With an accountant wife that is a stickler for documentation of donations, were we supposed to have already gotten that letter? I'm good about holding onto that kind of paperwork and I definitely didn't get it for our 4 seats. Thanks in advance.

I got my letter.

But can't you just use your credit card receipt, cancelled check, etc., as proof of your donation. If you need a letter, call the Rutgers University Foundation, and they'll send you another. http://www.scarletknights.com/development/contact.html

Per the IRS - Receipts must be contemporaneous.
Recipient organizations typically send written acknowledgments to donors no later than January 31 of the year following the donation. For the written acknowledgment to be considered contemporaneous with the contribution, a donor must receive the acknowledgment by the earlier of: the date on which the donor actually files his or her individual federal income tax return for the year of the contribution; or the due date (including extensions) of the return.

Thanks, guys, but I think I just realized something....the motivation to make the donations early by 12/31/14 to get priority points led me to do that and I used them on my 2014 return. That's why I didn't get a letter.
