Georgia FB Pays 5* $1.8 million

Perhaps Georgia should build a big stadium, charge hefty prices for people to get in, big charges for parking and concesssions, and maybe a large tv contract. Then they could afford to pay their players.

Oh no. Not another one of these threads where fans complain and say they don’t care . But they really do care . That’s the sham . If you didn’t care, you wouldn’t be here

Well of course people writing here care. For now.... As unlikely as it seems, there is still a hope of some success or even competitiveness for our team now. But if teams are starting to pay $1-2 million dollars for the top players (and then lesser sums down the line), the schools with less money/donors/big boosters (like Rutgers) will truly have no chance - real or perceived. And that will lead to truly not caring and moving on to something else to do with your time...

If the disparity starts regrowing in college football, The top schools may decide it's not worth it to have the little schools around anymore, split the pay outs with them for little benefit and break into a super conference or an entirely different football legal together.

You'd have to have at a minimum the P5 teams agree to that. Any less and the TV money would drop for lack of content. Bowl money would be cut even with the entire P5. And you're going to have about 1/3 of the P5 schools not having the money to keep pace.

There was only one way that NIL could have worked. And that would have been to put all the revenue generated by gaming, TV, merchandise into a pot, split a certain % off of that number and distribute evenly to all Scholarship players.

Great for the kid. Hope he had a lawyer review it to make sure there are no outs. This has zero impact on RU. The hope is they spend all their money fighting for these 5 stars so we can get 3&4 stars in the cheap.

How are these businesses/boosters making any money in these investments? NIL is a total scam for just pay to play. That is not what it was intended for. I like the pot of money pooled to distribute evenly across teams as that benefits everyone. I get the fact that certain players deserve more $$ like the stars in the NFL but this is college.
I’m completely losing interest and I’m not just saying that bc we root for a poorly booster funded university. If I were rooting for Georgia I would feel the same way full well knowing paying under the table has gone in for years. Now that it’s in the open environment it’s visually disgusting.

You mean the Supreme Court made a poor decision ??? You don’t say !

Maybe not this recruit, but you can have a ripple effect by other programs that lost out.
Maybe OSU tries to lure a running back into the portal instead now if they really want to add one .
Or offers late a high school player we may have had a shot with
Or
OSU takes a Cincinnati recruit let’s say, then that program looks at one of ours etc
May not be a straight line on all of this but a ripple effect is possible

It’s called the NFL.

If we hold a bake sale we can get a punter.

"No way this kid is worth that much money." Not sure that's the point here.

Lol - the 2 of you have posted about 15 times today on this CFB message board.

Seems like there's still some interest there....
Don’t waste your time with them @RUScrew85 and @Caliknight are full of it. They care . Always will. They are the little boys crying wolf . One of them said they will only be into it because their wife likes it!! Lol but will probably will be at the RAC this weekend .
My wife likes getting her nails and hair done. But I don’t involve that stuff in my social calendar

College stadiums should include team’s NIL figures on the scoreboard.

Like this?
Easier and more impactful to show media revenue though

Rutgers 16pts ($31m)
Temple 13pts ($7m)

Rutgers 22pts ($31m)
BC 21pts ($17m)

Not exactly the impact I think you’re looking for though.
Doesn’t really make our wins look too good.

In other news Georgia beats out OSU for a 5 star player. Who cares if it’s money or talent or whatever. A 5 star kid is going to a top 5 school regardless.

Never happen.
NCAA and member schools have zero interest in sharing.

That’s why NCAA Football ended. Once they had to share revenue, they took their ball and went home (ended their licensing deal).

College sports is basically toast. Its a sham and a bad joke. Losing interest...
I will add and *asterisk* to this sentiment and say that Texas and A&M spent a lot... and they don't look like they got what they paid for. There's a small chance that the players that follow the money are not as valuable as those that don't... at least to some degree.

I.. and WE.. already root for a perennial underdog.. that small chance that we may remain competitive enough... I will hold onto that as long as I can.

You could have a lot less than that. The NFL has 32 teams and people seem to care. You could have the Big Ten and SEC merge and drop a few schools (uh oh, Rutgers) and you'd have the "Professional College Football" League.
