Does Greg finally have a Big 10 staff

Wrong. A short sided coach gives him the DC job which he never did and wasn’t even a great CBS coach. A great recruiter yes. A smart coach does what Greg did. Hire an established DC who to me did a heck of a job in year one running a defense that had to be on the field waaaayyyy more than probably 95% of the defenses in the country!
I keep seeing this but it simply not true. If you look at the statistics Rutgers defense was rank 78th out of 130 teams in plays per game with 67.5. So in reality they were on the field less then most teams.

Which is less than Schiano will make in the same amount of time. So does that help you understand how outrageous his salary is relative to his results ?
it's our fanbase, most really are not that bright. there may be booksmarts but common sense and street smarts are woefully lacking. I also think we've a lot of battered women syndrome fans. the lack of a real football iq on this board is sad

I keep seeing this but it simply not true. If you look at the statistics Rutgers defense was rank 78th out of 130 teams in plays per game with 67.5. So in reality they were on the field less then most teams.

granted it's not transitive but you're overall view is spot on

it's our fanbase, most really are not that bright. there may be booksmarts but common sense and street smarts are woefully lacking. I also think we've a lot of battered women syndrome fans. the lack of a real football iq on this board is sad
I honestly don't think that I've ever felt so inferior in my life.

His misplaced arrogance is like a little fishing boat compared to my fully deserved arrogance which is like a nuclear aircraft carrier. So, basically, I find his attempts at arrogant proclamations cute.

I recommend we all stomp around self-proclaiming our greatness. This is the way. 😀

It’s year 4: do we have a P5 caliber QB yet? It’s time !
When the Sporting News ranks the 10 best players on the RU 2023 roster and the first 9 are all on Defense you know it’s going to be another long season. Greg’s recruiting on Offense has been a complete disaster. If we get somehow to 5 wins it will be solely because the D won some games for us and nothing the O did again. And hopefully not cost us games like Iowa.

reading these threads one could feel so.

the old adage, 'you are the company you keep' and all

look you're a bright guy, you can't read this board and not shake your head at the overall stupidity of our fanbase.

Just wondering if you gained all that advantageous "street smarts" pimping hookers and dealing blow on the mean streets of Middletown (or wherever the fvck you're from).

Even if any cases where made in this or any other thread, which they have not in this thread despite your self-congratulatory victory declaration, what possible value could there possibly be in it anyway? What is it that you believe you've won? 🙂

All any of us is doing here is entertaining one-another. Nothing is actually being accomplished beyond that.

I think too many people using social media, forums, chat-rooms, whatever, have lost sight of that reality. Especially among the "but I was right" crowd.

Have you seen the distribution of the last two classes, or do you just like to scream about stuff that does not exist?
Yes I see where Rutgers recruits players. Greg is too focused on New York City area Catholic high schools. Hence Nunzio and Augie.

Greg needs to refocus on top Southeast talent and South Jersey public schools. Greg needs to get his act together as a football coach. Let us see if Kirk C can help out Greg in 2023.

Isiah Pacheco - Chris Ash recruit, Super Bowl champion, South Jersey public high school player - regressed under Greg.

Ron Dayne, Heisman Trophy winner and first round NFL draft pick, played for a tiny public school in South Jersey. Rutgers did not bother to recruit Ron, who enrolled at Wisconsin and became the greatest ever Division 1 college running back by yards gained. How many more is Rutgers going to miss?

Ron Dayne played at Wisconsin from 1996-1999. What is your point with regard to this thread about Greg having a B1G staff? Or are you just whining about everything and nothing all at once?

As far as recruiting, you have no idea what you are blathering about.
And some of the most talented recent players have come from Erasmus Hall- are you suggesting Greg shut that productive pipeline down? Sounds like a dumb plan. None of the recruits from last 3 classes are from NYC area Catholic schools. 😂

2024 Class 5- of 8 recruits from outside of NY/NJ
2023 Class- 11 of 19 recruits from outside NY/NJ; 6 from Florida; 3 from South Jersey
2022 Class- 10 of 21 recruits from outside NY/NJ; 3 from Florida; 2 from South Jersey

Pacheco was recruited by Henry Baker. Ash had little to do with his recruiting. And he did not regress under Greg. Again you are:

Analysis appreciated. I am looking forward to the season. Nervous about the QB, OL, WR, RB, TE, and P positions. I am excited about the defense and K roles. Let us see how the team does this fall.

Seems as though three years in with the 4th yr on the way do we finally have a big 10 coaching staff? There’s not much left on the original staff, the north Jersey hs guys ( Nunz and Hoffman) were seemingly a bust from both a recruiting and coaching standpoint, Fran Brown was a top 10 national recruiter but the secondary’s performance was lousy and virtually the whole original staff has been turned over, will be interesting to see where the skill and performance level ends up. We obviously still don’t have enough talent to deal with the premier teams in the east, can we finally make a move annd be competitive against the middle of the road teams teams in the Big Ten East and west.
Kirk Ciarrocca is in his first season back as Rutgers’ offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach after being hired by head coach Greg Schiano on Jan. 7, 2023. Ciarrocca, who has over 30 years of coaching experience (19 as an offensive coordinator), returns to Piscataway after serving on Schiano’s staff for three seasons and winning two bowl games from 2008-10. He has previously been selected as a semifinalist for the Broyles Award and coached 26 players who had their name called in the NFL Draft (six in the first round).

Joe Harasymiak (hare-uh-SIM-ee-ack) is in his second season as the Rutgers football defensive coordinator in 2023. A native of Waldwick, New Jersey, Harasymiak spent the prior two seasons as co-defensive coordinator at Minnesota and was previously head coach at Maine.
In 2022, Harasymiak earned a spot as a nominee for the Broyles Award, an honor bestowed to college football's top assistant coaches.

Want to know more about them and the rest of staff , click link
and you'll find the staff is quite a good one, but not the perfect one some expect to have

I'm no cheerleader and I appreciate your reply. I share your same concerns on the position groups, except for RB, but your concern is warranted, especially considering the transfer portal has been quiet for RU.

I expected Ciarrocca to select some players from the portal for the 2023 Offense but there is no sign of that other than the WR Brantley from W Illinois. I didn’t expect him to stand pat with our current roster on Offense.

It’s not that the coaches aren’t casting a wide enough net, it’s that no one with other offers wants any part of this moribund offense and backward philosophy. Who can blame them ?

Northwestern just got a productive WR from the portal to boost their 89th ranked passing game (210 ypg).

What was ours ranked ? There’s your answer.

Since I started this thread, I will try to get back to the original point. It appears GS took a shot at bringing a staff that was heavily oriented to recruiting NJ/NY with particular emphasis on north Jersey, Nunz and Hoffman failed to deliver a single 4 or 5 star and obviously delivered a poor level of coaching development.
Fran Brown delivered a very strong class from SouthJersey, coaching the DB’s let’s be optimistic and say average relative to skill development.
Looking back on Greg’s original tenure he made a huge effort in Nj with mixed results initially, but he did bring in some quality Nj/NY players eventually but the real significant upgrade of talent came from Fl. With something like 25-30 roster spots going to Fl recruits.
Talent starts to take notice when you begin to win games.
I think GS missed the boat with some of the coaching hires for the initial staff. Has he got this issues fixed yet, it appears that the defense has made significant progress with last years DC coordinator and the LB hires, hopefully the offense will begin to show the progress we would like to see

I'd like to believe the O will improve but not a fan of the hire or direction and certainly Greg's meddlesome ways

I'd more more impressed with this defense if it held offenses like UM, PSU and OSU to 4 touchdowns a game. Until then let's not pat ourselves on the back too hard.

I expected Ciarrocca to select some players from the portal for the 2023 Offense but there is no sign of that other than the WR Brantley from W Illinois. I didn’t expect him to stand pat with our current roster on Offense.

I was hoping for about 40 new players on offense via the portal.

You have 85 scholarships across 4 yrs. You cannot just select unlimited players from the portal, you have to manage a total roster. People in the portal are recruits in the true sense of the word. The portal isn't a draft you don't get to select who you want you must recruit them, the ones that are potential difference makers probably will need to be paid (NIL). Top portal recruits want to play for a top ranked program build their resume and get paid. It not like give a call and they will show up

Greg’s game plan is to coach them up. Tall order for Ciarrocca and the offensive coaches this season imo.
It will be tough but we are a developmental program and the coaches in place now are experts at that .

Well you say that but Deeon Sanders added 62 new players this year - or so I am told.
