BTN Lists A Top-5 Celebrity "Team" For Each B1G Team--Could've Done Better w/ RU, But Not Bad (link)

Missed a bunch, imo.

Carli Lloyd, Alexi Lalas, Calista Flockhart, Marc Ecko, Avery Brooks, Kristin Davis, Greg Brown, Elizabeth Warren (RU Law), Jane Krakowski.... no offense to Becky Quick, but I'd probably put any one of those ahead of her.

I think they only went with living celebrities, which is why Gandolfini is left off - as well as others like Milton Friedman, Paul Robeson, Roy Scheider,

Ok wow, the list confused the hell out of me at first. I didnt read the opening paragraph and I assumed that it was top 5 alumni from each school. I'm like "theres no way, half the people on this list never even attended college" till I realized they included distinguished fans and celebrity natives.

Which makes the Rutgers list even worse. You mean to tell me they could think of 5 New Jersey natives/RU fans with more star power than that? Soooo many more possibilities

Also:
Garrett Hobart (VP under McKinley, if Hobart hadn't died during McK's first term and been replaced by TR< Hobart would have been president when McK was assassinated
Astonaut guy (I forget his name)
Eric Young
Jeff Torbourg
Guy who was the first Want to be a Millionaire #1 million winner and the guy who won The Apprentice

Lebron James..........Ohio State?????????? Did he take one course there and they are calling him alumni????????

Aaron Rodgers.... Wisconsin? I understand that he plays for the Packers, but my Cal friends would really be bothered with this. I am pretty sure if Wisconsin played Cal and he was in attendance, he would be rocking blue and gold.

Wait, Michael Moore wears a Rutgers hat? Damnit, why can't we have nice things around here?

Roger Daltrey...because he's in a picture with a guy in a Rutgers' hat.

I believe he's suggesting rutgersal should be on the list.... either that, or I'm just not good at comprehending jokes.
I think you're better than you're wiling to admit, but possibly not in this instance. ;-)

After having just watched "Survive and Advance" (for the fiftieth time) I have to nominate Jim Valvano and Dick Vitale to the list. Mostly Jim, but I wouldn't object to Vitale. But if it's a living-only list, then we are out our two most famous Jims--Valvano and Gandolfini.

If its not just grads, but people with other affiliations - Ruth Bader Ginsberg
"Astronaut guy" was Terry Hart

Not really as super-impressive a list as I would've imagined given the quality of Big 10 schools. BTW, Purdue has 23 grads who are/were astronauts. Including the first and last men to walk on the Moon.

I agree. It seemed pretty heavy with sports journalists and other journalists, most of whom I'm not familiar with and whose "fame" may well be rather fleeting.

I would have like to have seen at least one of our Super Bowl ring owners on our list, especially if Carli's fame was acknowledged too recently to be on the list.

Could have put Bill Rasmussen on the list, since he founded ESPN.

Also, the founder of Home Depot, Bernie Marcus, is a definite candidate.
