- Corey was in a funk tonight. Too many turnovers.
- Thiam bad night but he needs to keep on shooting, faking and driving to the basket
- Freeman does not play within himself
- Neb a very athletic team
- Bullock, Mensah and Dadika not BIG level b-ball players
- Thiam, Omiyouri, Doucure and Baker are the core of next year’s team (Corey as well of course if he returns)

Just like the home game against MSU if RU hits a few more shots and couple less turnovers RU pulls out a tough game. Back to the drawing board.

I agree with your points. So close...

I must say though, we all know Mensah has no offense, but he had Watson on lockdown. You almost wonder whether that is one of the only instances where having him works a little. For once, he was actually taller than his opponent along with being able to keep up and hound him. If that was possible every game and you cancel out a talented small, agile guard with Souf, where it almost turns out to be a 4 v 4 game, maybe you’d take that in some instances.

It's the same old story. Great defense, rebounding, hustle, and heart, but just not enough skill on the offensive end to win many games against good teams. Shooting is subpar and ability to beat people off the dribble is mostly not there and we end up with way too many possessions where it's in Corey's hands with under 10 seconds left in the shot clock and he's forced to drive inside and make a difficult shot or throw up a prayer of a jumper, as nobody else is really open. Kills me to watch this team give 110% and not be rewarded for it.

I could put the same game observation for almost every game: they play their butts off, and they can't hit the broad side of a barn.
but if they played better d and rebounded in the end, and didn't get careless with the ball, or force the drive to the right and foul...could have won. So it is not all shooting (although having a team shoot even 40% and the rest doesn't matter)[sick]

This game was just another indication of the limitations on coaching a team that lacks shooters. It didn't matter what five players were on the court because there wasn't one go to scorer from the beginning to the end of the game. The passing and dribbling were poor and the shooting was abysmal. If Rutgers had even a small pulse on offense, they could have won the game.

its groundhog day again...and we have seen this before under Rice and last year under Pike, the team will generally end playing the same kind of game against most conference coming close and losing

At times, we were our own worst enemy with turnovers and not getting critical rebounds. When you are so offensively challenged those things get magnified.

This is the fifth game out of nine B1G contests where Rutgers failed to score at least 60 points and they lost every one of those games. There are no quick fixes on a roster devoid of shooters/scorers.

I agree with almost everything except Freeman. I thought Freeman played within himself pretty much the whole game and I've been critical of him this season. Yes, there were a few moments you scratch your head with him, but tonight I thought he was okay. But like you adroitly pointed out, both Corey and Thiam were really off tonight and that hurt us down the stretch. If we had gotten even a hint of they way they played against Iowa tonight, we win this game by 6+ instead of losing by 6.

True. But, I'll say this - at least Bullock is not afraid to shoot. When either Dadika and Souf are in it's like playing 4 on 5 on offense. They refuse to take an open shot so the defense just sags on the other players.
