Whose personal definitions of bad behavior or ethics should I be using, if not mine? And immaturity, in adults, is pretty widely considered bad behavior. The problem here is that you project on others your own personal definition of what is considered bad behavior/ethical breach.
Anonymous hyper critical, over the top remarks on a hyper emotional, evocative message board live stream is purely "bad behavior".(or an ethical breach as you label it). That is your & clearly other's opinions. I don't see it as "bad" or "good"or unethical anything...just silly, impulsive, spontaneous, at times immature, & rather innocuous in the end. Who exactly are these dopey game thread remarks (in the name of fandom) objectively damaging ? Why are such remarks so rigidly judged as an ethical breach - minor or otherwise ? Let's talk about the cold pizza my loving wife served me. Now that's an ethical breach to me but not to my relatives in Florida. They love it.
I suppose we can take a poll, but it is probably around 50/50 of those who find game day thread remarks purely" bad" as opposed to an emotional rollercoaster filled with a plethora of both positive & negative remarks often interjected by the same person(s) within a minute or two Ie. bac2therac
PSU coach committed what many thought was a breach when he called out his team publicly.. He did not do this in the name of hate since he clearly loves his players. I guess it worked because they proceeded to win the next few games going away.
You're a bright guy, but your hyperbolic analogy comparing what you personally define as message board related bad behavior/ethical breach (in the name of love or otherwise) is misguided.
Also, I referred to the bashing of players as childish or bad behavior. Where I used “ethical breach”, I was discussing murder, or Stalin’s purges, or the entire spectrum of potential bad behavior in general. I don’t think angrily bashing players is particularly unethical. Just classless and childish.
As for me being a bright guy, I believe I’m half an idiot savant. Not sure that qualifies as bright. 🙂
