What fun would that be? It would be a missed opportunity to whine and complain.
An extremely sensible position, but you're asking some on here to wait until after the new coach is introduced and has had a chance to speak before ripping into him. -That's asking a lot.
Steve Sarkisian coached in the Rose Bowl, non title run for USC after being named Washington HC.
Mark Dantonio is another, he stayed at OSU to coach in a non title Fiesta Bowl against KSU before taking over Cincy.
So you have Strong, Narduzzi, Sarkisian, Dantonio.

No need to make this into an adversarial situation. All parties agreed to this because this is an absurdly minor issue. If you don't think Ash is living and breathing RU football right now, you probably trust very few people in your life. It is in the interest of Meyer too that the RU program is a solid one. No one is screwing us and Ash has potential to be a great hire.
Tom Herman stayed through the NCG last year FWIW. I understand that game meant more but this could simply be "the deal" at OSU.
The positive is that will be the highest rated game outside the playoffs and we'll be mentioned positively often. I'd prefer him here too but it's not the end of the world. Late nights for Ash though coming up, no doubt.

Hobbs, Ok I get it you have a job. You're making what $650,000 right, well here is $2million to say your goodbyes and report to work on Monday. I think most would say their goodbyes to management and good luck with that special project. My co worker here who has shared responsibilities in my department with me can take over from here on out.
I honestly don't know. I couldn't recall a single assistant coach staying on for a non-championship game. Maybe it does happen all the time. If I'm wrong, my bad. But, I can say that every person I have personally talked to about this thinks he's making a mistake be staying. It just seems weird. In the grand scheme maybe isn't a big deal. And, I acknowledge that other people don't think it is a big deal.

Not if ND puts up 45 pts. Then it will be a PR disaster. Different circumstances between Herman and Ash. Herman went to a G5 school out of conference. Ash is going to a team in the same division, better for both parties to go their separate ways now. Plus he is co-DC they have Fickle already in place he could easily sub in.
Shea's last recruiting class was all about "Shocking power and Jersey power." Basically, it was all the Jersey kids who were excited to get a D-1 offer from SOMEBODY.

you are comparing apples to oranges to make excuses for this situation, the BYU coach is the head coach, our "ash" is an assistant coach. Add to that other head coaches like Babers from BGSU, starting with cuse immediately because he gets it
What part of he is helping a competitor win their bowl game and get an aadvantage dont people understand. That insane actually...other coaches who stayed on didnt get jobs in the same leagues..will Ash still be recruiting for them too
Questionable hire, lol. Plum Street is just upset that Hobbs didn't hire his man, proven loser Al Golden. Yes, the guy that Miami Hurricane fans were so fed up with that they hired jets to fly "Fire Golden" banners. Plum Street wanted Hobbs to hire Miami's version of Kyle Flood.
OSU is the enemy and we have fans saying its no big deal...some cant shake being mom and pop

As much as I don't like it, Georgia is allowing Kirby Smart to do the exact same thing. It isn't like this doesn't happen at other programs, and big time programs at that.
Actually we should raise hell so he can fix things before the press conference. SL will be all over Ash if he waits to after the bowl game to coach here full time.

Maybe he wants to coach the bowl because he knows it will be awhile before he sees one this good again.
Or maybe take a LOT of notes on the OSU offense he will face next year. I can see him asking the OC, "why did you guys call those plays in that situation"....lol
Yea, settle for someone like Al Golden because the guy you want will be delayed 3 weeks.....lol
He is the head coach, different sitution. OSU even has another defensive coordinator. Just baffling that Hobbs didnt make starting right away part of the offer.
