Bad game experience(uni's)

Get me one from any player, current or past that wore them, saying they don't like them. It's on you now.

And Vallone didn't graduate 4 years ago.
Wow you are way off your game. Current means on the team today. So he is an ex player.
No its not on me. You say they love them. Prove it.
That fact you don't even go to games makes your opinion irrelevant towards the OP original post. Who cares you like them from 3000 miles away. That's not the point. Those that go to the game are having a problem INCLUDING the annoucers.
And it's laughable your suggestion about binoculars. So Nike makes such a bad home jersey we are all required to bring binoculars to view the game because the jerseys suck.

I already provided proof that players who have worn those uniforms love them. The uniforms haven't changed. If you have proof otherwise, let's see it.

I have been to games where they have worn those uniforms. It doesn't matter if I was there this particular Sat.

I brought binoculars and even though I had amazing seats. I like seeing up close. You should try it instead of making up stories about how the players might feel because you feel different.

Wow. Are you a politician. Haven't answered the question still.
Anyway. I watch the first half from the field. Have problems, like so many others seeing the numbers especially on bright sunny day, from the very day they wore this set of jerseys.
You said the kids love them. Where do you get that crap? BTW. Come to the Scarlet Walk sometime. Great opportunity to talk with many parents. I'll let them put you in your place about the problems with the unis.

They fact you admitted you don't care about seeing the numbers just proves that your point of view of the content of this thread is irrelevant. You just wanted to stir the pot.

I don't care about the numbers. So it isn't an issue to me. I have season tix to the Hollywood Bowl. Box seats. I bring binoculars still. If it is an issue, get a pair.

Saying Nike is the gold standard is shocking to you? Really?
Just in case you wanted to edit this

Nothing to edit. Others in the thread say they can see the numbers fine. I produced players saying they like them and responded very positively when seeing them. You can't produce anything to validate your point other and the ole, "because I say so".

You haven't produced one current player who said such a thing! You provided 4 year old video. Please stop your nonsense when you have admitted you don't care about seeing the numbers.

LOL…I've spoken to players parents as well, they can't tell when their kids in the game.
I get the numbers are hard to read on sunny days but that's a ridiculous statement. My kid is 7 and I can pick him out by the way he stands from the other side of the field. Please name two players who look so alike their parents can't tell them apart.

@WhiteBus Having talked to Kemoko Turay, a current player on the Rutgers football team, at this very moment, in the Livingston Dining Hall, as of last year, he has told me that he likes the uniforms. He likes the old red and white ones too, but he likes the current uniforms quite a bit.

@Caliknight In all honesty, you're not going to get much traction here. This is a negative thread about the uniforms. Liking them will get you nowhere.

My favorite uniforms were just before we moved onto our current ones, though I really like our current road unis.

The middle video has players screaming in excitement that are still on the team. What do you have?

Listen, the new uni's are a complete piece of sh!t embarrassment to the school. The very first game they wore them a couple of years ago I immediately tweeted that the color wasn't RU scarlet/red and that the numbers can not be read (BTW I sit 126 row 19). Like lightning fast Jason Baum, tool that he is/was, tweeted back to me that they were perfectly legible. Meanwhile here we are third year with these sh!t rags and still the same problem reported by fans and media. Get the old uni's back!!!! We are not the Salmon Knights.

Some people are just lucky I guess.
Their must be some scientific reason you're able to see the numbers perfectly while the majority of us struggle. I wonder what it is?
Wearing these to the games might be the reason some can see the numbers on those Nike unis.

Remember it has to be Nile or the numbers won't show

Not from here...and I proved you wrong.
Oh god. Please stop. You haven't proved any of your complete BS. Not one quote from a current player. Not one.
And you continue this nonsense as you have admitted and try to defend you point of view that you don't care about seeing numbers. You have no standing in this thread, period!

I really don't get the dispute here.

The numbering on the scarlet jerseys (the black and white one's are okay as is) should be easily readable by everybody with normal eyesight (corrected or natural) in the stadium and commentating for TV. That anybody would argue that basic point is beyond comprehension.

For those of you who can read the numbering, congratulations. We're all very happy for you. That doesn't mean we shouldn't fix it for those of us who cannot read them.

For those of you who love the old uniform styles, or love the new uniform styles, or think the old/current players love/hate the uniforms, IT'S COMPLETELY F-ING IRRELEVANT to the issue of being able to read the damn jersey numbers. So for the love of God, take that crap to another thread. Please.

If somebody has access to Julie, can you please reiterate to her that it's a serious issue, perhaps referencing the TV commentator's comments. If they cannot be fixed before the 5 year contract is up, then it should at least be a high priority correction for the next series of uniforms.

For me this isn't about what I like between old school vs new. It's all about being a true fan off live football and knowing who is in the game and making the play. Period.
Sadly Rutgers took the Nike $ and have no say in the matter as Nike needs to sell jerseys.
All I want is to recognize instantly who is on the field...without binoculars

Sure I do. You keep responding to me. I challenge you to provide one quote from any player who says they don't like uniforms who wore them, past or present.

I don't believe that RU can't contact Nike and ask for the jersey numbering to be tweaked on the scarlet jerseys such that they are visible.

Julie should present it as simply being bad advertising for Nike when announcers and fans all hate the uniforms because they can't read the numbers. Nike should be falling all over themselves to fix the problem for RU.

quote. Back up you foolish statement or STFU. The fact that you don't even care yo see numbers shows how ridiculous all your posts have been. Come to the game Saturday and I will point out how ridiculous you have been on this thread. If not just admit how wrong you have been. No one is supporting your stance....who actually go to the games

All I can say that many people have complained to Julie, myself included and some very big donors as well...yet nothing has been done

It is really annoying that you can not read the numbers on the home jerseys. I don't expect my aging eyes to see the numbers at the other end of the field(I've had season tickets in sections 118 & 119 for many years), but when they are at midfield or in near my end zone I should be able to tell who is lined up where and who is in the game. I mean isn't that part of the reason why they have numbers. All I know is that when they had the white on red I had very little trouble and I could pretty much make out all of the numbers across whole field. I really do not dislike the current uniforms, but something has to be done. Does RU really think a kid will not come to RU because of the color of the number on a uniform. If that is the case then they have some serious recruiting issues. Other than that the beers were cold and Caroo is a beast(if in fact that was him a catching those passes).

Here's my reply:

I agree those uniforms suck
.

Binoculars suggestion isn't really that crazy. I use them.

Someone made a post. I gave my opinion. So did you. Minority? That isn't proven, nor do if care if it is. I like uniforms. Numbers included. Others don't. We are all free to hold those positions.

You shouldnt have to use binoculars if you are sitting in the first row in 100 sections.

I was sitting with VKJ saturday. His seats are about as close as you can get without being on the bench. My sunglasses are polarized and as good as you can buy courtesy of Uncle Sam. We spent most of the 1st quarter asking each other "who carried the ball?" "Who caught that TD?" "Who made that tackle?"

The numbers are hard to read. Period.

Should they change them? I have no real hard position on that. If the team likes them, that is important to me. But fan experience is also something that needs to be heavily factored in.

I think an expectation that one needs to have a Zeiss spotting scope to watch the game is silly--especially when you are sitting on the 45 in the 7th row.

Why can't they tighten up the entrance. Seems like an eternity from when the horse trots onto the field to when the team enters. Why can't they have 1 horse with mascot 2 cheerleaders with flags 3 team all enter within 30 seconds of each other. Seems like simple logistics.

Not too sure if the players like the color combination. What they do like is the fit of the uniform which is important and basic. Somehow the older scarlet jerseys had some plain zing to them. OSU has a great combination of red with silver pants. Years ago this was the basic home uniform and a white Jersey for away games. Pants were always the same for budgetary reasons.

I am willing to bet that if a simple poll regarding the current red jerseys as far as number readability were done there would be a more than 3-1 return that the numbers are difficult to see. One obvious point is how many times tv/radio/game have misidentified a player. Certainly more times than on might expect.

You're comparing that to serious fans not being able to recognize personnel groupings?

So you can't back up your position. Noted.

We sit in the 6th row near midfield and it's nearly impossible to see player names on the jerseys. Numbers are fine up to about halfway across the field, then it's best guess. I'm getting older, but my eyes aren't THAT bad yet. How hard could it be to go with something more legible? A lighter color silver, maybe? Or even black?

Speaking of the horse, did anyone notice when the knight was in the visitor side endzone and the horse nearly bucked him off? Something spooked that horse to the point he almost ditched the knight and galloped out of the tunnel. lol

I am surprised this doesn't happen more often. I go to a few SC games every year and Traveler the horse is brought out after every TD. In a blowout, that can be a lot. Their fans are very into that horse and usually clamoring for it. I am surprised the thing doesn't freak out every time.
