Still sounds like he has a way to go, but looking good so far in practice.
"He's still protected in a green (limited contact) jersey, but we're trying to get him comfortable and test the limits of it," defensive line coach Shane Burnham said.
"He's been cleared for that, but we're just trying not to throw him back in there immediately. But I was just walking off the field talking to (running backs) Coach (Zak) Kuhr and he said, 'Hey man, he really gave us a great look today.'
"He's got fresh legs, of course, because he hasn't gone through the grind. But it sounds like he had a good day on scout rushing third-down situations, so that's good to hear."
"He played through (injuries) last year, which a lot of people don't know," Burnham said. "He played through a lot of pain and that's still in the back of his mind. So he's still getting comfortable, but he's doing a good job."
"I think he's a little bit cautious like most guys are," Burnham said of injury-recovered players. "He's still braced up and wears the harness like most guys do when they have the labrum tear. He gets more comfortable every day."
