I had the good fortune of sitting behind Anthony Davis, during the Louisville game. At the beginning of the game, Anthony was mildly enthused. At the end Anthony wanted to be part of something SPECIAL. I could SEE it, in his eyes. So thats my hope for the OSU game. Get the Top 5 NJ recruits in here, like Rashan Gary, etc, beat OSU, then watch the FLOODgates open.

Wasn't Anthony Davis playing right guard in the '06 game?

Beat Ohio State this season? This is no Ryan Hart 2002 Rutgers: Who fought like a pack of wolves and were robbed in the last second of the 1st half.

Now in Flood 4rd season: Based on the law of averages against teams with a winning record, the magic 8 Ball points to...

But as a RU fan, like Andy Dufresne, I have hope.

The at West Virginia 2006 game is still one of the most exciting and crazy I've ever witnessed. But the outcome sort of dampened the excitement. We'd be lucky to pull off something similar here with OSU.

Speaking of 8 pm kicks my main hope is that RU is still actually in the game at 9.

Moz, AD was a senior at Piscataway in Nov. 2006 no doubt doing well in his favorite subject - lunch. Wish I could find the article where he said that!

This is what I'm afraid of. The game is an 8pm start. We're already committed to an 8am start for tailgate.

I think I might need a nap.
Sounds like we're gonna need to take tailgating to a whole 'nother level and break out the inflatable mattresses.

No. Just no.
In a one off. Its not a crazy as it seems. Back in the day the NFL champ used to play a team of college all stars and occasional the college kids would win.

Now obviously that was before NFL players were year round guys (most had jobs in the offseason), but then again, it was also before College players had access to pro level training equipment.

But yes, I think OSU or any of the top few teams, could play a competetive GAME against a bad NFL team.

Never. There were similar statements made when Alabama had that stacked team a couple years ago. That Alabama team had maybe 15 NFL caliber players on it. Even the worst team in the NFL has 53 NFL caliber players on it.

And yet - when it actually came to the rest - the college kids did well against the best the NFL had to offer.

Lets put it this way - a D1AA team should basically have no D1A quality players on it. If they could be in D1A they would, right? And yet D1AA teams do beat or play competitively with D1A teams.

Im not saying they would win often. But they would be alot more competitive than people are making out and occasionally they would win against a bad NFL team.

No way. OSU would get run out of the building against every NFL team. Hell, they lost to VT. Many people said the same thing during the basketball season about Kentucky but every NBA analyst said that the worse NBA team would beat Kentucky easily.

That's like saying The #1 high school team could beat a bad college team. They can't. The jump from HS to college is ridiculously hard and the jump from college to the NFL is even harder. OSU is a great team, but of the 85 man roster how many will actually get playing time in the NFL? Not enough to actually beat an NFL team.

No college team would ever beat an NFL team. Ever.

Then you must have missed the spirited debate on this board over whether or not the Greg Schiano Scarlet Knights could beat the Greg Schiano Buccaneers. At the time the opinions were pretty evenly divided.

To be considered comparable to Louisville 2006 we'd have to win…no?

OK - it actually did happen -
on August 2, 1963 in the College All-Star Football Classic - the college squad scored a 20-17 upset win over the NFL champion Green Bay Packers.
- of course this can be discounted as an 'exhibition game' - but when you read the articles from the time - there was absolutely no 'oh gee this was just for fun' being uttered by the Packers - the Packer players viewed it as a loss and Lombardi viewed it as a loss (and he never let that team forget it).

That was a college ALL STAR team, 22 first team All Americans…big difference.

I think you have some tailgating members that know how to nap almost any where. Could be on a mattress or sidewalk. The options are endless.

Yep, and half the people in that divide were delusional.

Those college ALL STAR games vs the NFL Champs were great. Frank Burns, played in one as a line backer. Was the MVP that day.Great athlete.Great person.

To give everyone the tinest once of hope.. Just remember that OSU had a WTF game against crappy VT.

Why couldn't we be their WTF game this year?

No matter what many drinks shall be consumed.. That much i know.

Wouldn't it be great if Rutgers not only won the game but beat the living snot out of OSU, winning something like 56-7?!!!!! I would give anything for that outcome.
