Pretty sure he's saying season is dead, not pull plug on Pike. His seat not warm until after a poor next year.
It’s already been 2 years.
The inability to manage the roster so far in the NIL era is THE red flag. Pike is a great coach. He is not a good GM and needs kids who come in and develop.
Hopefully he rights the ship and his on the job training pays off next season. That lift is going to be huge especially with the disaster of this season.

No. He is not a great coach. He’s a coach that can teach defense to willing learners. And that’s it.
We are stuck with him for another 2 years no matter what due to contract obligations and institutional acceptance of mediocrity
Exactly. And he doesn’t disguise himself, throw balls at players, demand they shoot naked free throws, lie on resumes, etc., but thats about it.
He’s taken different teams to the NCAA tournament. He’s no slouch.

I just looked up mediocre in the dictionary and Pikes picture was next to it. Crazy
When he was hired we had Stony Brook fans come here and warn us that he was not a great game day coach.
Was he squatting? Clapping? or asking the fans to motivate his team in the picture?
I can't think of a player whose offensive game developed under Pike.

We are as likely to go 4-11 as we are to go 11-4….we aren’t back in the RAC until 2/1 at which point we could be 1-8 in-conference. This is a young soft immature team, we could very easily only win 1-2 more games this season.
He is a good coach whose philosophy didn’t evolve with NIL. He has struggled enormously to adapt, which is honestly hard to do.

it’s over. We were all anticipating this season. What a squandered opportunity.
If a coach can't get players that he evaluated and recruited to do the things he needs them to do then he doesn't deserve to lead them. Everybody likes to talk about how much a buyout will cost us. How about how much we will fail to make if we keep him.
Wow! He's been a D1 coach for 20 years and has been one of the top 64 teams three times. He has become a slouch.

I agree, it wouldn't be shocking in we won 1-2 more games. There are a lot of B1G teams that will be playing for the tourney and they won't want a bad loss on their resume.
He has no feel for the game. Stubborn subs, starters always start the 2nd half instead of riding with the hot hands. Continuously digging himself into a hole every game by being stubborn.

Regardless Brad is a nice guy. Have spoken to him several times.
Don’t know what he’s up to ( I know he does bracketology) but would have liked to have seen him somewhere on a staff somewhere after being let go with the EJ staff.
Geo Baker, Jacob Young, Caleb McConnell, RHJ, Myles Johnson, Eugene O, to name a few
Eugene Omoruyi. He could barely dribble when he got here..and I’m no fan of Pike. Also, Caleb McConnell was a disaster offensively his freshman year.
Eugene did get better every year, even his senior season not at RU. He put in the work and improved. Caleb improved greatly on defensive side, offensively we was OK. I never felt overly confident that he was making a shot when he put one up though.
Pike's has ~10 players per season, been here 8 years and you may have come up with 2 players that got considerably better offensively. (Out of 80)
Consistently YOY we have a team that can't shoot or our offense does nothing to help them get & make open shots. Peter Kiss came here a shooter, didn't defend or make shots here, left yo Bryant led NCAA in scoring & had a great NCAA run against top conference teams

To be a bit more accurate, he has at least until Rutgers hires a new President and AD, and then probably a show me period. No one getting fired until these positions filled.
Gotcha. Makes sense. Don't think its the right move given respect, etc. Pikiell is a far more veteran coach than Wechtel ever was. Does Wechtel even coach anymore?
