Basketball Harper's triple-double, late surge leads Rutgers Basketball over Columbia

The dynamic duo of Bailey and Harper led to a 91-64 rout.The defense played their best game of the season causing turnovers and minimizing back door cuts for layups.I really liked Bailey at the top of the key against zone defense in the first half making short range jump shots.Harper was sensational getting a triple double for the first time in many decades for Rutgers.
Starting Thursday Rutgers plays only B1G Ten rivals.With the two bad losses against Kennesaw State and Princeton Rutgers must win games on the road to improve their NCAA resume.The one area that was lacking in this game was the poor 3 point shooting.Hayes and Martini had open shots but made only one 3 pointer.Somerville had a good game making shots near the basket.Acuff made a couple3 pointers near the end of the game.Shout out to Pikiell for getting the team ready to defend and rebound.

I agree with the posters who are acknowledging the D. This is the first game that I have seen where this team actually, consciously, played what looked like TEAM defense.

What I love about Ace is he immediately knew what it meant for Dylan and after scoring for the triple double and pointed to him. When Noble hit the three Ace was out there jumping around with him. Great kid and as everyone has said, he’s the highest ceiling of them all.

Absolutely. Loved it and no team would take offense at this.

Only game I went to live this year. Few observations.

Martini is useless. I mean just completely useless.

Acuff was cold shooting till the end but he looked decent and impactful on the floor when he was in.

Derkack is confident but needs to stop forcing bad shots when his drive is shut down.

Davis was gooood.

We can't break through picks and we have trouble keeping their guys away from the basket defensively.

My one critique from yesterday. We spend too much time celebrating & puffing our chests on dunks & 3's....how about you just act like you can score get back on D. As JMike is celebrating dunk with his hulk impression Columbia had ball inbounds and already past him heading down floor. My one exception in would make is Noble. Just PLAY!! Half the time we are getting dusted on D is there really a need to not just go out there and play. Different if fouled scored & play stopped

We got dusted because we're too slow in reacting and we're not as physical as we've been in past years. Columbia had a few possessions where they had multiple cuts and screens and just had a wide open layup because we couldn't switch or follow or get through the screen.

We get dusted on D because we are always chasing the ball & player. Has nothing to do with being slow its terrible fundamentals. We could have been back doored at least 20x yesterday. It was there twice on same possession and they didnt pass it either time

It's almost like because we do not move or make cuts w/o the ball we're shocked that every other team does.

They can deny the cuts by beating them to the spot or switching off on defense. We do neither
