Has RU put together a good all around game yet? Maybe for 30 minutes of the DePaul game you can say RU played an all around game, but I think all the wins have come because of working hard on the boards and defense. If the shooting can come around this will be a tough team to beat, on most nights, which will be welcomed sight.

The question is really are we capable of playing well for an entire game. Their have been well played parts of games but there does not seem to be any indication that they can put it all together. In their defense, this is very much a new team. Even some of the veterans (Freeman and shag specifically) were hurt last year and didn't play with the other returning players like Sanders and Laurent last season. They are still learning how to be a team and quite frankly I think coach has done a great job in a short period of time. Nonetheless, most teams that are classified as average are so not because their players aren't capable of excellent play but that they don't play at an excellent level often enough. They hang tough but go through a rough stretch for 5 to 10 minutes and lose. It may be too early to tell if this group can develop into a really good team or maybe they are just an average kind of group that plays well some of the time.. We will see.

Every game won is a good game.
Learning how to win is what RU needs , even if there are flaws along the way.
I don't expect RU MBB to be a work of art on the floor, just give it's best effort and improve along the way to becoming a team you can count on to play good games on a constant bases..

Gee, kind of early to start asking a team with a new coach, a new system and several new players to be consistent. Let's wait and see how it plays out--would guess right around .500, which would please all of us no end.

The best we've looked so far was for 35 minutes of the DePaul game. Except for failing to step on their throat when we were up by 20, I think that was RU's best effort to date, especially because it was on the road.

I'm counting 7 good games thus far. If this was the past several years, we be agonizing over 2 to 3 WTF losses already.

Have to define "Good" - and in the context of this team, the amount of development that is needed, the unique 'beyond the W-L record' objectives that need to be achieved, determining "Good" is rather subjective - would guess that Pikiell would say that most of the games have been valuable - have been genuine positive steps forward. - there may have been a few games where things were rolling & RU could have turned it into a big blow-out ... but Pikiel made a move or two & things simmered down to a mildly comfortable lead. Pretty sure that right now, Pikiell can look at something that is working really well & say "OK we can do this all night ... now let's work on something else that we need to be able to do" he is stressing & thus 'tempering' the metal that this team is made of - in order to become stronger ..
So, a "good" game is hard to define .... however ... will admit that the fan inside would like to see RU put together one good really huge colossal victory - of course -purely for the very constructive purpose of giving the team the taste of a wide-margin win .... but suspect Pikiell would willingly trade a gaudy domination in one game for the refinement of several techniques that might pay dividends throughout the rest of the season in close games against tough opponents.

team had won 7 of its last 47 games coming into the season, team has now won 7 of its last 8. Team is learning how to win and how to handle being the better team and with more expectations. RU hasnt played all that well lately because perhaps peoples expectations have projected them better than they are. Its not a knock on RU, its the sharp play early was sort of fools gold, this team is going to have to work for every win this year from here on out

According to Sagarin what we've played and are about to play:

Rutgers: 131 (our RPI is better at 86)

Miami 27
Seton Hall 54
Depaul 166
Fordham 188
Drexel 233
Niagara 263
FDU 278
Stony Brook 290
North Texas 306
CCSU 320
Morgan State 326
Hartford 328

It took Pikiell 3 years (36-81) after Stony Brook hired him to start winning there (16-14).
That's not a knock on his coaching ability, but showing a quick fix sometimes isn't the case and building a winning program takes time.
RU has started off great, but expect hard time for a couple of years before RU will be a constant winner and have records that might earn an NCAA invite.
Until then, any win is a good game :cool2:

The answer is no. We have rebounded well in almost every game, got a ton of second chance points off offensive rebounding, and got out on the break a few games, and have had a block party in a game or two. But nowhere near a complete game, in shooting from 2, shooting from 3, defending the 3 point line, multiple assist night for players with a 20 assist total for team. With the exception of a couple of games , I think we are or will be a good foul shooting team. Corey and Nigel have to shoot better because our bigs shoot pretty well from the line.
