I just can’t understand how he or others think he is a NBA player. I’m not going to get into the nuisances of it but every time we watch a better team they have a scoring guard that is clearly a level above, and these aren’t even considered top draft choices

His all around game has improved since freshman year, but still has so much to work on offensively. Don’t know why he would be drafted.

Calling something you post a hot take might be bad form...

Just sayin

It’s a tounge in cheek saying that’s often used on the main board. I’m basically making fun of myself using it.

Perhaps you could contribute to the thread by giving us your opinion as I know your much more dialed and in and have a more valid opinion then I do?

Corey has 2 moves: drive as hard as he can to the right, jump as high as he can, throw up a layup or drive as hard as he can to the right, stop and attempt a fade away. He's so predictable. He can't shoot, has no left hand and has below average BBIQ. It would be one thing if he was 6'6 but he's barely 6'2.

May not be a top 10 guard in the conference. NBA is not in the realm of possibility at this time.

If we are going to compete with the Big 10 upper echelon we need better than him. That says all you need to know about him being an NBA player.

If we are going to compete in the Big 10 we need him to get better. Since Rutgers is not going to get one and done we need to be the team where the players improve during their four years. I think Corey can continue to get better as i think he has improved leaps and bounds on defense.

He is a Junior. As good as his defense might be getting if he isn’t going to be a 18-22 point scorer with 7 assists a night we don’t need him with this team. Let the younger kids develop

Not really a hot take if there’s been 50 threads on it already over the past 2 weeks

Ahhhhh. That was joke. Who puts Hot take in the title if they really think it is????

I know it’s not and has been talked about plenty

Why are we obsessed over his desire to play in the NBA? He is the best ball handler we have had in a long long time. He can't be trapped, double teamed or pressed. He just dribbles around them. Yes he isn't a great shooter. If he was he would be at Kentucky. I'm wrong he'd be playing for the Lakers by now. He came here when this program was at rock bottom. And when he's hot he's unstoppable. Why don't you just enjoy him while you still have a chance.

Can’t you guys chill on Corey and the NBA thing? I’m mainly concerned with dancing and we need him next year to do it. Give it a rest. It’s like some of you are obsessed and want to hate.

The 15+ kids on the team when we do finally dance will become Rutgers legend. We have a good chance to do it next year, and Corey would be one of those legends.

For me, I bring it up because what am I enjoying? The excitement over him coming back was his game would improve in areas he would need it to and he would be a leader on and off the court.

IMO, he hasn’t been either this year. Everything you just mentioned doesn’t mean anything if you don’t have a shot or don’t set up your teammates. I get pleasure watching the performance and effort of 5 other players on this team before him

It seems like you and a bunch of others enjoy to hate on the kid. So the kid wants to play in the NBA? No sh*t.

Why no threads on Williams, Baker or Freeman who struggled?

Then just wait for the roster to turn over and we’ll see you again in a year and a half.

This is such a juvenile response. I like this team. I like the effort and potential of a lot of these guys. My post is specifically about Sanders. Another guy who I root for every game. You are are turning him into some talent that he just hasn’t been though.

My bad. Did they explore the NBA draft the last two years?

I'm a little disappointed with Sanders play this season but RU is a MUCH better team with him on the floor.

As far as the NBA, I agree with the majority on here that he is not ready and won't get drafted at this rate but I do think he can find his way unto a summer league team which will give him a small chance of impressing a team or perhaps getting assigned to a G League team like one of Pikell's former player, Jameel Warney

And just to be clear. I think this team is good. And if they turn their shooting around, we have an outside chance at the NIT

I was only and specifically discussing Sanders. And only him because he has thought he has a chance at the NBA the last two years

they have been criticized on the boards but I do not recall any of those 2 proclaiming themselves NBA players either

Why does him having tested the water have anything to do with you trashing him when he has a tough night but not our other players? (Btw I don’t think we should be trashing any of our players)

If what I wrote in OP is considered trashing in your mind I don’t know what to tell you. I hate to play this card but I was told much worse about my play many times growing up in baseball, basketball and soccer...as a teenager

Edit: I was decent enough to play all those sports for 10+ years in organized leagues

why do you want a player to stick around who isn't a winning player, has a low basketball IQ, shows weak leadership with technical fouls, and has an inflated view of himself? Why not just let him go and play overseas and Rutgers bball can move on by getting another Pike player a year sooner? I don't understand why you guys want him to stick around

So because he tested NBA waters, which is actually the smart thing to do, he should be eaten alive by his own fanbase?

its not just that, its his talk on social media and reputation he had coming in which was self proclaimed, if you are going to talk the talk you need to walk the walk...and you need to take criticism, I do not think anyone is over the top with their criticism of Corey

Because he is better than any other replacement on this team. Pretty simple, take him off this current team and they are much worse.

I have argued before, and been shot down, that I didn’t think it was the right thing to do. I’ll admit maybe I’m wrong on it but I didn’t understand why you would purposely put yourself out there to NBA scouts to have them watch your game, to tell you why your not good enough. I get why borderline players do it, but not Sanders

Not when he plays the way he did tonight. And too often against better teams

Corey played like hot garbage tonite and I am sure he knows it.. I just don't understand the disdain on this board for this player though.

are they though? I'd rather not have him on the team next year and have his game rub off anymore on guys like Mathis. Let the backcourt be Mathis and Geo next year with Kiss and Thiam and hopefully get that freshman PG since Souf can't play. Maybe they struggle a little next year but those growing pains are over by year 4. I don't get the love affair with Sanders. A great athlete playing basketball. Not a good basketball player though. And not a guy you want as a senior leader of the team next year. Let him go play in the pros somewhere
