The Build Fund Captains had a meeting at Rutgers last night and we were given some updates

  • $66.8M donated so far. That included the $25M from Lesniak and $10M from RWJ-Barnabas
  • approximately 1700 private donors have given $41.8M
  • 100 gifts of $25,000.... 40 of which were first time donors to Rutgers
  • almost $2.5M in verbal commitments...just waiting on checks
  • The 30 captains have brought in 219 new donors and $210,000 in gifts
  • The Build Fund will have a new Amplo website where each of the captains will have their own page so you can see who the captains are and donate directly to the team of your choice.

Next Tuesday, November 29th is RU Giving Day and giving to the Build Fund will be one of the options for donations. Last year Athletics raised the most money ($100,000) but was second in number of donors. They want to be first in both categories this year.

The Giving Day website will go live at 12am on the 29th. the website will be:
GivingDay.Rutgers.Edu

"almost $2.5M in verbal commitments...just waiting on checks"

Is this part of the $66.8M or would this be on top of that? Thanks in advance!

Is a $25,000 pledge over five years considered a $25,000 gift or does it count as a $5,000 gift each year. Semantics, I know, but just curious as to how we tally.

Thanks

To be clear, that would considered a $25k gift.

You will get tax receipts with each $5k installment.

@CNJKnight my understanding is that money is only counted once someone signs on the dotted line, so this $2.5M would be on top of the $66M

@Ruthinking I don't know if the pledges were one time $25k or a pledge over 5 years. RU counts it all the same: as a $25k donation.
I do know that if you pledge over 5 years RU can still borrow against that future pledge money.

Thanks for the update. I'm guessing you meant 31.8 million in private donations. 25 + 10 + 42 would be almost 77 million.

Mrs, do you know what the cost estimates are for the new facility on Livingston? I seem to remember $45-50 mil but the ol memory may be playing tricks on me.

Also have you heard from our friend down at FSU? If so, how's she doing?

I do not remember what they said the cost was.

Our FSU friend was in Piscataway on Saturday. We went to the wrestling match together and she tailgated with me. She loves Florida. Loves her new job and is very happy (although she misses her regulars from here in NJ)

Sorry to be so forward but if you don't mind. Next time you speak to her tell her John in Manasquan said hi! She'd never call without asking immediately so let her know I have my hearing before the planning board and if they (hopefully) approve the house is finally a go.

John, so glad it seems like everything is coming together on the house. Fingers crossed for you. All well with the kids?

All's good thanks. Tailgated with my son Saturday and daughter's coming up tomorrow afternoon so I can spoil her for a day. So nice to hear from you.

I hope you know we planned the wind/sleet/snow just so you wouldn't miss NJ too much and make going back to Fla easier.

they said 41.8... I have that in my notes, but you are right..the numbers don't add up correctly. o_O
Technically the RWJBH donation is private as it is not a federal state gift which would be considered public. All good-money, money, money!
