I think the OSU game SURPASSES Louisville '06

How about the 2012 Knights vs the 2014 Knights? What about a Greg Schiano coached team vs a Kyle Flood coached team?

Unless the weather is a disaster (like the Wisconsin game) the OSU atmosphere will be epic. We will need to significantly win the turnover battle to have a shot at beating the them, but I would love to send Urban home with a loss.

Hate when people say dumb stuff like this....shows they have no clue
Again - not really. As has been pointed out - in the past college all stars (i.e. a team of guys who just got together for the weekend) did beat the NFL champs. Could that happen now? I have no idea. It was a different era. College guys stayed all four years, and pro guys didnt train 24/7/365. On the other hand, college guys didnt train 24/7/365 starting in HS like they do now either. But its not out of this world crazy to think that a great college team could beat a terrible pro team on occasion.

What I hate is people who say stuff like you say because its common wisdom - the pros are all pro players, and the college kids are only maybe 1/3rd pro players. Well like I said - nearly every D1AA team is made up of non-BCS players. Every kid on Northern Iowa would give his right nut to play for Iowa and all of Iowa's players were good enough to get recruited by Iowa and stick on the team. And yet sometimes Iowa loses or plays close against Northern Iowa. And thats with Northern Iowa having 25% fewer players (unlike the pros, where the supposed better team has FEWER players, not more.) How is that possible?

Well, considering in 2002 when our program was still dog#it and we had the defending national champion, #1 Miami Hurricanes on the ropes going into the 4th quarter I suppose anything is possible in college football. But then again, Urban Meyer is not Larry Coker and his team will not be sleepwalking into this game the way Miami did that morning. After UL 2006 and to a lesser extent Michigan in 2014, the word is out that you actually now have to show up to win in Piscataway. We aren't sneaking up on anyone anymore.

I don't have much hope that we beat OSU this year even though I will be expecting a win on game day. I meant West Virginia who we never seemed to beat, not Miami.

PSU almost beat OSU last year so there is always a chance!

The issue when you play OSU (or UM for that matter) in a close game is you have to defeat TWO teams, the other being the B1G referees. For some reason their flags get stuck in their pockets when the OSU OL is holding and their flags always seem to fall onto the field when the opposition's defense has a close play in the secondary. It's a miracle of nature, I guess. [eyeroll]

Atmosphere on campus the day of and going into kickoff will be amazing. There will be a TON of OSU fans both on campus and in the stadium. I know of several OSU fans who bought full season tickets just so they can ensure they attend the game.

The atmosphere from kickoff and afterwards will depend if RU can play well and keep it close. Otherwise we'll see the student section empty after half time.

I just can't conjure how we can win this game. I was in columbus this year for our game and they are ... faster, bigger, more skilled, better coached, and more blood thirsty. Barring some kind of insane game with alot of inexplicable turnovers, I don't see a path for a win.

Anything could happen. The odds are low but we are home, at night. Anything could happen so lets get excited about the possibilities before the game. Hence the atmosphere comparison to Lville 2006.

If Rutgers plays it's best football, we can't be beat.

By anyone? What if the other team also plays its best football. Are you saying we spend alot of time playing worse than our best? Shouldnt we get a new coach, or recruit more motivated players?

When, in recent memory, has Rutgers played their "best football"? UNC?

UNC is no ohio st.

yes, lots of mental mistakes against the big boys, which is part of the reason why we got smoked four times. we didn't play our best football till the UNC game.

I'm not even optimistic that we win at statepenn, this game will be out of reach quickly

I will say one thing....

If Rutgers can manage to take care of Penn state on the road (not easy), and two weeks before, to upend a potentially top 5 Michigan State team (if they beat Oregon at home)...on a blackout on a Saturday night....

then

the build up to #1 Ohio state, 7-0, riding a 20 game winning streak coming in to play #10 ranked Rutgers at 6-0 (yes, we would be #10 at 6-0 with 3 big ten wins, one being at Penn State and one being a top 5 Michigan State team), with GameDay coming to Piscataway for the ABC prime time game with Fowler and Hebie on the call...would be a build up of BEYOND epic proportions and would dwarf the build up to the RU-Ville 2006 game

OSU gave up 2 turnovers and didn't score twice in the 10 yard line vs Alabama and won

OSU gave up 4 turnovers to Oregon and still won by 20

You should know by now holding is rarely called in any B1G game. OSU DL gets held all day. Just have to get used to it.

I think being a night game actually works against RU because the OSU players will be up for the game. If it was a noon game it could be a trap.

Dear God, please take this conspiracy garbage back to BWI.

These good people don't deserve to be sullied with it.

Please stop. Penn State has had more that their fair share of calls going their way. The problem is people tend to remember the calls that go against you in a lose rather the. Then calls that help you win. There is no Michigan or Ohio State conspiracy with the conference. Just a bunch of whining Penn state fans who can't handle the fact that those schools have for the most part been better programs and beat Penn state. You sound like a two year old who is a sore loser. There was a study done last year comparing officiating in all the conferences. The B1G actually was one of the conference with the least bias and any bias was towards the lesser teams in the conference. Penn State was one of two teams that got more calls that went their way then the other schools. Let face it. The ACC conference had the most bias. The officiating tears are just excuses for not getting it done on the field.
