I keep getting contacted by guys who swear they've heard that Flood is done, Wilson will finish out the season, and Rutgers will begin looking for a new head coach. Some of these guys are busters and could be full of crap. But several others aren't....and they are usually on the money with this stuff. Not sure what to believe.

It wouldn't surprised me in the least bit. Let's get the search going, now, before 20 other schools are doing the same.

So what are Barchi/Hermann going to do next week, tell everyone that they extended Flood's suspension? If not that, then do you actually think they are going to fire Flood next week? Don't see that happening at all (especially if we miraculously knock off MSU).

It seems like a distinct possibility. I think it's hard to underestimate how bad he made the football program and the athletic department look with his antics. It's another case where the cover up is worse than the crime, but the cover up was bad news. You can't trust a coach who does something like that.

Announcing Schiano as the new coach now while letting Norriew finish the season off is genius. Let's hope it gets done.

It doesnt matter. The guys we want are all still coaching (sans Schiano) and will be until December.

Wrong, it DOES matter:

- gives us time to put a proper list of candidates together and begin the "vetting process" (informally)

- contact agents

- allows the 2-week window, or however long it is, that we MUST post the position publicly, to be over with, quickly

- let's everyone involved concentrate on the hiring, instead of the firing, and that's something I think we'd all want, right?

If he has and the search formally begins it will have already started with Julie speaking to agents about what prospective candidates are interested.

How bad do they really look? It has completely blown over and 70% of the sports world doesn't even know or care that it happened. Carroo will be back any minute now and all you can kill Flood for is team performance. .. go back to harping on that, but no one cares about the emails

I doubt it, why would they suspend him, leave the suspension hanging out there for the full time only to fire him after that? Seems to serve no purpose. Then again, this is RU, so a nonsensical suspension then firing wouldn't be shocking. Likely they'll fire him at half-time of the OSU game with us up 14.

I have at least 3-4 people, daily, bring up the fact that our HC is a f*cking idiot for the nonsense he attempted to pull with e-mailgate.

If only this were true. But we know there are intense critics of athletics, not just at Rutgers but everywhere, including in high administrative positions, and those people have doubtless not forgotten. As long as Fludd is around those people have an albatross they can hang around the neck of the university and the athletic department.

Poor performance is enough for me...email stuff might be enough for Rutgers admin...all in all, it's probably enough to can him.

It could be that they're waiting for reports from this investigation?

Agree 100%

I honestly don't care if they fire him or not. But there was an easy chance to pull the band aid off and Barchi suspended him instead.
Makes no sense.

I agree with the sentiment you are trying to get across here. Flood certainly tarnished Rutgers reputation for the time being and has not blown over. But the fact that at least 3-4 people bring it up to you certainly has a lot to do with the fact that you're openly a Rutgers football fanatic.

My friends and acquaintances do the same to me but it is starting to trend down from when this all began.

Really? Have R Felonious Secondary all posted bail yet, or are they still singing to the cops on a daily basis?

Any other stories will be easier to weather if they are about Former Coach Flood.

If Flood had coached his last game, they wouldn't be letting him coach practice the other 6 days a week. Barchi already on record he's expects Flood to be coaching the team in 2016.

Good point!

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^THIS^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
The timing of this investigation, seems to correspond with everything else going on. I was wondering why it takes a team of lawyers to evaluate policy, and how that policy is being enforced. The answer is simple, it doesn't! They will come back within a week, and say that the policy has not been enforced, as it should be. And, blame Flood. Then you will see the firing of Flood. Soon(hopefully) followed by the announcement of a new Head Coach. The administration, needs reason to fire and not pay Flood, money is still an issue. This "investigation" will give them the necessary ammo needed. IMHO

But Nuts, do you really want the same sh!tshow as 2013? It would be out there w/i 6 hours because nothing is a secret at RU. People would be running to the NSL at the first hint.

Why people are so willing to throw everything away to get what they want is beyond me. Do you really want a lame duck HC and staff with 8 games remaining? Good bye any chance of winning games and good bye recruiting class.

Let him finish the season, then do whatever is necessary.

Some think that the investigation is to figure out if they can fire him for cause, thus saving money.

maybe it's to clear him of any doubts and conforms with barchi's favorable statements about him

Before this thread gets too long, can you expound on who these "guys" who keep contacting you are? Not names obviously, but are they connected at all, or are they just schmoes bustin your balls? Scale of 1-10, how connected are these "guys"?
