Georgia FB Pays 5* $1.8 million

I will add and *asterisk* to this sentiment and say that Texas and A&M spent a lot... and they don't look like they got what they paid for. There's a small chance that the players that follow the money are not as valuable as those that don't... at least to some degree.

I.. and WE.. already root for a perennial underdog.. that small chance that we may remain competitive enough... I will hold onto that as long as I can.
The real issue here is why is there are sports league with such dim prospects for so many teams? It's what happens when you let teams write the rules. Surprise! They tilt everything in their favor.

If the disparity starts regrowing in college football, The top schools may decide it's not worth it to have the little schools around anymore, split the pay outs with them for little benefit and break into a super conference or an entirely different football legal together.

They can apply to merge with the NFL.

Don’t waste your time with them @RUScrew85 and @Caliknight are full of it. They care . Always will. They are the little boys crying wolf . One of them said they will only be into it because their wife likes it!! Lol but will probably will be at the RAC this weekend .
My wife likes getting her nails and hair done. But I don’t involve that stuff in my social calendar
Hey man, don’t knock a pedicure! I’ll go with my wife occasionally and they’re actually pretty great

Oh no. Not another one of these threads where fans complain and say they don’t care . But they really do care . That’s the sham . If you didn’t care, you wouldn’t be here
What fans care about is Rutgers, either because we attended or developed personal interests in the university. That's why we are here (well most of us, except for the trolls). What many don't care about is having to buy AMATEUR!!! athletes to play for the team. That will drive away a good portion of Rutgers fans. Who are you going to replace them with? The throngs of people lining up to donate to the NIL initiative?? How's that working out so far? Rutgers football is sitting directly on the fulcrum of the teeter totter at this point I believe.

So when is it actually going to drive them
Away ? I have heard empty threats

An argument could easily be made that donations to the Rutgers AD is also a terrible investment.

How are these businesses/boosters making any money in these investments? NIL is a total scam for just pay to play. That is not what it was intended for. I like the pot of money pooled to distribute evenly across teams as that benefits everyone. I get the fact that certain players deserve more $$ like the stars in the NFL but this is college.
I’m completely losing interest and I’m not just saying that bc we root for a poorly booster funded university. If I were rooting for Georgia I would feel the same way full well knowing paying under the table has gone in for years. Now that it’s in the open environment it’s visually disgusting.
Maybe we could get Ken Feinberg to be the distributor. He has plenty of experience.

Oh, come on now. If ppl lose interest in RU football there will be a huge hole in their lives. Whatever will they find to complain about?
Most of us live in New Jersey. We'll find something quick.

Let me put it this way, after they win the natty this year I promise you their fans will disagree with your assessment.
There's no guarantee this particular 5 star plays like a 5 star or doesn't get hurt etc. That's an awful lot of money to throw at a kid who is currently in high school. But whatever. If Georgia is willing to take on that risk and have the resources then yeah more power to them.

There was only one way that NIL could have worked. And that would have been to put all the revenue generated by gaming, TV, merchandise into a pot, split a certain % off of that number and distribute evenly to all Scholarship players.
This is the logical solution, but greed will prevent it from ever happening. The NCAA should have done this a long time ago.
