2020 U23 and UWW Junior Nationals (11/13 - 11/15)

No one at the U-23 has wrestled an NCAA tournament match(MVB has not yet). With the guys that were there today, not really sure why some are surprised by the results. Only one I am a little surprised was Aguilar, who lost to two back ups and Aguilar has alot of Freestyle experience.
Yeah this is just the typical uninformed NJ wrestling morons that frequent Facebook and everywhere. Ignoring reality and the actual rankings and taking every chance to bad-mouth Goodale and Rutgers. We all wish they performed better but it isn't like Suriano went out there and lost to some backup. We had fringe guys losing freestyle when many of them don't really wrestle freestyle and aren't offensive takedown machines in folkstyle, which should shock no one, but here we are.

Kanniard was crusing along up (up 8-0 I believe) but looked to lose a little steam late in the 2nd, but he held on for 10-6 decision.

I think there was a lot of hype for Boone so people were disappointed and like someone said it wasn’t like Aguilar lost to world beaters. I still love Goodale etc

Shawver wins his 2nd round match but unfortunately gets a brutal matchup in the next round in Dylan Ragusin, who came in 2nd in the Senior Nationals last month. Tough draw for him in this situation.

Yup, there it is.
"uninformed NJ wrestling morons" Is that pep squad speak for anyone who dissents?
"frequent Facebook and everywhere" Brilliant Is that worse than moron?
And every chance? Hardly.
"it isn't like Suriano went out there and lost to some backup" No it isn't. We're now comparing extremes?

I've seen a recurring theme for the past several years. I think it's healthy to question and questioning isn't necessarily bad-mouthing. That is unless anything other than hurray for our side is bad-mouthing. And I've asked several times without anyone attempting an answer: what is the process for developing a wrestler in the Rutgers program? If you can't answer that, you can't be sure it's working.

Well not much to get excited about in regards to Vulakhs debut. Extremely boring match with zero offense from him (or his opponent for that matter). Lost 4-0.

Same with O'Neill..not much activity until late in the match but ran out of time and lost 5-3.

Not surprised. Limited practicing and neither are offensive juggernauts

Brutal loss for Robinson...was up 8-0 and then let his opponent come back to take the lead 12-8 before getting pinned.

MS-RU -Last year Shawver beat Ragusin. Ragusin has gotten a lot better. But, Shawver beat him recently.

Good call. I think at Ironman? Either way it will be a great litmus test as Ragusin has been great this fall beating Cruz, Perry, and Russell at Senior Nationals.

Same with Vulakh. Seemed more confident and got on his offense early. Picks up the 1st period tech to advance.

This has actually become funny. Now I 'm a troll... who is also a moron and frequents facebook "and everywhere". You can keep making excuses for the bad performance and lead the pep squad. I'll try to add some intelligence to the discussion. If that confuses you, just ask and I'll explain. Meanwhile, I will enjoy following Rutgers wrestling and reading all the opinions from people that don't resort to name-calling in place of substance.

The next intelligent post you have will be your first. Congrats. You're a troll.

Vulakh wins 9-0. He has looked much better since his opening match.

Kanniard hangs on and wins a close one to advance to the quarterfinals.

Turly stays red hot and gets the 1st period tech once again to advance to the quarterfinals as well.

Wow, Poz got down 8-0 real quick but battled back to get the tech in the 2nd. Ripped off 18 straight points. Zero quit in him. He advances to the quarterfinals as well.

How old is McDermott? Isn’t he a sophomore? Not making excuses for him but he seems young to be in a U23 bracket

Love watching Donny coaching our guys. Did you see his enthusiasm coaching Poz from 8 down to getting the tech fall. A lot of our freshman and redshirt freshman are impressing. Turley can be dangerous. Kinnnard needs to get in shape. After his first match Vulakh has looked good.. Remember he was out all last year. Shawver is looking good. Alvarez wrestling at 143 is interesting. He looks much bigger and stronger. However, may be a step slow. Only older guy still in it is Donner.

O'Neill gets the quick tech in 21 seconds to advance in the consolation

Vulakh advances on a MFF.

Sammy is getting bigger and stronger. There was a weight allowance so 65kg was almost 148....and he looked like all of it. Would not shock me if next season he was at 149.

He is a Redshirt Soph, spent two years at his Juco. He is not young for U-23.
Janzer and Robinson are also redshirt sophs but they’re competing U20. MVB and Donner are 5th year seniors competing in the same age group as McDermott. Boone has to be one of the younger guys in the U23 field.

Again it’s not an excuse because he’ll be wrestling most of these guys in college anyway. Just an observation.

Tough loss for Shawver...was up 11-3 and ended up losing 17-11. He seemee to run out of gas late in the 2nd, which unfortunately has been a common theme for a couple of our guys. I know it's preseason but conditioning seems to be an issue.
