GAME 13 Coppin State: We're Ready

No need to talk much about the Coppin State game. This one was over in the first few minutes. I will keep this brief and to the point. The non conference slate is now over. RU suffered some bumps and bruises early on with injuries contributing to losses to Temple and Miami. Bounced back in a rousing way vs Big 10 preseason fave Indiana. Then, RU had a game stolen from them at Ohio State, the aftertaste of which left them with a rancid offensive performance vs SHU at the RAC. Yet onward and upward, the Knights responded by blowing out Wake Forest and demolishing the final two cupcakes. Finishing the non conference slate at 8-3 and running up margins of victory of 40, 38, 30, 34, 35, 33 the Knights not only took care of every cupcakes they swallowed them whole and and still look like they are hungry.

Beating #1 Purdue at Mackey Arena would provide the tastiest morsel of all not only for a program looking to cement itself as a regular NCAA participant but for a fanbase that starting to ask "Why Not Rutgers?" when it comes to talking about Big 10 title contenders. Even though RU as well as the rest of the Big 10 has played a couple of conference games already, there is something about that first league game of the new year and those first few games in January which will come fast and furious....3 games for RU in just 7 days. It all starts with Purdue and circles back to the RAC for tilts with Maryland and Iowa. A fully healthy RU squad starting to move the bus using all cylinders playing the best consistent defense of anyone in the country will be a fun watch. Perhaps the highest ceiling of any RU basketball since the 70s, RU Ready, We're Ready, We're Ready for More.....

OT: My Lobos need My Scarlet Knights to Win Monday.

Lobo hoops toughed one out today in a one-point win at Wyoming to go 14-0 and be only one of two undefeated teams along with Purdue. Rutgers hoops needs to have a monumental win Monday; #1 for the program and University, and #2 so the Lobos will be the only undefeated team in the country. A Rutgers win Monday at #1 Purdue would be the biggest win in program history and would also make the Lobos the only undefeated team in the country. This would be incredible for the fan base of each School and a huge boost for recruiting for each School.....Go RU..... and would make me a very happy college hoops camper.... What a way to start the new year!!

Go RU....Beat Purdue!!!

Recruiting Class

I am going to backtrack a little bit on this class. I think Schiano is an elite talent evaluator. I was looking at the 2020 class which was ranked #60 with all three stars. But that class included Tyreem Powell, Chris Long, Wesley Bailey, Max Melton, Longerbeam, Konapka, Wright-Collins, Longerbeam, Monangai, alAnd Aaron Lewis and Ireland Brown as transfers. All recruited by Schiano a few weeks prior to signing day.

Ash recruited Felter, Konga, Simon, Mack, Isiah Wright, Ahmir Robinson, Shawn Collins and Jack Del Rio.

So it’s blatantly obvious that Schiano is infinitely better at identifying talent than previous coaches so the rivals rankings could be misleading. They are not apples to apples. There’s multiple NFL players in that class. Quarterback recruiting has been abysmal but Schiano is not bringing in scrubs.

Was at RAC last night with Deliquan Warren....kids tape checks all the boxes for me. Colorado, Nebraska, San Diego, Michigan and now RU....those are his final 5.

Tape looks like a more advanced version of Mag on defense and blend of offense from all 3 levels (Post, mid-range and 3 point land). Capable passer and playmaking abilities, excellent weakside defender. He's a piece of the puzzle, we could really use.
