First Suspensions Handed Down by MSU.

If it happens great but they still have some players and unless our offense improves during the next several weeks I would not go by any Steve “ Known to Deceive” Politi. We still show a propensity to commit turnovers and penalties at inopportune times of the game. Only then can we consider a possible win in a 10-7 barnburnrer.

They are not going to serve jail time..PTI for all even the player charged with a felony. Community service and maybe a small fine. The felony will be plead down to a misdemeanor as well to 6 months probation , community service and paying the assaulted players medical bills.Suspension until Spring.

A bit of news trickled in on Christmas Eve, when certainly no one would be paying attention.

The MSU player with the most serious felony assault charges has accepted a plea deal to reduce the charges to misdemeanors. Per the article, “Once he completes his probation under the Holmes Youthful Trainee Act, all charges will be dismissed and wiped from his record.”

Pretty sad that after all these years in the B1G we have fans rooting for suspensions so that we have a chance, and just a chance, to be competitive with the likes of Michigan State, not UM, OSU, or PSU, but MSU.

If you can't beat them, hope they are shorthanded.

The players aren't paying for anyone's medical bills. MSU might though.

Do they retain their scholarships at MSU? If they do this whole thing is meaningless and a sham.
The link says all but Crump (the one who just pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge) have been reinstated. My bet is that the same will happen with Crump. I don't agree that makes this a sham. Almost everyone is frightened out of their wits just by having to face criminal charges, so it's a good lesson to the players not to do this kind of thing again.

Have any of these kids expressed any remorse for their actions? I'm sure that they will in front of the judge but that's just a legal maneuver for leniency.
So in Michigan now you can have a gang type assault and not have to worry about jail time. This is a stain on the MSU program if they're allowed to stay. IMHO

It's always hard to know that whether remorse is genuine, but Crump did write to the kid he assaulted to apologize.

I think it's very unlikely *anywhere* that there would be jail time for an assault of this kind unless a deadly weapon was used or the victim was very badly injured -- neither of which is true here.
