Creme Still Has Us at the Dance (Even After the Ohio State Tournament Loss)

[smoke] Unfortunately I can't believe it will happen. That's what years of being an RU WBB fan does to your mind.

Fortunately for Rutgers, this year the bottom part of the at large pool is quite weak. Charlie Creme has been doing this a while. He should have a pretty good handle on who should be in

I think an NCAA spot is too close to call. The rating and schedule strength of RU by Massey (56, 37), Sagarin (43, 27), Moore (45, 14), and Realtime RPI (32, 14) have a fair amount of divergence--you can tell that Massey is points-based. The mean and median are both 44 for rating; I think the cut-off for close-to-guaranteed for a P5 school would be 40. The loss to Northwestern was damaging. However, the SoS mean and medians are 23 and 20.5, respectively. It depends on how the selection committee weighs the two factors. RU squeaks by on conference record--no more than one game under 0.500. Too close to call.

Watching the team play of late I have to question whether they even want to be in it or not. If they aren't going to step up play getting in to go one and done and just to get another banner isn't worth it.

We'll see. No longer in their control.

I'm wondering if the pressure of getting Vivian to 1000,along with Tyler trying to get ahead of Cappie in the RUWBB record books had something to do with the way team played. Not trying to make excuses, but wondering just how much this team was able to handle the extra pressure going after those accomplishments put on the team .

I'm sure they played to win and the NCAA was in the back of their minds ( wanting an invite) and they felt that pressure to earn an invite , especially when the season started going south .

yeah, I'm not saying they didn't want to win...just that I don't see the fire and energy and focus you would expect from a team pushing to get in...

For what it's worth, the usual cut-off for P5 teams having a really good chance to get into the tourney is around RPI 45.

Seems like all three programs my family has rooting interest in are in the Albany Region
and Rutgers starts off playing one of them.
Looks like I can only root for Rutgers to be in final 4.

I’d love for Rutgers to play a tournament game in Columbia, SC. 2 hour drive for me, I’d be there with bells on!
