Went to the Lipscomb at FGCU game at Alico Arena last night. FGCU has 6 players 6'6" or taller. Lipscomb has 7 players 6'6" or taller (one of them 7-2). None are future NBA players, but serviceable Div-1 players. Catch the ball (hands), dribble, shoot, shoot fouls, pass, move their feet and hustle up-and-down the court. FGCU's height is from Brooklyn, Croatia, Miami (2), Orlando, Zambia. Lipscomb's height is from Nashville, Tucson, Memphis, Princeton KY, Concord NC (2), Brandon FL. Is Rutgers provincial recruiting focus (the local area) hurting us? In the Big Ten are you forced to be extremely picky? Or is our staff not connected enough to other parts of the country when it comes to recruiting? All of the height I saw play last night could have contributed to this year's Rutgers basketball team.

Be careful, I remember one time fans were complaining about height and to address that we got Josh Sankes and Jamal Holcomb.

Didn't Sankes move on to Holy Cross, get decent playing time, and contribute to a team that played in the NCAA playoffs? The idea that every one on the roster needs to be NBA- or All-League caliber to compete and win is false. Developing players, using them in the right scheme for the right amount of minutes, and having the right players on the floor at the right time is on the coach and his staff.

Need two players. One center and one forward who match the level of play of Sanders. Every now and then be rookie/player of the week in B1G play and bring a 20+ point performance occasionally. RU would be competitive in every league game. RU is not really that far away.

How can you say Rutgers isn't far away when they haven't
won a league game in two years, there is no recruiting base ,fan support is dwindling and the facilities can't match the competition?

Thank you RUJMM78. I was beginning to think that the official NJ start time for Happy Hour had been moved up to midday.

Because this team has played some very good first halves during the season. That is with the current talent level and the unfortunate injuries. The B1G teams turn the games around after halftime. They make the adjustments to open leads throughout the second half. A couple of consistent extra scorers for RU makes it much more difficult and much more complicated for the opponent to adjust their game plan for the second half.
Pretty obvious about the recruiting base when over some years, the entire recruiting class is gone from the team. This means more than a coaching problem. It is the whole system, top to bottom. It is Hobbs job to change this.
Fan support and facilities will be taken care of by winning. That means getting a couple of players to make the difference in every game.

RUbarb Pi ... A couple more good players would only mean that we could begin to have meaningful practices. Truthfully, other Big Ten coaches have been very kind to Eddie during games.

When in the last 30 plus years have players developed at RU?

As a sidebar, FGCU's hosts Kennesaw State tonight (02/20/16). Kennesaw State's head coach is Al Skinner.

Two of Skinner's assistants are familiar names. Ex-BC player Michael Cotton and ex-Rhode Island player Carlton Owens. Both Cotton and Owens have fairly recent NJ-area ties -- Cotton at Rider and Bucknell University, and Owens at Gill St. Bernards HS and AAU's Hoop Heaven.
