Yea yea I know. Eat before the game. This wasn't for me but my mom. So i igured she had the sausage samich last game so I'd get her chicken fingers and fries. It was a clustrmuck when I got there. Apparently it was a popular item or someone didn't expect anyone to show. This was 25 minutes before tip. There were like 15 people who paid and were waiting for the chicken to be cooked. They said 2 minutes. 5 minutes later a woman came out and said the fry machine wasn't working. They would replace with chips. I asked for my money back since I still had 10 people waiting ahead of me. So I went to the other side to get her a pizza. Why wasn't I surprised when I saw no pizzas were ready and they also had no hotdogs ready. I waited 10 minutes for my pizza and there were some waiting for hot dogs. The line for Annies Pretzels was 30 deep. Either people were hungry or there was a late start.Comments?

Come early on Wednesday for $1 dollar hot dogs.

plan ahead and make sure everyone eats before they go...also you could just wait until a few minutes before halftime to get your goodies and avoid the lines

Tough for a 1 pm Sunday tip -- I leave the house @ 11:30, and had a lot of running before hand. I like to be in the lot about 30 minutes before tip off, my 13 year old likes to eat constantly....and he's allergic to gluten. Becomes tough.

Get an email out to Hobbs!
He will fix it.
He is our Handy Manny!

Our new "Packers" rallying cry for athletic department improvements should be:

"Go, Pat, Go!"

We were in a hurry and my son went with a friend so the 1st time ever we planned on him and his friend eating lunch at the game (gulp!). He said they were out of hot dogs. I am not sure how this is possible. this was with 12 minutes left in the 1st half.

Well they had no hotdogs prepared at 10 min before tip either. Hobbs better go the pro route on these conscession stands and calculaters

My theory of no hot dogs because of a "quality" issue is possible. Either they weren't ordered or the refridgerator was unplugged.

People who are too lazy to eat before the game and then complain that the RAC food is not 5 star w white tablecloths are their own worst enemies. Those are volunteers working the concession stands who would be challenged to operate a George Foreman grill without adult supervision. The large crowd for Monmouth just made things worse from a service perspective.

Look at it this way. If you were served the sausage sandwich (gross) or the hotdog (yuck) you'd likely be complaining about it being uncooked or just plain low grade dog food . At least you saved a few bucks by not getting served. The only food items I ever bought at the RAC were bottled water and the large pretzel. Both pretty safe choices.

In the future you may want to consider stopping off for fast food along the way to the RAC. But then you'd miss out on the opportunity to complain about the RU Concessions on this board.

Merry Christmas to you old fool. This was a thread about concession gripes. Not a thread about complaining about concession gripes. Why open it?

I usually bring some pretzels or something from home, then just buy a soda. Getting actual food at the RAC can be a nightmare

Curious ... What is the RAC's policy for carrying in soft drinks/water and food? Can a sub sandwich be carried in without hiding it in a jacket pocket?

Yes. I've brought subs in and always bring my cloth bag filled with peanuts. They only have questioned me once about 10 yrs ago. I said there's a snake in it as I opened the bag up. As far as drinks always put in jacked. It's much cheaper and you keep the bottle top. Once I brought in a 32 oz Gatorade . Looked like I was pregnant.

I'm sure KM will call me out for not supporting RU concessions now.

So the problem is not that the concessions are lousy it's that the fans are lazy. Got it.

Was Knightmoves even at the game

Not sure of the relevance of your point. No I was not at the game. The drive to the RAC from my home in SW Florida is a little beyond my cruising range.

It looks like my post has incurred the wrath of both you and your brother in this thread.

they took my eight year old's water bottle cap at the woman's game. lotta common sense right there. can't make this shit up.

Unopened you are fine. Once brought an unopened gallon of water and 3 empty water bottles. i hate paying for water.

You'd think being from Florida you'd be more familiar with the concept of giving the fans a Disney-like experience. I think living 1500 miles away and not attending games kinda disqualifies you from having an educated opinion on the topic of concessions.

I've asked this before but even Einstein couldn't explain it. Can someone please explain the logic in this about the RAC and the stadium?

If I want to bring a bottle of water in it must be sealed and have the cap on.
If I buy a water at a concession stand, the cap is removed from the water presumably to lessen injuries when *I* or someone else throws the bottle on the field, court or in the stands.

I once tried to ask the esteemed longtime Senior Associate Athletic Director for Facilties/Events/Operations, but the answer was a typically bureaucratic non-answer.

I assume they want you to bring your own bottle to throw than purchasing one. Or they may think there may be a bad call or something and everyone will head to the water stand to buy waters to throw.

I think RU848789 once explained that a bottle of water with our without the cap can strike with the same amount of force...unless of course you get hit with the cap itself. Ah, the logic of bureaucrats.

To me the worst thing about the RAC concessions isn't so much the overpriced lousy food, it's the slow service. It's almost incomprehensibly slow. Someone should conduct a study of their procedures and distribute it to every concessioneer in the country as an instruction on how not to set up your concession. I mean, you can wait in line for 5 minutes if there are two people in front of you ordering a couple of hot dogs and sodas. It's amazing. The line gets 20 deep and there are still people standing behind the counter meandering around like they have nothing to do. It's madness what takes place there.

I'll take a stab, but don't want to defend.

The unopened policy stems from them wanting to keep alcohol out of the stadium/RAC.
The removal of bottle cap is so people don't throw them.

I understand that people who bring their own can throw their bottle cap, but the amount of people who bring their own is very small.

I can't tell you how many times in my younger days we'd bring a couple of those little airplane bottles of liquor into the game and then buy a soda to pour it into. It's also pretty simple to put a couple cans of beer in your pants legs if you want to have some suds while watching the game. Haven't done either in years, but I'm sure it's still easily accomplished.

Nice to bring some humor into a sad overall situation. Maybe we can discuss why it's so hot in the building next. Happy Holidays. $$$$

Hey Colonel,

I was a MBB season ticket holder behind the RU bench for more than 25 years before moving to FL in Jan 2015. I missed very few home games during that time.

If that disqualifies me from having an educated opinion on the topic of RAC concessions then you are reporting to a much higher authority than the rest of us.

Anybody else miss the machines that popped fresh popcorn? The smell was the first thing that would hit you when you entered the RAC. When did they bite the dust? About four, five years ago?
I sure do. That popcorn was delicious. The smell was great as well.

Maybe it is a legal issue? If RU sold you the bottle with the cap on it and you threw it and knocked out another fan or player RU might be more likely to be liable. Just throwing out a guess.

Here's one. Someone should conduct a survey of their procedure and distribute it to every college basketball program in the country as an instruction on how to not run your basketball program.
