Corey Sanders

as the announcers called out on the BTN recap....this is the Good Corey..under control. I so wish he could just watch and understand ...same for Freeman. makes ALL the difference.

Let's be honest, the only chance we have every game is if our star , Corey, takes over . Against a really good Seton Hall team and against the worst Badger team in 15 years, if Corey does not hit his shots and take over the games, we lose both despite unbelievable outstanding defensive intensity and pressure all night long. Do we as fans wish Corey plays like this every game ? Sure but it has not happened despite Corey being a junior and the consistency we are clamoring for has not occurred. Tonight, Pike let Corey do more and almost every night he has to for us to stay in games. There was almost no weave offense but more of the ball in Corey's hands to orchestrate. This has to be the formula the rest of the way. Corey has to play 35 minutes every night and Pike has to live and die with good Corey or not so good Corey. The rest of the guys on the team try real hard, Deshawn, Mike, Eugene, Issa, but the team goes as far as Corey takes us. Geo is not ready and has been disappearing for stretches of games which is only attributed to him being a freshman. I have a real good feeling that Corey will come up Big the rest of the way. So the team has to continue to play intense defense and rebound better and let's see where Corey takes us.

0 turnovers in 35 mins. Awesome. And he played the point more tonight, I liked it. Made so many ridiculous “Corey” shots, those fake-drive pull-up fade-away from right inside the arc. Those are huge shots.

Corey was money tonight - especially the jumper. And a mid-range jumper!. The 3 late the game after the Whisky comeback was HUGE!

and 4 rebounds. (all in 2nd half I think)...

People on this board have blasted some of us when we criticize Sanders or Freeman.

Freeman played better tonight, although even Jay Will called him out for not kicking out quick enough on one possession (I didn’t always have the sound on as I had it on my 2nd tv so didn’t listen to the whole game). Same thing many of us had said. But when he tries to dribble on a fast break...O vey. I think it was Baker in the 2nd half who just waited behind him to just lose the ball so he was there for it.

Sanders. What can you say? When he is on...he is great. Unlike most players, he seems most comfortable leaning backwards during his jump shot from that 13-18 foot range. Get him 4 or 5 shots like that in first 8 minutes or so and you prob have an idea of the Sanders you have for the game. Then you can dictate the offense around that

Someone that can step back and shoot falling backwards is great because the defender has to come forward to respect it which creates opportunity for the fake and drive.

After the Wisc guard hit the three to tie the game he and Corey had a conversation as the teams came back
on the court. Would love to know what was being said.

I noticed that, too.
Both were kind of smiling.

Then shortly afterwards Corey hits 2 daggers.

Made me think Corey said watch me now.

I didn’t get the feeling Corey was arrogant in that conversation. Just very confident.
After he hit the 1st shot, I thought, we got this. Corey is taking over.

I sit right on the baseline and overheard them being complimentary of each others game and Corey said something about letting them hang around aka should have put the daggers in them.

Big being in the wisky comeback was Geo missing the layup and then they got an easy transition basket. Would have been 55-48, instead 53-50.

This game clearly showed the importance of Sanders to team success because once again Rutgers struggled to score 60 points against a league opponent .He is one of the few players on the team that can create and make a shot off the dribble.More importantly Sanders wants the ball in crunch time which is the definition of a go to scorer.

The team has no margin for error because there aren't enough points being scored on a consistent basis.Opponents will surely try to limit Sanders possessions by double teams and putting their best defender to guard him.How Rutgers reacts to such defensive schemes will likely tell the story for the rest of the season as to the won/loss record.Winning at home is a absolute must and Sanders must lead the way.

I don't know if anyone noticed but doesn't Corey play better when he gets angry on the court. He's always more focused and motivated, it happened right after that big screen he ran into in the 2nd half and over his career.

I still can’t believe teams allow Corey to get that jumper just inside the key.

Freeman was solid in 2nd half after a poor 1st half--wonder if coaches had a heart-to-heart with him at halftime. Corey was flat-out all-conference this game.

This is Corey’s team. Can’t win unless he has a good game. He is the only one that can create his own shots.

I have been liking Corey more and more this season. His role has definitely changed and he has still been a great teammate on the court. It would be very easy and understandable for him to be upset.

Not sure he is captain material, but I think he is a better candidate then a guy taking 3s while his team is huddling among themselves and then still shooting them when the team huddles with coaches.

Corey shoots SOO much better when he puts more arc on his shot. You can tell he's been working hard.

I am and have always been a fan of Corey, even if you do want to kill him from time to time. Last night, late in the game, Corey and/or the team had just made another play on defense, and the game looked in hand. As Corey was walking down the court opposite the RU bench, a few of us were standing and congratulating him. He pointed down several times and said "My floor," or something like that. I think there is a photo of it on the RU website. Great stuff.

Corey’s been playing great and won us the game. Don’t think he’s yet mastered drive and dish—he goes so fast and hard that he can’t take advantage of bigs coming at him on drives.

Many people mistake those who criticize Corey as Corey haters. No one hates Corey. He has talent, lots of it. He can take over and control a game. We know that. All we ask is consistency. For him to be that guy that so many people say is an NBA player that is the only thing missing from his resume. Consistency, consistency, consistency.

Corey was outstanding last night in every phase of the game. I hope he has several more games close to this one before this season ends.

Corey is fun to watch at times, when he is on and engaged on both sides of the court we are tough.

Any one here, think he is going to be a first round draft pick at this point, or if he will be coming back here.
