What the Flyers have done--head hunting in Phila--with intent to injure 2 players--in incredible in 2016. You don't have to wonder why from Vancouver to NY...they are the most hated franchise in hockey.
Some asshole fan even threw something at Orlov while he was being tended to by the trainer on the bench. I'm glad they were given the delay of the game that allowed Washington to continue the onslaught.
He will definitely be suspended, but I think the fact that it wasn't malicious (although obviously very reckless), it's the playoffs, and that he hasn't been suspended before will work in his favor. Then again, even if they give him two games, that could very well be "the rest of the playoffs, and probably the beginning of next season." Hopefully that is the case. Too bad they can't suspend the fanbase.Agreed. Throwing something at the guy while he is on the bench goes beyond the pale.
Also, little doubt that the Flyers player will be done for the rest of the playoffs, and probably the beginning of next season -- and rightfully so. I don't think he really meant to hit the guy like that, but its just completely irresponsible. Have to be smarter and more careful than that.

Simmons sucker punch of a player who would never fight (McDonough) earlier this year was another example of the Flyers complete lack of class.No. The Flyers need to stop the violence WITH intent to injure. But claim "it's the nature of the sport"
I don't want to be defending plays like this, but I really don't think he meant to throw such a dirty hit. After Orlov hits the boards, Bellemare immediately stops playing and shows concern for Orlov. You don't see that often, especially in the playoffs. He should definitely be suspended, but this isn't like Matt Cooke a few years ago who did this on a seemingly regular basis. Bellemare is near the bottom of the list in Flyers' PIMs. His 15 PIMs he picked up in that one play were more than half of what he had throughout his 74 games this season, and last year he only had 18 PIMs. I think it is very unlikely he went in looking to make such a dirty play, but it was absolutely reckless, careless, and suspension-worthy.Debatable.
So true every town every fan base and unfortunately I have meet a few of our own. So long as there are sports and fans (fanatics) you will always have that certain few.If you want to read up on some real criminal activity check into the guy who was wearing a Devils hat and stabbed a 20 something your old to death in Rittenhouse park in Center City Philly the other month because an argument ensued over hockey.
There are morons and scumbags from every fan base.

Both of you need to stop.
Philadelphia sports fans are the worst-behaved, period, end.
The NFL keeps internal stats on stadium incidents. It's not even close. Like seriously not even close.
And you have access to these statistics? It's amazing how you know everything.
Jealous?
I used to have access to those statistics because I worked for the League Office for 10 years. Pretty much everyone here knows that. I was directly in charge of everything that was remotely statistical.
I went to every single NFL venue many times. Philly is the worst. The only city that even comes close to threatening Philly's title is Oakland. The difference is that in Oakland the Raiders fans fight among themselves.
Jealous?

I'm not going to come at you with statistics because I don't have them. But look at @MrsScrew's post above and tell me how often this kinda stuff happens outside Philly. Yes, it's anecdotal, but there's a reason everyone other than Philly fans think Philly fans are the worst. Today is not the day to be defending this by saying "there are morons and scumbags everywhere." Own up to the embarrassment. The point is these threads are dumb as shit. There are morons and scumbags everywhere. I guess everytime I witness an asshole Rutgers fan they have to be a Philly fan?

Yea so Jealous.
I knew this because you like to talk about it so much but clearly you don't have access to that data anymore so you're point means nothing as of 4/19/16. Or if you did have access then then you would be committing criminal activity.

There are morons and scumbags from every fan base. Let's stop acting like it's just isolated in Philly.
I'm not condoning the behavior of the fans last night but do we really need a Philly bashing thread every month of the year when probably over 20% of our fanbase is Philly fans?
That was Philly on Philly violent crime.
A few drunks jumped a crazed homeless dude and one got shanked to death unfortunately.
Last night was a disgrace by the fans and especially the players, 6-1 loss and then attempting to injure.
I think a good chunk of our fanbase sucks. Hate to say it, but it is what it is. Thankfully, collectively, we don't come across as bad as Flyers fans do (or Eagles). I don't have much opinion on the Sixers of Phillies.I'm not defending the behavior of Flyers fans last night. I'm saying how tired the Philly bashing threads are when a good chunk of our fanbase is Philly fans.
It was a guy wearing a Devils hat that got into an argument with 1 Flyers fan and pulled out a knife and stabbed him over 10 times. He didn't get "jumped" by a few drunks so get your facts straight.
Check the police report.
Eyewitnesses saw a group having a verbal dispute with a man over his hat, they were taunting him for a bit and a physical confrontation ensued with 2 of the young men and the homeless guy.
Sad, but it shows that when you're drunk and you run your mouth in Philly it can be deadly.
Flyers fans are the worst in pro sports with their tough guy syndrome, this bad karma has led to zero Cups since 1975, NONE.
