CNN: 2nd Sandusky victim told Paterno in 1971

Quote from the Penn State BWI board. Wish I was making this up.

"In regards to the latest claims, what do you think the end result will be?

I know that we all clamor for wanting the truth, and I get that, but going for the truth will require digging into the past. Sometimes the past needs to be left alone because nothing good can come from digging up difficult realities.

I have no idea about how early everyone knew or knew of the rumors regarding Jerry. I remember hearing the rumors years ago but I didn't really believe. I heard a lot of other things too, that it is better just left alone. Not crimes, just stuff that would tarnish our image."

The victim said it best..."That's just the way Penn State fans are."

How little could one have in life to be proud of, to be so fanatical about a program and a head coach that covered up child molestation, that you'd rather pretend it never happened or excuse it away, than want justice for those whose lives were ruined?

Absolutely pathetic people.

Agree. It's terrible to say but I immediately judge someone who went to Penn State. I have yet to meet a level headed fan who doesn't think Paterno was wrong. Just like Paterno they sweep it under the rug and claim he did all he couldnor should have. There are programs I don't like because of several different reasons.

Penn state is the number 1 because simply their fans are the most delusional and pathetic fans I have ever met. It's disgusting and I dislike everything and everyone associated with that university. If you send your child there after this has happened, you are just as bad.

Isn't it amazing how it took an insurance company who only cares about dollars and cents to uncover this? They hire their own investigators and just want the truth to help them with their suits. What does it say about the school, county, state, etc that none of these bastions of justice wanted to get to the core of it all? That's the f-in shame in all of this!

You see people get away with that kind of thing for years because they were experts at hiding their crimes and projecting the right image.

Based on the evidence, that's not the case with Sandusky. He left more than enough clues to be caught on multiple occasions.

But the powers that be decided to adopt an implicit don't-ask-don't-tell policy when it came to "Jer". And so the controls that were in place to prevent a tragedy like this were rendered useless.

And for what purpose? The only logical conclusion is to protect The Program and the cash cow it had become.

None of my kids would likely have gone there, 2nd kid was accepted the day before it all broke, gave it a few weeks and said no. My third kid made the decision after seeing fans, knowing the situation, and hearing a pro psu relative speak, to never even apply. It is sickening to see some of the statements over there denying anything happened, pissed that people think something did, and attacking any counter discussion.

One thing I also see on the rivals BWI site, is anyone who attempts to discuss it is immediately banned by the Mods, at least over here as annoying as the PSU backers are, the mods have let the conversation flow.

I wonder why Rivals and their mods are subverting the discussion and letting PSU fans basically rip any one who wants to discuss the topic?

I know personally of 2 kids that went there for Med school, and the whole Sandusky-Paterno embarrassment never deterred them. For the life of me, I don't see why.Is there anything else that could still come out that would make the NCAA revisit some more punishment?

I know what you mean. When I was out this weekend, I saw a family where the dad and son were wearing Penn State shirts. My first thought was how could you dress a young boy in that outfit. I was surprised at my negative visceral reaction. I wouldn't have blinked an eye if they were wearing Rutgers, Maryland, or Ohio State shirts.

No chance. NCAA looks pretty stupid for reducing their sanctions. Only thing that could make them look worse would be revisiting again.
