Be one of the first 500 at the Penn State game:

PROMOTION(S): Senior Night Presented by Metro by T-Mobile/Fan Appreciation Night/First 500 fans will receive Steve Pikiell bobblehead dolls courtesy of the Rutgers University Alumni Association.

i do but with work there is no shot i get the to be first 500 lol

These first-500 promotions at the RAC are so small time and embarrassing. Giving away a gift to a little more than 5% of those attending is ridiculous. If you can't buck up the money for a real promo giveaway, just skip it.

Agree, if you're not there when the doors open you have no shot to get anything. They should have enough for a decent portion of the crowd.

I went to an RU/SHU game at the Pru a while ago and everyone got a Bobby Gonzalez bobblehead.

The idea is to get people in their seats early to create the best atmosphere possible, a problem that people on here are very vocal about anyway.

If the low number of 500 is indeed to entice folks to get to their seats early then it is a spectacular fail; no rational person that normally is getting to the RAC around tip is going to try and get there a little early to score a bobble head if there is only 500. Anticipating a sell out, 6.5% of the gate will get a bobble head, I am guessing you would need to be at the gate at least an hour before tip, probably earlier. The earliest I ever get to the RAC is probably in my seat a full 30 minutes before tip (early enough to enjoy the Russian guy on the video) and there are always at least 1K to 1.5K in the building already for a run of the mill game. If they had 4K give aways for a normal game I might try to get there early, probably 5K for a sell out; any fewer and it is just too early to ensure getting one.

You know... the fact that there is a thread about wanting the bobble head proves that this promotion is already working.

That’s comical. To make a 7pm game I have to leave work early because even if all goes to plan, if I get to the RAC by 6:30 it usually takes 28 mins to park because campus police hasn’t realized yet they need to block off non-game traffic and open up more lanes to get into the lots

I'd certainly love to add the bobblehead to my RU collection of memorabilia, but there's no way I can get there at 6 p.m. when doors open.

To anybody who gets there early: if you don't care about the bobblehead and want to make an easy 20 bucks, I'll meet you at halftime and give you $20 for your bobblehead.

Exactly. Plus, the other reason for a promo like this is to build goodwill with the fan base. But, when 90%+ of the fan base is shut out of the giveaway, it has the opposite effect of building disappointment and perhaps even anger. Just stupid marketing.

Agree. These promos are a joke. If you're not there as soon as the doors open, you're pretty much out of luck. And I'm convinced they hold back half the supply of whatever's being given away for "VIPs," cronies and other special guests.

Either do it right and have enough for everyone (or every kid at least) or don't bother.

You are 100% correct. Every time I go to a wrestling match and it's pack I look at my wife and say this traffic pattern is the easiest fix in the world. Yet no one at Rutgers Campus Police can figure it out.
Their ineptitude truly boggles the mind.

I would disagree. The reason is to get you in the RAC early, without food or drink, which would result, most likely, in you having to buy overpriced food and drink that you would otherwise not buy.

I'm not getting my Pike bobblehead until it's the one holding the championship trophy.

LOL, that bobble head looks more like George Bush than Pike!

There are people on this website who have made solid and concrete suggestions on this topic but were met with, “nah, we got it.”

I wonder how much these bobble heads will be worth after we win the B1G tournament

Really ? I think the bobblehead looks pretty good. Helped Steve out a little with age, weight, coloring and hairline, but my public pictures are all from 10 years ago for the same reasons...
Agree. The bobblehead looks great as far as bobbleheads go. Most of 'em look absolutely nothing like the person they are trying to depict.
