It eliminated any chance for Temple whatsoever. No kickoff run back for a TD. No recovered onside kick. Why smart? Touchdown and extra point puts RU up by 9. I guess could miss extra point and Temple could score quickly with 2 point conversion to tie but I guess could also screw up taking a knee and allowing Temple one last chance. Interesting choice
Gavin is 18. I'm willing to give him another year or two. But at this point I'd rather Langan than anyone else. What a messWe literally may have the 3 worst QBs in D1 football.
i think he was hurt on his last run--he was slow to get upDoes anyone know what happened to Gavin?
You are never going to beat another team this year if you cannot have some basic sort of a passing game. The big boys are going to line up. This o line isn't pushing anyone down the field starting next week unless you can get the ball over and behind them a bit.I just think my expectations of this team are much more realistic than a lot on this board.
Have you seen Willie Tyler pass block? He gets destroyed every time.
Run run run run and play defense is what this team is going to do this year. Expecting anything else from this team is bananas
Don't know why so many assumed without a doubt that both were better than Noah.
Now that said, also keep in mind that this was Temple's Super Bowl. They were pumped for this game and wanted to make a statement. RU should have executed better and snuffed out that fire early but didn't.
You risk losing the game.I don't know how you don't take the points at the end. So you give Temple the ball back with less than a minute left. They'd be down by 9 with no timeouts.
Not if we miss the XP. That was the right play there.
What if you miss the extra point? Heads up by Johnny.I don't know how you don't take the points at the end. So you give Temple the ball back with less than a minute left. They'd be down by 9 with no timeouts.
It’s very annoying that Syracuse is playing as well as they are. It's been a poor day for a lot of B1G teams thus far:
-Indiana needed OT to beat Western Kentucy.
-Purdue played sloppy and lost a very winnable game to Sewercuse.
-Northwestern lost to Southern Illinois
-Nebraska got its clocked cleaned by Oklahoma.
Langan saved the day, but he needs to score there. I hope the coaching staff didn’t tell him not to…
They are one of the 10 worst according to The AthleticTemple is not that bad a team, not sure why people thought that.
Kicker misses XP and it's an 8 point game. I wanted him to score but he was smarter than me. dude gets it. He should run the team.It eliminated any chance for Temple whatsoever. No kickoff run back for a TD. No recovered onside kick.
Not if our kicker misses the extra point….
I hear you...maybe if there's more time on the clock where they could get the ball back with like a 1:30 ish left. I'd take it in there with a likely PAT to go up 2 scores---8 pt lead worst case scenario with around 15 seconds or so on the clock.I don’t know if anyone is trusting the XP right now
Taking a knee gives you 99.99% chance of winning. Scoring there and kicking off gives you a 98.98%. Take the knee and go home. Don’t allow for some crazy kick return then onside kick.Disagree with announcers. Get in the endzone there and go up 2 scores
IMO there's very roughly a 1 in 10,000 chance of losing if Langan scores there and about a 1 in 1,000,000 chance of losing if Langan goes down like he did. Having said that, I wanted the TD, lol.I don't know how you don't take the points at the end. So you give Temple the ball back with less than a minute left. They'd be down by 9 with no timeouts.
I guess you can say misery loves company. Driving home now and the whole car is wondering WTF was that? We’re collectively cringing at the possibilities for next Saturday night. It's been a poor day for a lot of B1G teams thus far:

-Purdue played sloppy and lost a very winnable game to Sewercuse.

They also dropped two INTs and had several killer penalties. This offense is inept. If it weren't for the defense we lose this game.
I don't think that's it. I think we instill such anxiety in our QBs about turning it over that mentally, they cannot just play.We literally may have the 3 worst QBs in D1 football.
I don’t think RU is as bad as they looked today. Nor as good as they looked last week. I don’t think we know where we’re at yet. The good news is the team will know how hard they need to work for next week’s win now. The super easy success last week might’ve caused them to be overconfident. You are never going to beat another team this year if you cannot have some basic sort of a passing game. The big boys are going to line up. This o line isn't pushing anyone down the field starting next week unless you can get the ball over and behind them a bit.
This was supposed to be a run pass spread offense and what we have is non of it. You can be conservative throwing to backs and tight ends and short crosses. Year 1, 2, or 3 doesn't matter. That's simple football.
WHAT???????So then they get the ball down by 8 with 50 seconds left and no timeouts.
I understand the math. I just think it's a girly decision. Play to score. Score to win.
I don't think anyone needs to tell him, it was smart that he end of the game right thereLangan saved the day, but he needs to score there. I hope the coaching staff didn’t tell him not to…
100% chance assuming we make the PAT. I understand the taking the knee decision though.Taking a knee gives you 99.99% chance of winning. Scoring there and kicking off gives you a 98.98%. Take the knee and go home. Don’t allow for some crazy kick return then onside kick.
Don't be shocked in Noah makes a sudden improvement and is dressed.I guess you can say misery loves company. Driving home now and the whole car is wondering WTF was that? We’re collectively cringing at the possibilities for next Saturday night.
What if you miss the PAT?I don't know how you don't take the points at the end. So you give Temple the ball back with less than a minute left. They'd be down by 9 with no timeouts.
I was hoping Fran “I’m the greatest recruiter ever” Brown was a weak DB coach and the cause of our d-backfield woes but we still appear to be soft against any QB competence.
Thanks for reinforcing why it was a smart play. Why smart? Touchdown and extra point puts RU up by 9. I guess could miss extra point and Temple could score quickly with 2 point conversion to tie but I guess could also screw up taking a knee and allowing Temple one last chance. Interesting choice
Was the smartest thing to do.I don't think anyone needs to tell him, it was smart that he end of the game right there
Screw the math? 😀So then they get the ball down by 8 with 50 seconds left and no timeouts.
I understand the math. I just think it's a girly decision. Play to score. Score to win.
