For the university he supposedly loved, it sure appears he did not work very hard in any aspect of the coaching job. I don't want to hear how no one in the world would have taken the job after Rice. RU sports is paying the price for the 3 Stooges Era -- Hermann, Flood, Jordan. Going to take some time to dig out unfortunately. I said long time back EJ is a hustler. He used RU to catapult himself into an early retirement. Had no intention to do any real work required to elevate the program.
The important thing is we now have a coach but we need to be patient and give him some time. He inherited this roster and needs to assimilate his own players. You won't have to worry about effort anymore. It's hard to be patient when you're losing but I really feel we are in the right path.
I heard the same about Jordan from a coach at RU.. I don't think anybody will argue that point

Tough post. Eddie took the job at the time that many of us questioned if we could field a team with enough scholarship athletes. He took the job without an ad in place.
He deserved to get fired after year 3. But considering no scandals and he didn't leave the cupboard totally bare I wouldn't say he was a total disaster considering what he walked into.

My agenda isn't convincing people we had no talent on this football team either. That will be even more evident when not one of our players gets drafted. Ash teaches it. Our d3 players simply can't execute. Cioffi hiring an agent was just plain laughable. His coaching didn't stop Williams from having 11 tackles vs Ohio state and leading the team. Williams isn't even that good a prospect either..Just better than what flood was able to identify as "talent" (ha). He may not even start next year over some frosh coming in.

I don't give a shit who the best player was and what state he was from. We can win without the best player in the nation..Many schools do it. But there are plenty of solid NJ kids and solid shooters Eddie simply waved goodbye to without even introducing himself because he was lazy. Oh excuse me I didn't realize we had an alternative last offseason we could have brought in equivalent to Sanders (oh wait..We didn't because Eddie didn't recruit any guys who could shoot...That's right). You don't know what Bullock is or isn't because he is redshirting..That's how a redshirt works..He needed to lose weight and develop further. But he was a first team all state player and very much worth a flier considering the other guys still left looking for homes at the time..And he has us in the conversation for Reid.
Let me spell it out on you. Eddie missed on every player who came out of NJ and was at all productive over the last four years because he didn't recruit the state. So who DIDNT he miss out on? What don't you understand about this? How can a NJ recruit consider us if Eddie doesn't even frigging step foot in his school or even TRY to recruit him?? Can you seriously not understand that? Your opinion on redshirting is just that..An opinion. Many big-time schools redshirt players. Redshirts occur due to individual circumstances and they are not universally bad or good. If they were universally bad, big-time schools would not use them.

EJ is a low energy coach, but he did his best. Big difference between college and pros, and EJ belonged on an NBA bench as an assistant. But the guy is all class and represents us well. You guys climb on him because he didn't recruit the way you would like. But what quality players would come here after FHJ and Rice? Which decent coach would take the job after Mulcahy fired Gary Waters after three NIT appearances in five years? Sure, different administration now. Who was the AD when EJ was hired? Was it Julie Hermann?
