Give EJ another year

The reason they might feel that way is because Danny didn't come before and the reason he didn't probably hasn't changed.
Nothing to do with his coaching ability, but what RU is willing to do .
Maybe so. But Hobbs gives us a chance. We will be ok regardless.

Jersey, you think Williams, for example, would not hear the transfer siren songs if EJ were to stay? The guys knew they were playing against 7 guys, including walkons, and Minnesota's best player had a real off night. Good game to go out on, but we heard this every year from the Fred Hill Jr loyalists: One more year, to let X and Y develop. You were not one of those guys, were you? Love EJ for his basketball ability and the way he represents our school, but he should be back in the NBA. He has shown us that he is not suited to head a power conference program, but I will always admire and respect him.

I was one of those guys "every year from the Fred Hill Jr loyalists: One more year, to let X and Y develop." and added my excuse of let Freddie gain more HCing experience and you'll see what he can do !
Got to admit I was wrong there and knowing I was is a big reason I ceased being a Jordan loyalist towards the end of this season.
Hated to bail on him, but the health and future of the RU MBB program must come ahead of even a favorite son like Eddie.

Jordan gets my full respect as a person and player, but as the RU HC he only deserves respect for trying , but not support because of what he accomplished.

I doubt Williams or any of the main contributors would leave if Eddie remained. Eddie was a NBA player, NBA coach, and a Rutgers great. He wants to save his Alma mater and I bet his players respect him

They don't play for him, though.

Its not that they dont play for him. Its more that Freshman & Sophomore tend to get out muscled and make mental mistakes regularly. It's the reason they don't play much unless they are an advanced talent. Their still immature for the most part. When they become upper classmen theirs attitudes and mind sets change. It's 20 & 21 year olds who gets the rebound and makes smart decisions

Foreman's old for a sophomore. He's at least 20.

Diallo redshirted so hes really a sophomore. He must be 20

Also Seton Hall isn't struggling with freshman and sophomores.

This is considerably less of a problem in programs where players get actual coaching.

Didn't Seton Hall have one of the best recruiting classes in the country 2 years ago?

Didn't Seton Hall have one of the best recruiting classes in the country 2 years ago?

5 of Seton Hall's top 6 scorers are sophomores. All but one of their players that score more than 0.6 points per game are sophomores or freshmen. They had the 13th best recruiting class in 2014... one 5 * (Whitehead), one 4* (Delgado), and three 3* (Carrington, Rodriguez, Sanogo). They followed it last year with two 3* and a NR, and this coming year with a 4* (Powell).

What upperclass team?

You mean Etou? Or Ryan Johnson?

Next year, the recruits EJ has brought in as freshmen will be:
Sr: None
Jr: Foreman, Williams
RS So: Doorson, Diallo
So: Laurent, Sanders, Goode
Fr: Tripp, Dailey, Thiam

So... two upper classmen? Padded with a transfer and Juco?
My post said in two years, not next year.

Wow you want two more years of Eddie wow just wow
Bac, I get that you don't want Eddie since you've said it in every post you've written for the past year. Give it a break. I am fine with Eddie returning, ALL THINGS CONSIDERED. Remember that words have meaning, and the last three actually have broader implications than your mere parroting of yourself.

So to make it simple for you, I will put it another way. There is a big difference between the following questions: 1) Is Eddie a good college basketball coach? and 2) Is Rutgers in a position to make a change and will we benefit from making one?

You consistently parrot yourself because you are stuck on the first question. I consider both questions and their implications. So, ALL THINGS CONSIDERED, I am fine with Eddie returning.

Yucchh

Nightmare is almost over.

It's clear as day when AD Hobbs refuses to comment to even the most loyal fans in the court club...and EJ refused to answer any future question, He's gone. Hobbs is a basketball guy and wants to write his own legacy... New basketball and new football coach

100%. Anybody who thinks that Hobbs had to meet a big donor instead of spending 30 minutes at the court club is naive. He will have plenty to say soon.

As a long-time EJ fan and proponent of this hiring I gotta say:

"let him go, let him go...."

Wouldn't surprise me. We always F' it up. Not even gonna give the guy time to coach his players as upper classmen. Rutgers is a Mid Major level Bball program. That means we have to win with upperclassmen. It will never happen if we keep firing the coach every 3 years

Maybe we wouldn't fire the coach every three years if they didn't hurl basketballs at players heads and/or lose 100 games and/or make Josh Sankes get naked for missing free throws.

"We" don't keep firing the coach. "We" keep having coaches that require firing.

bingo...we keep hiring the wrong coaches, yet I see posters to bring up the 3-4 year cycle or coaching carousal as if we need to keep a coach who is failing just to say "see we are giving him more time"...why do that if you know you have the wrong guy..you fire him

this is the first time we are positioned to invest in hoops because we have to. Hobbs is going to get this right, he has to

Eddie deserves to be able to coach the team he recruited. Its absolutely idiotic to waste the $2 million dollar buyout, especially since we started with nothing. There were a lot of injuries this year, and if it was a guard and a forward or 2, then I can understand the complaining, but it was all of our size.

Idiots are complaining about rebounding all season when we had 6'2" players guarding 6'8" guys. It's mind boggling to me how stupid 80% of our fan base is.

So for all the morons who want to waste more money buying out a coach, blow up the team AGAIN, I have nothing to say to you.

Giving Eddie one more year with a full roster isn't going to hurt the program, it makes sense. Plus, you know we are going to hire some green coach with no credentials for half the price, and mark my words, in the event that he has a sniff of success, he will be out the door onto bigger and better things and leaving the dregs of Rutgers.

Eddie Jordan is the only coach in it for us. Good luck having this conversation again 3 years from now.

Oh and by the way, Ash is going to have the same problem. Flood left the cupboard empty in football, so get the pitchforks and torches ready.

I want a job were I'm a manager of a department, where I can really, really, really suck, get paid 7 figures, have no signs there's hope for the future and still have some people hoping I stick around.

Do you also want a job where somebody gives you a spoon and asks you to storm Normandy beach? That's the job Eddie undertook when he came here to rebuild this thing from a smoking pile of shit.

Really? It couldn't possibly have been a combination things??

If he fires Jordan, then he had no interest in chatting about the future with the court club two weeks ago. He blew that meeting off on purpose.

Uhm, he's been here for 3 months. One of the worst 3 months in RU hoops history. REALLY???
You can't give buyouts if you don't have the money. If he feels like he is ahead of schedule on the fund raiser, it's more likely he'll buyout EJ.

the same thing was said about firing Flood...where is the money...and not only did they have the money, they had enough to pay off Julie to go away too.

Hobbs was hired exactly to handle situations like this
