Gameday Traditions you miss/want to see dropped/would like to see

Th
Wait, the band stopped playing Loyal Sons? When did this happen? The day I come back for a Rutgers game, if I stay for Loyal Sons, I will probably cry my eyes out. No joke, that is how much it means to me.
As of last season, They still play it as part of their post game show. You just have to say around longer as it takes longer for them to get set up on the field from the seats.

Whenever we score a touchdown, they need to ditch the cannon firing and play all 2:28 of this. Put the game on hold before the song finishes.

Yes it wpuld also be nice to have an intro that intimidates the other team (stepping on the Louiisville cardinal; at midfield excluded). The "team has left the lockerroom" does that to an extent. However, the stadium has to be filled pregame for thatv to work!

Frankly I have a pregame bathroom ritual I cal the "A**Saturday". I leave the tailgate 45-60 minutes pregame, walk to the stadium, walk to my favorite bathroom and stall-and eliminate whatever great tailgate food the body can't absorb so I can move freely, cheer for the boys and harass opposing players and fans. I get to my seat 15-30 minutes pregame and watch warmups. Getting old stinks!

Change the third down music. Just play the bells and cut the guitar follow-up.

Students (and many others) currently play an air guitar and stare stone-faced at the field for the first 10 seconds. I can't believe I still have to write this... strumming an imaginary guitar and then swinging your hand in the air without making contact with anything adds ZERO crowd noise. Staring angrily at the opposing team while your mouth is closed doesn't add anything.

The speakers are obviously loud, but if you listen closely, the crowd is actually much quieter for the initial part of the third down music. Because the student section isn't clapping or yelling.

This is more important now than ever with modern offenses getting to the line and running plays quicker. Opposing teams are often hiking the ball before the student section has made any noise.

I obviously sit in 117 and I focused on this for a few plays last year , it is a VERY noticeable difference in crowd noise once the air guitars stop and the students focus on screaming !!!!!

I want the real Alma Mater
I want the real Alma Mater
and I want the real Alma Mater

(and yes, I know there were some minor changes over time
but this new p c version is putrid. I haven't done a big survey but the females I know
sing the old version....some of them are under thirty years old so it is not
just us old folks )

Uh,

Why not? Killer high energy song which pumps up the crowd. When Va Tech does it the whole crowd including the band jumps up and down to it.

Yeah, that's a bad idea.

Because it is associated with VT and their entrance. Great song, great entrance, already taken. Some things shouldn't be copied, especially when you have no chance of coming off as anything other than a second rate copy.

Bring back spelling out the script Rutgers by the band for the pre-game show and play the alma mater then like we used to. Also, bring back the real Scarlet Fanfare. Like the idea of the glee club being integrated more then just at homecoming.

I've made this suggestion before, but running this clip (go to 1:30-2:52 below) from the movie Excalibur would be a great way to blend the Scarlet Knights with the team coming out of the tunnel. Just add cannon fire at the conclusion of the clip:

Wow that is perfect--a bunch of knights heading out for a battle, huge red flag, intense music...I can't imagine it gets any better for a Scarlet Knights entrance video. The cannon going off as the video ends and the team takes the field would be a great way to end it too.

A cannon at every corner of the field!
Get a bigger cannon!

Teams should enter field from the south endzone large openings instead of the shared little current tunnel. Im sure they could link them

"O Fortuna" / Carl Orff. Just need to time it right. Cannon fire at the end, and a segue in to "Bells" once the team is on the field. This also ties into something else I've long wanted to see -- a more "Excalibur" style "Scarlet Knight." Polished chrome armor and chain mail. No helmet. Scarlet sash for the knight. Bearded knight.

How about something more recent...

Imagine the stadium goes silent. Then you hear the horns. Then one player gets the honor to be the standard bearer and is in front of the others and leads the Scarlet Knights to battle just like how the Knights of the Vale came is and kicked ass.

I initially disliked the air-guitar stuff for similar reasons stated above regarding reduced crowd noise. The visual, however, is really neat and it is something that is "ours." I'm not completely married to the idea, but it is a cool visual.

For those wanting only traditions steeped in some sort of folklore......all of the traditions nationwide started arbitrarily somehow. If you want to wait for traditions to magically occur, we will be 90 years old waiting for a gameday tradition to evolve.

I would like to see trophy games with PSU and Maryland.

Eh the scene from Excalibur is way better in my opinion. The music is better and the knights are carrying a big red flag instead of a blue one.

I actually don't want video to be "tradition". I want to hear a real horn, and I want to see a real football player holds a standard that represents the scarlet knights

I agree. Don't like this slow motion Pete Townsend look. What would happen if we doubled the speed of the music. Wouldn't that force clapping instead of air guitar. We need clapping and hooting and hollering during third down music. Just say NO to slow motion air guitar!!

Definitely Glee Club for National Anthem and Alma.
I still like the horse video even though it goes from day to night when the horse enters the stadium during night games
I get chills down my spine when the glee club sings the national anthem. Should be done for every home game. It will allow the band to learn something new.

Well the game day experience is really different from game day traditions.

And on that note, I would like to see the band go back to playing Loyal Sons at the end of the game.
And.........bring the tempo down to where it was in the 60's and 70's. Loyal Sons is so beautiful at a slow tempo.
