If you want to beat the big boys you need to start thinking like one.
If you watchd Last Chance U, Jonathan Franklin III who was a Florida State transfer thought he was too good for mid-tier schools. He transferred to Auburn to ride the pine again. Not saying this kid is the same but a lot of these kid's egos wont let them go from Florida State to Rutgers.
Geeee, REALLY? I didn't say he should go after him, did I? I just don't want to hear peole bitching when he goes to a Top 10 school, that's all, because this kid can LITERALLY go anywhere he wants and he's not even a Jersey kid.
Which should seriously call into question the reason for the transfer.
I mean, what do you have to do to get suspended at FSU for violating team rules? Stealin' won't do it. Rapin' won't do it. So... what did he do?
Pass suspended by FSU which is next to impossible but he also left IMG after only a month and attened 4 high schools. Discipline issues there too.
Before calling for Ash to go hot and heavy after Henry, find out the reason why he's leaving FSU.
Talent wise a no brainer to go after Malik, but if there are some issues behind the curtain that caused him to want out , or FSU nudge him in that direction, RU might be best staying away.
But could be he feels he won't win the starting role and transferring because of playing time worries. Then Ash should seriously look into bringing him into the program, but if it was off field issues that is causing his departure,don't make another school's problem one Rutgers gains.

These kids egos are so ridiculous that when they actually step foot on campus and have to compete they can't handle it and transfer.
Blake Barnett and Malik Henry are two perfect examples. Or the two 5 star QB's from Texas AM who transferred. Then you have humble kids like a Wimbush or Haskins who redshirt, learn, and compete before they just decide after one year to leave the program. How many undergraduate players (not 5th year graduate) specifically QB ever transfer and are successful?

The big boys wouldn't go after a kid that is a proven head case who is from the opposite side of the country from where your program recruits. It's a total waste of time and resources.
why does a lot of posters think top tier transfers want to come here?
I love how this board thinks every transfer is coming to a 2 win team in the freezing northeast.
There's a big difference between those guys though. Haskins and Wimbush came in behind JT Barrett/Cardale Jones and Malik Zaire/Deshone Kizer, who were all upperclassmen. Meanwhile in Alabama there's a true freshman in Jalen Hurts who has the job locked up for the next two years, and at FSU it's a redshirt freshman in Deondre Francois. The writing is on the wall for these guys.
Maybe they got big eyes and went to programs they shouldn't have. There's nothing wrong with recognizing that mistake and transferring somewhere to play.
No. He said Ash needs to recruit him. Which is different. The coaching staff should be reaching out to very top player that is transferring to gauge fit and interest level. Just like they should be contacting all top recruits in our region. That's what they are paid to do. No one ever said they thought he was going to come here.
