We’re hoping that the fans will show up and support this football team,” Ash said.

“This team has been through a lot in the last year. In the last months, I’ve been able to watch this team train, form bonds of trust with each other, do everything that we’ve asked them to do – they’ve behaved the right way, they go to class. They’re really excited about playing for each other.”

I can't see us getting under 20,000--a night game, good weather, decent New Jersey media coverage lately. TONS of youth and high school kids are expected.

Everyone who works part of early Saturday or is involved in youth baseball, lacrosse,Scouts, lacrosse, rugby, soccer, and in some parts of the state youth Spring and flag football will be able to make it now that it is not earlier in the day.

15000. Night game doesn't help.
It actually helps a great deal. For every old man whose upset it's at night there are 20 kids who wouldn't have been able to go bc of soccer, lacrosse, and baseball. No way we get 150-200 recruits during a day game.

Trying to get a friend to go with his son who is a stud of a football player and rising sophomore. Can't go because they have a lacrosse game. LOL.
We have lots of competition in our family with my son's rowing regatta (an all day affair) and my other son's party. May just go with the wife for at least the first (or second) half and have dinner at Stuff yer Face.

I think Coach Ash missed the mark on this one. You can't lay the success of recruiting on the fan base attendence in April.
Just thank those that show up and get back on the recruiting trail. In places where its all they have they get big crowds. They are historically successful as well. NJ and Rutgers are neither.

I think we'll get 18-20,000 with the weather looking good. Nice schedule of events going on as well:

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS3-6:30 p.m. - Spring Apparel Sale (The Bubble)
4:30-6:30 p.m. - Student Tailgate (Athletes Glen - includes beer garden for fans 21+)
6:00 p.m. - Stadium Gates Open
7 p.m. - Kickoff
Postgame - Fireworks

I got two women and children to come along based on the weather and fireworks. Can't do fireworks during the day.

If they were concerned about attendance, they shouldn't have picked a date that conflicts with a religious holiday. That is going to cut potential attendance by 10-15%.
But God loves football. Whereas he finds religious holidays a bit silly.

I'll be there. @RU848789 will be there. I'm going to try to bring others.

For those of you w/lame excuses like religion, vacation, conflicting events, missing limbs; where's your sense of priorities? If we lose against OSU this season, it'll be all your fault!

Looks like just you and me, as nobody else from our crew replied they're going, unless you have family members attending...

Even though I had a bad leg injury....I will be there Crutches and all.
Support the Team . Show up !

Yes! That's what I'm talking about. We fans need to up our game and show up.

NO EXCUSES!

Did Clint Eastwood make excuses in High Plains Drifter after getting bull-whipped to death? NO!

Did Austin Powers make excuses when he was struggling to find out who #2 worked for? NO!

Did the US Navy make excuses after the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? NO!

the spring game would be cool if the fans choose which team to root for and you have to sit on that side of the stadium.
Otherwise, even as a total football guy, I still find that night pretty boring. This goes for all spring games around the country.
I can watch anything rutgers football related but the company I bring along needs more .

Wouldn't miss it for anything. Great preseason get-together for our tailgate group, some good food and drink, and some football. Can't wait.

I don't think he's "putting it" on them, at all, to be honest. He's just saying "it will help..." or "it can't hurt" ....to have a nice crowd.

I will be away on vacation, but selecting the second night of Passover was a bad idea.

Next weekend would have been stronger and built off RU day.

disagree...one maybe BTN dictated it if RU wanted airtime...secondly, I think Rutgers Day actually conflicts with the game...most people arent on Busch for that day so if the game is during the day its an issue and if the game is at night, then people who have been at Rutgers Day all day arent schlepping to the spring game after being out all day. Plus you have Ag Field Day and NJ Folk Festival which also pulls people away.

hope you dont like waiting in long lines for a table..Id hit Stuff Yer Face before the game and beat the crowds

I agree he isn't saying all that but it is still a comment that shouldn't be made...by any coach or player in any sport. It can't hurt but telling the fans it's going to help is wrong. It is his job to recruit, not mine or any fan. Otherwise I love him at the helm of Rutgers Football. Just a comment that he could have passed on

Is your spring game free? Hope you guys have a great crowd. It definitely helps with recruits.

All the recruits in for the Nebraska spring game this year from Cali couldn't believe it. That people care so much to watch a practice. You don't see that at USC/UCLA/Cal.

Personally I'm happy with what I've read from Ash for you guys. Such a great hire and a breath of fresh air for many I bet.
