10,000 B1G Build donors; Who is in?

Listen dodo my experience is with my children's 2 schools where they raised multiples more on the backs of alumni and fans and not corporations. Since Hobbs said this would have been a wrap at other B1G schools already I believed him because I've seen it with my eyes at universities that have alumni that care.

Second, Hobbs listed a number of improvements that are above and beyond those listed in the Build Campaign and said he hopes to blow thru the $100 mill number. If not things will get cut. This is unfortunate.

You are correct Hobbs never said he wanted $2-3 k from the average Joe alum. $50 a month for 6 months is not much and is 3 grand. Do the math. He is asking 10,000 alum to make a 5 year commitment. This is what I know. If the alum are not committed, the corporate guys are not gonna jump on.

The guy is begging people to committ and people like you think he has3 years and $25 will help. Do yourself and the school a favor and stop spouting that loser mentality shit around. The AD is calling you out and you are still making excuses why not to contribute. Sad.

I'm missing the part where I made excuses for contributing. O WAIT I've made a 5 year pledge and give a monthly donation.

Since you're proving how much of a dodo you are I'm done wasting my time.

Great you contributed. So did I just days after the campaign started. Then did again when the captains started. I never said you made excuses for contributing, you did however disagree with the urgency of donations and the amount per person we need. That's all. Two major elements if this program is to be a success. Let's not twist words here.

Hmmm might want to read the last sentence of your post time stamped at 10:47am.

I'm twisting words though? Lol.

I'm calling you out for sticking your nose up at a $25 donation from anyone and thinking we need all 10K people to give 2-3K to get this thing done. No leader of any campaign would ever stick their nose up at any size donation. You realize a $25 donation from someone whose never donated to RU in their life could lead to more bigger donations in the future? It also creates something called a culture of giving.

A large majority of the $100 million is going to come from those individuals giving $1 million + and there's nothing wrong with that because that's how these things work.

Given the size of RU's alumni base the amount of overall donors is concerning. The amount overall big $ donors is concerning as well. But the overall funds raised to date by Hobbs is nothing short of extraordinary considering our apathetic alumni base and piss poor success on the fields and courts over the years. I'm sure all those other schools you talk about have plenty of championships across the board to their name...

Listen you claimed we had 3 years to get this done. Hobbs disagrees. That's giving people an excuse for not contributing. You say $25 is fine and theoretically it is but practically it is not. It leads to failure and sets false expectations.

The University gave us all a great education. Be proud to give back and don't refuse to give back because of the failure of the 1967 badminton team. Again another excuse.

And stop saying schools that are successful raising athletic money have tons of success. That is not true. Yesterday UCF reported an athletic gift bigger than any we ever received. Don't make me look for hundreds of other examples to prove your self loathing argument wrong. All I had to do was glance at the local daily paper to do so.

I think RU85 and Janowski basically both want the same thing in the end, and are expressing different approaches of how to get there.

When I made my OP, I was hoping to take advantage of Friday's announcement and help push this campaign forward in some small way.

I was hoping people who have already contributed to the B1G Build Fund would step up and say so (I really don't care how much people have given, as everyone has different circumstances, but obviously bigger donations are more helpful).

When people who haven't yet donated see all the people who have donated, I hoped they would say, WTF, time for me to jump in to whatever extent I can. Then they can tell us they took the plunge, and maybe more momentum is thus generated.

I am hoping this thread can continue for a long time, and anytime someone makes their 1st donation, or an additional donation, they can post here and let us all know (donated amount not requested to be posted, but use your own judgement).

That way, everyone can see and feel the progress we are making towards the 2 goals presented by Hobbs.

The more people that participate, the better we will be (and as Janowski said, that helps create a "culture of giving."

Once someone does anything the 1st time (like donating to a cause), it is much more likely that person will consider doing so again.

How many season ticket holders do we have for football and basketball? It has to be more than 2000.

Changing opinions on a Rutgers sports message board is a drop in the bucket to what is required in getting alumni and NJ sports fans to invest in Rutgers athletics .Not enough people care now or in the past to change the status quo mentality that its not my concern.

True, but we all do what we can in our own circle of influence or habitat!

What else is there to do?

All right, bitches.

(Got your attention?)
:joy:

No one has posted on this thread since Sunday night...

We hung with Maryland in the 1st half.
Then we pretty much got schooled in the 2nd half.

I for one am tired of this crap.
We played so hard and so well vs Northwestern and Michigan.

Got thumped tonight.

What can I do besides get pissed off or stop giving a crap?

No. Not gonna happen.

So I just donated another $250 to the B1G Build Fund.

Who is with me?!

:basketball::fistbump::boxing::uzi:

I should also say I received a thank you mailing today from Hobbs and Sarah for my gift from last December.

It was very nice, and inspired me to donate again.
(I think this is a great example of why small donations can lead to repeated donations.)

I also watched the replay of the Facebook viewing yesterday, and that also inspired me to give again.

I hope others feel the same!!

Time for a bump...

Who would like to make a donation to the B1G Build Fund in honor of today's great win, with an eye towards the future?

:smiley::basketball::cool2:

Don't forget about any company match. I contributed $100 last week with $100 match from my company.
