Maryalnd, Indiana, Illinois - 1 or 2 of these

We don't have the talent to run a spread or a pro offense at the DI level. Maybe at the DIII level though.

It's gonna take 3-4 years for Ash to recruit the guys he needs to start competing on offense. I think defense will get better faster but O is gonna take a total overhaul.

Been saying "3 or 4 wins" for months Blitz. Kept telling those with 5-8 win expectations - lol - to "temper their expectations."

I had us pegged for 7 wins but after seeing the first game, if NONE of our QBs could beat out fake QB Laviano then we are in BIG trouble. We might as well play a RB back there and adopt the triple option like Navy.

I thought 4 wins before today but I'm not that optimistic any more.

Howard, New Mexico (toss-up), and possibly one from either Illinois or Indiana. The rest are not going to look good unless something changes from this week on.

With a bunch of UW fans and even they are saying our biggest problem is QB and no team speed.

bingo....I am still scratching my head at seemingly smart and logical fans who totally forgot about the talent level of this program and just overdosed on koolaid

Nuts, you've been saying 3-4 wins for a long time and I agreed with you, but I'm not so sure anymore. After seeing the game plan today, it looks like a 2-win season and it doesn't seem to me that New Mexico will be a W.

Eh, I always felt New Mexico would be a tight game, but we should be able to move the ball and score on them. They gave up 21 and 330 to a lousy FCS school, South Dakota (not "state"), today. The question is can our insanely inexperience LB's handle what that running attack will give them?

True, the big plays today were through the air.

Don't see how this game changes anything. Over/Under is 4.5. Always felt that was fair. UW was never winnable, probably 3rd best team, 2nd best coach we face all year.

A running qb solves this mess. He runs for first downs when the play breaks down and also obviously the option actually works when there are two viable options. Luckily this can be fixed because we have at least two athletic qbs.

So much drama. Starting with an OP who doesn't know who we play. Outside of OSU and maybe Michigan this is the best team we will play.

Watched some of the Michigan-Hawaii game. The eyeball test tells me they're definitely better than Washington. That defense is sick. As great as Washington looked today, I still think Rutgers made them look better than they were.

Hawaii is horrible. Horrible.

I think Howard is a win , but not a big time blowout We probably play a conservative game and just run it down their throats . I see boring game plan and overpowering them.

I am most disappointed in this coaching staff. Played not to lose as oppose to win. Very conservative play calling especially early in the game. Offense and Special Teams are a mess!!

Did not like that Ash hired his buddies instead of the best coach available. I think this mistake is now showing up in the game preparation and game management.

Now, not only do we have to wait to recruit better players, but we now have to wait for this coaching staff to learn on the job all the while collecting top salaries. Sign me up!!
Paid millions to learn the job that you should have known before you were hired.

Never ends at Rutgers. Can't we ever hire competent, professional coaches??!!

I totally agree. Everyone raved about Coach Ash hiring his buddies, but when I pointed to cronyism, I was quickly called a Debbie Downer.

Funny how White Coaches are always allowed to learn on the job. Yet for some reason, they can't find a Black Guy that's capable of learning on the job. Funny how that works.

Coach Ash gets three years worth of checks, and we're supposed to simply accept whatever he comes up with.

seriously, I blame Hobbs.

not interviewing Schiano was an absolute Blunder.

Who were the best coaches available that Ash passed up on?
Who exactly is learning on the job?

Takes skill to work racism into a thread about wins. Well done.

It's refreshing to think that most of us don't even notice or think about the color of a coach's skin. $$$$

I was one of the few who thought 6 wins was possible, but after yesterday 3 wins may be a bit much now. Rutgers is caught in between offenses with some personnel designed for the pro while other are spread ready. And on top of that there are players in key position they affect the overall performance of the team.

What?

never 4 wins, 3 ain't happening unless other opponents have a swarm of injuries to key players, like I said in another post, we can't beat maryland or indiana and new mexico is better than everyone wants to admit, howard is the only realistic win and maybe illinois, that's two

One game in and some of you have lost your marbles. I knew the board would be bad, but this is unreal.

This is definitely along my thought process except RB one of either Allen or Gio who can run better. Try to at least get one part of the spread option working. I'm sure these QB's can complete 5 to 10yd passes which is pretty much what we have now, just without the running part. We're simply not going to run the spread option to 100% effectiveness this year with the QB's we have on the roster. No one from here on out is going to respect Laviano as a running threat. So the spread option is totally F'ed from here on out with him at the helm.
I still think 2-4 after 1st 6 weeks. I knew it would be a rough month and a half then things should start to straightened out. The talent on the teams we play from Oct. 11 on severely diminishes.
You are an f-ing idiot.
Jim it looks like that dude El Crackhead has permanently fell off the deep end. "Crazy, toys in the attic he is Crazy. Truly gone fishing."

2 wins? Did any of you people watch football this weekend ? Happen to catch any of our opponents games?

Totally agree with this assessment. I'm sure the other QBs can throw 5 yard passes. It's not like we have laviano in there for his arm. Even if Gio or Allen are less accurate, at least they can run.

I'll take the wait and see approach when it comes to RU's final W-L record
I didn't see anything in Rutgers first game to make me feel optimistic about
how the Scarlet Knights will do this season and the second game should be considered
a practice testing out the fixes to what went wrong in the first game.
How RU looks against New Mexico when they come to Jersey will give me a strong
indication in what to expect.
But after the Hawkeyes come to Rutgers Stadium is when I'll decide if this season will probably be a disaster W-L wise or some hope should be there after seeing the way the Scarlet Knights played Iowa..

Don't expect a wining season based on the way Rutgers got blown out by Washington, but hopeing RU will show it's better than that and my hope will be rewarded by the way Rutgers plays New Mexico and Iowa.
Not going to consider Howard being able to make me cry
