Can someone recap the court club meeting?

I like ej as a person. Hell I even cut his lawn. He loves ru. He wants to succeed. We all want to see him suceed. But the applauding of his coaching because the team hasn't given up got me somewhat itchy.

I will call out a very vocal female cc member who parked in a handicap spot right outside the visitor center. Not in the white lot but right next to the building. I saw no handicap placard or licence plate on her vehicle. She may have abused that privilege. It's a stickler subject for me as sometimes its tough to find a handicap spot for my mom. You made a beeline out the door real quick.....it was cold. If I was mistaken I apologize but if u abused that privilege I hope karma bites you in the ass.

Rock did, I guess he is afraid to post but from what he told me, really no news of interest came out of the meeting.

can someone post any other info of note?

First I want to say that there is no person on earth that could be a better President of the Court Club than Brian. He is absolutely the best that there could be in that position.

I do think that it was ridiculous that Pat Hobbs couldn't take a few minutes for a few questions at all from the club. I'm sure that most that were there are tuned in to what is happening at Rutgers. I'm sure he is very busy, but the fact that he didn't take any questions I feel is totally wrong. Maybe I am in the minority but his presence tonight was almost a waste of time. Would 15 minutes have killed him?

Julie was 1000% better when she spoke to the Court Club than Hobbs tonight.(and I am only talking about how they spoke to the Court Club, not how they will do with fund raising and getting facilities built)

Best of Luck,
Groz

First off...no one is sworn to secrecy. Anything discussed at our meetings is fair game after the fact. No worries there.

As for Hobbs, I was told minutes before his arrival that his time would be brief due to a big time donor that was waiting on him for a dinner appointment. He promised the Club a more comprehensive visit next season.

As for EJ...the man is class and that cannot be denied. I will leave it to others to discuss every word, as I was not in the room for most of what was said. Too busy sweating the auction on Saturday I'm afraid!

As this was most likely my final meeting as President of the Court Club...I look forward to Saturday to bring this otherwise lost season home strong.

Would be hard for Hobbs to say a lot about the program if he is considering a change at the top

I am not cheering the team for playing hard, but I also know they have six players now. Lewis had two fouls the other day and then who plays center? Very tough season and Boylan even said the other day hard to practice hard cause if another kid turns ankle you really have problems. BK, thanks for all you do.

To dismiss what he may have or not said. Here's what he chirped.
1. Lewis is walking wounded. Can only practice 15 min a day. Knee and cyst on ankle that has to be drained every 3 days.
2. Johnson is better than Sanders.
3. Parker was coming to RU but after he saw Johnson practice he decided that he would not get many minutes. Which is true.

I was gonna ask him about Sheridan but figured actions speak louder than words.

Wait what? Well they are losing the most passionate fan I have ever seen in any sport, HS, college, or pros. Thanks for all the hard work over the few years that you were there.

I will be in my usual seat and cheer the team for playing hard and to the best of their abilities. They are college players if we cannot cheer them for playing hard then something is wrong with us fans.

Politically, right now, it was probably best he didn't take questions. No matter what, he would have been asked about EJ's status. No answer he gave would have been definitive, only evasive and vague... Which would have been subject to all sorts of interpretations.

Two and three are total horse bleep.

I guess that big time donor was bigger than a whole roomful of potential facility donors for baaketball. This was the first time meeting this court club group he should have been able to make it more of a priority.

Only at Rutgers do commits flee because they fear they wont play..i dont believe that one considering Johnson has two years not 4

I wouldn't care if Hobbs left to meet a big donor IF he got that big donor check. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. It better of been worth it.

Hobbs did mention that every little bit counts....big or small. Hear that RU66? As much as the large checks are appreciated the 500 a year checks add up when you have a big group donating.

I agree with this. Unless this is a football donor and we will have more of the same as with every AD, the money and effort goes to football and maybe a few years down the line we will spend the time to for example take down the balloons stuck in the RAC rafters or put some soap and water to the outside of the building.

I'd say this is more than a legitimate excuse for being there on a limited time frame.

I don't believe his story

How do you know it wasn't someone who could potentially pony up big time bucks for hoops? C'mon now!

I can't believe that no one is willing to give a record of what happened at the meeting.

What was this, a Court Club meeting or a new episode of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee?

Yeah, and Wally Judge was going to be a lottery pick after sitting out a year after transferring from Kansas State too. And at the B1G Media Day Coach Eddie said he saw enough from Goode last spring that he would help the offense this season. Common thread -- redshirts get to show off in practice against the Rutgers defense. Who couldn't?

But, Johnson is more of a 1 than a 2, so he could be a handy piece next year if Sanders walks (or is pushed) out the door.

Hobbes talked about the facility projects but gave no timetable for start/completion.He cited only 8% of Rutgers alumni are donors and that needs to be doubled. He mentioned how far behind Rutgers is to the league competition in facilities even mentioning some lower level leagues have superior facilities.Everybody has to buy in even if it means making small contributions over a 5 year time frame.

Jordan mentioned the team would be taking a trip to Spain during the summer .He said both Sanders and Freeman would be back next year.Progress being made in regard to the health of the injured centers..Jordan praised the team for never giving up and for their academic achievements the first semester.Johnson was again cited as a outstanding player because of his ability to take it to the basket from the right or left side which separates him from other players.Jordan had a lot of supporters at the meeting which Jordan appreciated.

Thanks to Brian for his leadership the past 5 years and the warm pizza tonight. He and his wife have been tremendous representatives of the Rutgers fan base.Everytime Rutgers plays on the road I always look for them sitting behind the bench.

No support from Hobbs for EJ? And no Q and A allowed about it? Then I'd say his future here is Much in doubt....

And the pumping up of our players needs to stop. From Wally Judge to Goode, to Diallo being at Duke if he had better hands...Johnson will be a nice addition, but he's not at Corey's level

Thank you for posting this. Nice to see that there is one good historian among all the bad comedians. Thanks to Brian for all you have done over the years.

Example 1A as to why having dinners with big wig donors is more important than him staying for the duration of this meeting. Rutgers isn't doubling its donor support anytime soon, so getting large chunks of money is key.
