Embarrassing

This thread just reminded me I have to buy a brick from the Devils for championship plaza.

Is there a link to the bricks that works? The one earlier in the thread is a dead link.

Tried google but it turned up nothing.

I have two bricks from about 12 years ago or so..... at that time when you had a donation requirement for your seat the donation could be made by buying a brick..... so l figured why not buy the brick and satisfy the donation at the same time

then one year a rep called me up and said that a brick purchase would not be used towards a seat requirement...... it seems that it depended on what section you sat in, he said, and my seat was
near the 50

anyway, that was the last brick I bought..... if a good portion of the brick purchase was applied to a seat or parking lot requirement, I would resume purchases....

How much does a brick cost these days?
Southern Gentlemen how are Arkansas fans when it comes to donating to the school and athletic department? Does Arkansas struggle to raise funds like RUTGERS does? If you guys had a fund to build up your facilities to compete with the rest of the SEC would you guys be all in. We have 1800 individual donors to our 100 million dollar build fund. Thank god we got 25 million from a politician and ten from a hospital.

I have 1 brick (from years ago). I have given directly to B1G Build Fund (enough to buy many more bricks - but haven't asked or wanted to get more bricks).

The facilities at the University of Arkansas ARE first class and compete very well with any team from the SEC! We have indoor practice facilities for football, a practice facility for basketball, an indoor baseball field, an indoor softball facility for the women's teams, a top notch indoor track facility, etc.

The football stadium(Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium) is currently undergoing a major renovation of the North Endzone(The Broyles Center). The Broyles Center is being torn down and 4800 Club seats are being added along with standing room only areas.

The value of the athletic program is close to $100,000,000 and ranks around 10th in the nation fairly consistently. I guess that donors can buy "bricks" as a donation(that seems common as a fundraiser), but you also need to remember that every graduate of the university, has their named engraved in a sidewalk along with the rest of the graduating class from that year, somewhere on campus. Mine is in front of the library along with the rest of the class from 1979.

Out alumni giving sucks. No excuses. That said, the marketing and promotion of the bricks is non existent.

As I walked down the Scarlet walk on Saturday, I was once again amazed that, after all these years, we have not come close to filling that lane up with named bricks. With the level of participation on this board, our decent attendance figures, and our rising prestige as a B1G member, it is clear that many folks have both a rooting interest and pride in Rutgers. Yet, how can it be that so few folks are willing to pony up the relatively small amount required to show support for the program in such a visible way. If we can't fill the walkway, what chance do we have to garner the greater support needed for us to be mentioned in the same breath as the schools we want to be. The latest US New ratings have us, yet again, behind UCONN, Pitt, Clemson and Maryland, and way behind GA, FLA and PSU. The place we ALWAYS lag badly in is percentage and amount of alumni giving.

You have heard this from me before and get the point. if you are in a position to give and don't, in my opinion you have no right to complain about the product, since you aren't a stakeholder.

I've been saying this for years. Frankly, some of the most vocally negative characters on this board don't go to games and don't donate to the school or the program. In my opinion, they don't get a vote.

There are plenty of people in my tailgating group that donate above the level for a brick. They just don't feel like doing it.

I bought one last year but couldn't think of anything to say for the X brick I bought.

Rutgers does a terrible job in promoting this. N it should be everywhere. It should be sent out in the season renewal emails. It should be sent out with every scarlet R donation letter. It should be sent out to all donors separately as well.

When was the last time the school tried to sell bricks? I mean actively tried. Why not set up a table right next to the scarlet walk?

You can lay your own brick?

Better be careful about handing them out though. The way the offense looked this year, they would be raining down on the field

I figured they'd have to use Roman Numerals for when you graduated. LOL. Something like CXII? LOL

Keep Pikiell and the hoops team far away from the brick issue. We don't want bricks associated with hoops. :basketball:

Now that we have adults running the fundraising, they probably realized former staffs were giving these away for relative peanuts. If getting your name on the Hale Center wall costs $10,000, having your name on a public space should be more than the donation needed for Purple Lot. It's not like the bricks are bringing any new donors into the fold anyway, it's the same people year after year asking for the brick.

The bottom line is that our alumni just don't have the same affinity for Rutgers Football that PSU fans have for PSU football or OSU fans have for OSU football. There are a great number of supporters but we need more of them. ive got a few bricks but need to get more.

As we improve, it'll be easier to solicit funds from alumni. I agree with OP.
Al, your brick and mine are about four feet apart. When I got mine I was sure I had gotten in just ahead of the rush, since the following year I was sure we were going to the B1G. I was right about the B1G, but wrong about the rush. I don't think another brick has been purchased in that section. To those who haven't gotten one, it is a lot of fun, and satisfying, seeing your brick before every home game.

you have a valid point, but I think our terrible support is linked to our poor athletic results.... fans are much more likely to give when they are proud of the on field/court results

or at least the anticipation of good results
