really and we didn't look like idiots hiring a failed OL coach and didn't recruit or wasn't a good coach but yet was defended to the hilt by some including you shouting many people down. You didn't seem to have a problem with Flood getting 2 stars. I don't want get into an argument but all I am asking you is for consistency in how you analyze a coach.
Absolutely agree. He had one decent season in five years with the Canes.Different time place and circumstance. I'm willing to take a chance on a coordinator more then I would be with Golden.
I was hoping and praying that when BOB left PSU that they'd get Golden, that's how lowly I think of him.
Unlike Schiano, Golden apparently wants the job. That's a plus in my book. GS can sit on his butt in FL and continue to cash Glazer's checks for all I care.
If this message board is an indicator of the overall fans, Golden certainly won't have a unified fan base behind him on day one on the job. Heck - we could hire any realistic candidate and that would be the case, I know, but Golden seems more polarizing than most.
Remember when Al scored four TDs for Polk High in the city championships? That was great.Of course he wants the job.
HE'S UNEMPLOYED!!!!!!!!!!
I'd rather hire Al Bundy!
If it's only Golden left, let's just function without a coach for a year until someone real steps up. We've been doing that anyway.
This from the all-knowing maven OP. I like his sense of humor.... or was he really serious!!!He's the best among the most realistic candidates out there . Mullen and tressel aren't coming . Program is too fragile to hire a coordinator guy . Golden is a jersey guy and he can do a good job here .
Just stop!If Golden was my only option, I'd rather we pull an Illinois and take the interim tag off of Norries Wilson and give him a 2-year deal.
If Golden is the choice his employment application should include some special questions.
1. An essay question on "Explain the how the moral failings of Joe Paterno, abetted by a cult-like fan base, allowed a once great program to be a haven for a predator. (Personal recollections earn extra points.)"
2. The number of players in the skill groups I coached while at PSU that had to pick up litter around Nittany Stadium for infractions that would merited an arrest in the real world was:
A) Less than 5 B) 5-10 C) 10-20 D) More than 20
His contract should include a clause that says he must publicly burn all PSU logo memorabilia. (He can keep the diploma.)
But seriously I am much more concerned about the amount of NFL talent on his Miami squads that he could not rally to more winning.
Once again, if you hire Al Golden, you get what you pay for... Then there'll be another argument on who will be the next Rutgers coach three years from now.
I think RU is better than it will get for Golden. At least I hope so.Has anyone ever thought that Rutgers is as good as it gets for Golden?
OMG No!!!! Way!!!!!If Golden was my only option, I'd rather we pull an Illinois and take the interim tag off of Norries Wilson and give him a 2-year deal.
Why should Rutgers settle for Golden if they can get someone better? Because he's from Jersey? Hell KC Keeler and Rick Giancola are Jersey guys but no one would choose either.Has anyone ever thought that Rutgers is as good as it gets for Golden?
I hate to sound like a broken record but OH MY GOD DID ANYBODY WHO WANTS AL GOLDEN TO BE OUR HEAD COACH WATCH MIAMI PLAY FOOTBALL THIS YEAR?
There's always one guy who can screw up a good argument.I watched him coach in the playoffs last year. He's a heck of a football coach. Three conference championships in 4 years, 4 playoff appearances, 41-13 record in 4 years. Yeah, why would we want a proven winner? Clearly the guy who got blown out by Clemson and Fired is a much better choice. SMH...
golden will lead us to great heights of 9-10 wins in the BIG
All you've preached on this board the last 3 years is that all that matters is W-L and you don't give a rats ass as to how that is accomplished. And then you hold up Al Golden as your choice (lifetime 59-59, 0-3 in bowls).,, which proves that you are full of sh*t or you don't know what you are talking about- probably both.Just shut up and go away.golden will lead us to great heights of 9-10 wins in the BIG
Pesky facts seem to always be getting in the way of a good grandstanding....There's always one guy who can screw up a good argument.

Yes all that matters is wins and losses. I said golden is as good As it gets for Rutgers . Because we aren't hiring nick Saban .
Butch or tressel would be great too , but Rutgers is more likely in the market for a golden type of coach. You don't know what you're talking about.

Find me 1 Miami fan sad to see him go.
Just 1!
For goodness sake, even Flood had people sad to see him go!!
