I know @Russ Wood asked in a different thread,. Here's some information.

Current PG on their roster Ty Lawon, Darren Collison and Langston Galloway.

The Kings have picks 5 and 10. Expected to take D' Aaron Fox at 5 and a Forward at number 10 in Mock Drafts.

Would they consider Sanders in the 2nd Round? As mentioned in another thread he is working out at the same camp as Fox in California.....maybe the Kings checked out Fox and liked what they saw in Sanders, so they invited him to workout.

We will know by Tuesday.

Sanders could go undrafted. Then get sent to the d league. This is all feasible. The NBA knows what fills the seats.

Invitations are standard operating procedure for teams to gather information....whether he stays or not, is still up to the player...very confident that RU is positioned with recruiting for either a departure or return of Sanders.

I'm telling you guys he is gone. Plan was 2 years at Rutgers and bon vayage.

I hear you, but just because he said that or that was the plan, it does not mean it happens.

I think its 60 40 he comes back. Could honestly be seen 60 40 either way.

Not everyone gets these invites. Its a job interview. They could see potential and get Sanders undrafted. Stash him for two years, and let him develop in their d league.

Thinking he is gone, and will end up in D League, D league salaries beginning next season are much more in line to a nice salary to play basketball for a living. Just as all NBA free agents have benefited with crazy contracts, more money is available in D League, so players like a Sanders will be thrilled to make 75k to play basketball for 9 months a year hoping to eventually get an NBA call up. I won't be surprised if he chooses this route...

What exactly does Sanders do that is anywhere close to NBA level? He's an elite athlete. That's it. Doesn't shoot well, has no left hand, not great on defense, below average passer, not tall enough or skilled enough to play the 2, bball IQ below average.

Sure and the SAC Kings did not just invite him for their 2nd workout. They sent out a fake tweet.

bball IQ below average... is on level with the rest of the NBA.

Well I'll say this, you can argue Sanders has had a better college career than Briscoe in the 2 years they both have had at the collegiate level. And Briscoe will likely get a training camp invite. He did well at the combine

Put Sanders on Kentucky and I think he shines even more. Honerable mention for 2 years straight in arguanly the best conference in college basketball. Defensively him and Briscoe are close..offensively I'd give Sanders the edge. Athletically, Sanders has the advantage but Briscoe has the better NBA body.

The kid has game. Enough that the Kings want to take a look at him. Gotta be happy for him.

With that said, I hope he comes back for at least another year and improve his game and stock..as well as help this program make a postseason run

Unless you have heard something I don't see how the departure of Sanders isn't a total disaster for Rutgers next year. Williams and the two guards coming in (if you can count Mensah at this point) has you confident?!? Again unless you know of some other guard near Coreys talent level falling in our lap this summer, then your statement is absurd.

I don't think Sanders will turn pro unless he's assured of a guaranteed contract
and the D-League won't be an option unless he has one.
Europe or China are a possibility, if the money's right.
Sanders probably knows one more year and a better supporting cast will make his game look better and a better chance for guaranteed money after his junior year.
Most 2nd rounders don't get that guaranteed money, but if Corey is an early 2bd rounder then it could happen.
That scenario is more likely to happen next year in my opinion.

Agree....it's almost June. The pickings are slim and getting slimmer by the day.

The only good thing is you can almost guarantee a vey good replacement PG 30 minutes per game.....maybe Geno Thorpe. But, he may be down to Pittsburgh and Syracuse as landing spots according to the latest reports.

Briscoe IMO is a much better player than Sanders------especially right now.

Pro coaches are not taking a guy to stash him for 2-3 years.

All you do then is develop him for the next coach.

To be fair, you never know what you're going to get the Kings on draft day. They took 3 centers the past 2 years when they still had DeMarcus Cousins. There is a reason why they are one of the worst teams in the NBA consistently.

There is no way Briscoe is a MUCH better player. I saw him play a lot last year and I can't say anything Briscoe does much better than Sanders other than size. Maybe he distributes better but Tough to compare given the talent around the Borge of them. Sanders is the better scorer and defender.

How would he have realistically completed the semester not to mention midterms and finals while being on the west coast for the last two months?

Apparently all of his courses are basically online lol. Seems like he may be gone.... unfortunate.

Nothing like the haters. Kid entertains for two years, and some will just come here to bash.

How about wishing him luck, since he is one of us?

The program will be able to rebound, and like others said, Pikiell has been preparing for this.Freeman and Williams can lead the charge, and Sanders can come back to the banks when he has a break. It is pouring rain, but the sky is not falling.

I would bet that's correct? The d league gives some kids more NBA hope and there's always Europe. I would say if he thought he could get drafted it's worth the extra year. I don't think he ever had aspirations of graduating. He always knew college was just an opportunity to get better and he has done that. Can he get more polished with one more year at Rutgers? Nobody knows. He would have a lot of eyeballs watching him; that's for sure.

With all that said, I hope he comes back and had a monster year and does get drafted. Without Corey, it's going to be a really difficult year for us.

I'm not sure anyone is bashing anything? I'm certainly not. We just didn't expect to lose him and that's more of a distinct possibility now. If he leaves I wish him all the luck in the world.

You are right. There are a lot of people wishing him well, and being realistic here.

Corey potentially not coming back could be a setback, but the season does not start until November, so a lot can change between now and then for this coming season....that's 4 to 5 months of other things that can happen that can place the program in a better and longer term position to succeed.

You don't replace 30+ minutes of offense and defense and ability with Sanders, but the team is being structured to win beyond just one season next year and there could be a late addition to the equation that helps offset the potential departure.

We would be having the same conversation at this time next year, asking the same "what is going to happen".....the best case scenario is in the best interest of the player's goals. RU was not going to be expected to contend for 20 wins or an NIT birth this coming season. The goal for this summer IMO is to continue the improved recruiting for 2018 and 2019 and position the program to make those steps forward. We aren't being realistic in having the expectations of Corey being a 4 year starter....it would be preferred since that would be a trend line that benefits RU, but there are going to be goals for Year 3, 4 & 5.

I'm confident in the staff either way.

The question is where can he learn more, D league or Rutgers. Personally, I think Rutgers will give him the more personalized coaching to improve his game where as the pro's they tend to be more cut throat. In the end, it's one more year before you have to prove it anyway.

Agreed. I think this year he can show out. Its a transition year till we get a solid 18' class. Team is his. If he shows he can shoot or is improving and can go left occasionally hell be a round 2 pick.

He hsould return or sit in the D-league/Europe.

I certainly don't wish him ill will. however I watch the NBA. A lot. He is not an NBA player. I'm not insulting him or putting him down, he just is what he is. Its a mistake to leave.

Patrick nails my sentiment

He is a terrific basketball player as a soph. But he isn't a NBA player ...not yet anyways. For him to be a NBA player as a soph on college means he is one of the 5 or 10 best players in the college game

He wasn't that last year. He was very very good ...but.just not that last year

However ...he has his own situation to think about which I totally respect him for properly exploring his options and understand why he would turn pro now if he did and means not being in the NBA

I think the kid has tremendous upside and if he buys into coach P and the staff,
That will be his best chance for the NBA

But Corey has been NOTHING short of being a unselfish player for RU ...and I'm rooting for him to do well

Also, and possibly most important, where can he get paid.

Undrafted by team, stashed in d league for two years, brought up to back up years later. Sanders wants to play at a high level and get paid as soon as possible.

He would benefit from another year in a structured S&C Program.

Rick Briscoe IMO distributes and defends better at this stage than Corey does.

Briscoe also plays with too much weight, and would have trouble guarding a lead guard. Naturally with better shooters your assist and distribution would go up. I think Kentucky has better shooters..makes it easier.

If his profession is going to be a professional basketball player I am not sure coming back to college is the right move. Athletes have a finite time to play and make money. Although college basketball is morphing in to the NBA style of game they are still different. His style of play is definitely suited for the NBA, i cant speak about other professional basketball leagues.
