Football GAMEDAY THREAD: Rutgers Football versus UCLA

Mike Higgins and Logan Blake are the next kids up. Thankfully they’ve been with the program a while. After that, it’s walkons and true freshmen.

Just bring in an extra lineman or go 4 wide. Higgins and Blake would be a negative over any other combo.

Breaking: Rutgers tight ends Kenny Fletcher and Victor Konopka are out for the remainder of the 2024 season.

They are the third and fourth Scarlet Knights to suffer a season-ending injuries, following running back Samuel Brown, left guard Bryan Felter and linebacker Mohamed Toure:

So the good news is Lewis, Powell, Longerbeam, Rogers, and Dixon aren’t out the rest of the season.

Sorry for the injuries but I think we were too much in love with Fletcher and I hope this results in more downfield throws. But, frankly, I think we need to give Ajani a shot and hope he got a lot of time with our 1s (and really it is 1s and 2s now, isn't it) so if AK struggles with accuracy we can make the change early.

Probably going to really struggle running the ball today. AK is going to have to have a day today for us to win.

We know that ucla will probably sell out to stop the run, so yes, it will probably be tough.

..and this is why those videos from gambler sites are saying UCLA and the over are getting hammered.. hope we rally and punish them.

I didn't feel good about Powell as soon as we got the news about his torn Achilles. It was said that he wouldn't miss any time but that's a major injury. Id like him to to rehab and focus on his NFL future... hopefully he can get back out there towards the end of the season and show that he's back to 100%...it was obvious he's not himself this year..

I had the same thoughts. He was very limited.

we keep concentrating on our injuries. Don’t forget UCLA is decimated by injuries too. Going to be a battle of the best depth charts

Is you-know-who complaining about the refs yet?
Speaking of bad refs.. anyone notice Saban on College Game Day diagram a pass play were the center was 5 yards downfield blocking an LB, that is not legal on screens never mind passes that go over the LOS. But no comment from Saban or Kirk on the obvious, uncalled, infraction.

refs suck.

First, I am truly surprised that we are favored. Have to think it is based on overall records (which can be deceiving) , home field after UCLA had to travel across the country or something I have missed.
They are not as bad as their record looks as is pointed out by many in previous posts. We are absolutely beaten up. Last two games on offense have been dismal and no D to speak of in the last game. Play calling is terrible and very predictable.
Like it or not, this game may well decide which team is REALLY the worst in the league. Purdue moved up, I think, with some better play against the leagues top teams. I don't think we would beat them at this point.
Time for some totally different looks by us. We can't win with what we have shown lately and with so many bench players now starting.

UCLA DLINE is good.. big and tough.. we better run off tackle and slants and drag routes to keep them off balance. Will also need a good game from Benjamin. Fingers crossed

Let's see how they come out today after last weekend's disaster. They really need to come out with some fire and set the tone: march down the field and score on offense or force a three and out and then score.
