It is really annoying that you can not read the numbers on the home jerseys. I don't expect my aging eyes to see the numbers at the other end of the field(I've had season tickets in sections 118 & 119 for many years), but when they are at midfield or in near my end zone I should be able to tell who is lined up where and who is in the game. I mean isn't that part of the reason why they have numbers. All I know is that when they had the white on red I had very little trouble and I could pretty much make out all of the numbers across whole field. I really do not dislike the current uniforms, but something has to be done. Does RU really think a kid will not come to RU because of the color of the number on a uniform. If that is the case then they have some serious recruiting issues. Other than that the beers were cold and Caroo is a beast(if in fact that was him a catching those passes).

The announcers talked about not being able to read the #s. Al Groh made a joke to the effect that all his film study was worthless because he couldn't tell who was who.

I agree. I struggled to see the numbers yesterday and gave up. However, I thought I read that Flood said uniforms are a 5 year thing. Sounds like we are stuck with them for next year. I am really disappointed that Nike has not fixed this.

Yes, we all know this.
Even the people on here that say they like them really don't, it's all about not complaining.

Glad to see this thread. We are in 121 and had no idea who was in at QB, did not know who scored the first TD, and generally were in the dark about anyone doing anything that generated crowd noise sufficient to drown out the PA system. We would have done better not to purchase tix and just watch on TV. These unis have to go and hopefully we won't have to wait till next season to be rid of them. If they can't get new unis with clear numbers, then someone should just paint over these numbers in white paint.

Love the home unis. Nike is the gold standard. Don't ever leave Nike.
My god Cali, explain to us how you like a uniform where the numbers are impossible to read? Why do you have to shock post?
Just tell the truth and a agree a readable border on the numbers would be great?

Could not read the numbers in the stands and just re-watched on a 110" screen and still can't read the numbers. Ah, but we know this already. I hate it as I would like the ability to see who's making the play at the stadium and on TV. This is an issue I can't stop complaining about.

I don't care about the numbers. So it isn't an issue to me. I have season tix to the Hollywood Bowl. Box seats. I bring binoculars still. If it is an issue, get a pair.

Saying Nike is the gold standard is shocking to you? Really?

How does one email Julie Hermann on this?

You like to twist statements my friend, Nike makes plenty of uniforms across the country I like. You're answer is to bring binoculars, brilliant, there wasn't a person in the stadium who knew which TE caught the first TD.
You just said you don't care about numbers, so there's your answer, you don't care.
That puts you in the complete minority, people like to know who's in the game

Binoculars suggestion isn't really that crazy. I use them.

Someone made a post. I gave my opinion. So did you. Minority? That isn't proven, nor do if care if it is. I like uniforms. Numbers included. Others don't. We are all free to hold those positions.

Yes, and I call BS, because you can't

Are you doubting that I truthfully saw numbers just fine?
I knew when it was Laviano 5 or Rettig 11. I knew when James 34 had the ball. How can you say I can't, when I did? Maybe it was the sun? We had the sun behind us in 107. Could the sun in fans' eyes affect their vision?

You must be best buds with Phil (or Penny?) Knight.

Seriously, I don't care who the uni vendor is. Just make the kits less cartoonish. Personally, I like the "old school" look: true scarlet "red" (not salmon) and a design that highlights the block "R" on the lids. Red lids w/white R. White lids with scarlet R. Save the gimmicky chrome and trendy black for "special" occasions like. . . like . . . on second thought, let's just retire that look.

I'm in 106 with a perfect view, unless the player is at a perfect angle there's no seeing the numbers.
Cali, as far a the red unis are concerned you honestly think you're not in the minority? Why do you think this topic comes up after every home game?
But you already know that, you posting for show my friend....you don't care about numbers, remember

Interesting. I agree that the uni numbers could be made easier to see, but I do not have a problem seeing the numbers. The problem is the shiny silver reflects off the sun and lights and on the salmon??/scarlet??/orange?? background, that is hard on the eyes.

I really shouldn't say that, you might have 20-10 vision, and I apologize. But you are also very much in the minority, spotters and announcers get paid to see the players and they complain every week

Couldn't make it to the game this week was watching it on TV. For a moment I thought I needed glasses(I am getting up there now) and got real concerned because normally I can see just fine. When Al Groh mentioned on the broadcast about Rutgers uniform choice I was relieved to know it just wasn't me. How Nike came to the conclusion this was a great combination is beyond me. Thanks for the anxiety attack NIKE!

The color combo was designed with the Brady Bunch tiki in the room, and nothing good came from it.

Marsha, Marsha Marsha....

We use to look like big boys. Now "they" (yes, I don't assoicate with that uniform whatsoever) look like halloween costumes. I have no idea who played Norfolk yesterday. People knew who Alabama, Wisconsin, Texas and ND were and their alumni are proud to associate with them.

Bring back the 2006 uni's GOD DAMNIT!

This is old news. You can't read the numbers. Can't read the names on the back, if there are any. Black uni's are better for now, till they change them.

Silent majority :)

I always defer to the players. They love em, so do I.

Pine, I stopped reading after I see you call them "kits". This ain't soccer and you aren't in Europe.

And you should care who provides apparel. Nike is recognized by kids as the global leader.

Cali you seem to be a smart guy. Do you honestly think a subordinate would make fun of the bosses choice when the boss's pay is paid my the puppet masters (Nike)?

There is no God damn way those kids like those Halloween costumes when they turn on the TV and see FSU, Bama, Tx, USCw, West Vir, K State and ND run out of the tunnel.

Kids love gear. I promise you, they aren't thinking about a contract when they say they like the uniforms.

Admittedly, like the basic scarlet and white, white and scarlet - over time, more traditional attire looks best.
Sure, many of us here (me), wore banana colored jackets, and leisure suits -cringe at seeing the old pics...

Did you watch on TV with Cali?

If not, he knows he's always welcome to come to the Harp Inn in beautiful Newport Beach California and watch the game with the Rutgers Alumni Assoc. of So. Cal. We're always there reppin' the R (except when we are actually at the game).

p.s. - I've been in the stands plenty of times when the team is in the salmons. Yea, not the easiest to read -- but not worth yet another thread.
