So after every game win, lose or tie, I always go visit the other teams free board if they have one. Anyhow I went over to the indiana free board and I swear it sounds like us in 2019. It’s just total capitulation over there and disgust. I am not writing this to bust on them in any way because we have been there recently during the Ash heap years.
I did get a chuckle out of this post from an Indiana fan: “Schiano peacocking around the Rutgers sideline like he was winning the dadgum Super Bowl was a real kick to the gut. Rutgers took a dump in a doggie bag, lit it on fire and rang the doorbell. What a joke this season has become.”
We can all relate to this guys frustration.

I am away this weekend and could only listen to parts of the game on the radio while I was driving.

SiriusXM had the Indiana radio broadcast, and listening to them describe their ineptitude on the field definitely brought flashbacks to me of the Ash era teams that didn’t look like they were prepared for FBS, let alone B1G, football..

Whatever. We beat them handily when we first got into the league when we still had Greg’s recruits. They took advantage of the Ash debacle and embarrassed us several times. Last year, even with their best team in 30+ years, we saw the worm begin to turn slightly as we played a somewhat competitive game. They are beat up (but so are we) and Allen is a very good coach, their best since Bill Mallory, but they are actually the least of my worries when it comes to us ascending in the B1G east division. Need to beat Maryland in two weeks.

I say this all the time. It's not easy to be consistent week to week and year to year. So don't assume what you see one week or year is what you'll see the next. The grind of the season and the lack of surprise to your opponents when you've done well are things you have to overcome.

I went over there to see some interesting stuff . Tennessee messed up with schiano …everyone should be fired …..Allen’s press conferences should be more like woodson’s ….just wait on woodson’s press conferences in January/February …oh and someone bumped a post from two years ago announcing the excited hiring of the new OC. Not so excited In yesterday’s bump .
There were also posts about other Indiana lesser sports that no one on the board really cares about . Seems like a familiar place

I was listening too. It reminded me of the guy calling games in Major League when the Indians sucked.

Just goes to show how difficult it is to build a program in the Big, Allen has done a good job, but injuries quickly expose the second tier teams in the Big. They were a very good team last year until their QB got hurt and he did not make the recovery they had hoped for, and they do not have step in talent.
It will take years of solid recruiting and astute portal decisions to reach consistency, and you still need to win enough along the way to sell the promise.

Big big difference IMO.

Allen has had success at Indiana.

As for Ash... 'nuff said. May his name be uttered less and less in coming years. His stench is nearly gone.

Their fans really are taking this loss hard. It's as if they walked into the stadium yesterday completely unaware their team was 2-7, having only beaten mighty Idaho, and squeaked by Western Kentucky. We were 4-5, with a win over Illinois in-conference. We also gave Michigan an absolute scare in the Big House. Heck, we play everyone better away.

Like most fans including many of our own, I don’t think they pay attention to other schools beyond any big headlines or the usual generalizations.

Hey Indiana, if you decide to go in another direction, there is this great guy who will blow you away in the interview process.

Was there for the rainy miserable 41-0 L in 2018. Now Schiano comes back and in that same stadium we win 38-3 in Bloomington. One program on one trajectory. The other exactly where they belong, historically.
Careful. Historically we belong right down there with them. But I get your point. IU has a track record spanning over a century in big ten football. We have 8 seasons worth of RU in the B1G.

And their fans are wrong about Allen. A big component of modern day coaching is cheerleading so you don’t hurt players feelings. Welcome to modern day team sports in America.

Indiana is a state with little football talent and three Division 1-A football programs. We should always be light years ahead of Indiana and Purdue.

Which is why I think neither of them want ND in the BIG. It is tough enough recruiting against them now, if all three schools had the same schedule ND would take every good player away in a heart beat. Even in some of the other sports like mbb. I could be wrong but I don’t think IU/PU want anything to do with ND in the BIG. Not that they could stop it from happening if the rest of the league and ND wanted it to happen.

ND recruits nationally. They’re the furthest thing from Indiana and Purdue’s mind. If anything those schools likely want more from Kentucky, Louisville and Cincy’s pool of recruits.

Anyone listen to Allen's post-game presser? He's a class guy, but I doubt he gave RU too much credit, his team did a lot of self destructing.

Here is Allen post-game presser. He did a lot of looking down when answering the press' questions. He's a good coach, but doesn't project the leadership that Schiano does when he speaks.

Don't recall seeing this on the broadcast, but a couple of Indiana players apparently got into a skirmish (with each other) on the sideline.

They had a dream season with Allen last year that any RU fan would love.

Allen is definitely a better coach than Ash which is a low bar.

It's hard to conceive of a B1G coach in modern times who is worse than Ash. Maybe the UMD coach they brought in from Michigan when we hired Ash.

I did not want to encourage anyone from going over there and start posting on their board. alot of us did not like it when trolls would come onto our board and clown us after a humiliating loss during the Ash heap years. I thought it better I post one humerous post from their board that kind of summed up their feelings, that ALL of us Rutgers fans can relate to.

And to add insult to injury, our marching band was selected to be the closing band in the grand nationals exhibition in Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on Saturday night, where they played Rutgers fight songs before their performance. It seemed like we invaded the Hoosier state this weekend.

Video of the Rutgers Band Performance
I have been hard on the RU band in the past. That was the best performance I have seen. Why don't they enter the field at halftime this way? The marching, choreography and execution were more intricate and precise. This is the product we should see every weekend!

Flood was actually a pretty decent coach and an even nicer person. How and why he got involved in the whole dressing up in disguise and all that stuff still confounds me to this day. While I think Flood is a decent coach, he definitely had some character flaws which manifested themselves in his only stint as a head coach.
Long Story short, Flood was a much better head coach than Ash.

Flood sucked . I thought that when he was hired, wrongly retained and when he was fired . Same with ash .
Finally, we have a coach that gives us a shot.

Agreed. Indiana lost that game, more than we won it.

I get that you like the guy and perhaps he is a good guy, but his dressing up actions don’t confound me. Flood simply put was simple. He could only speak in coach speak and cliches (his interviews were cringe worthy). He came across as a dum asss jock. The whole disguise fiasco underscores how inept his judgement was.

He was given the gift of the Big Ten, and he fumbled. He embarrassed us and our university so I have no empathy for him. Think about this, he coached here but he would never have been admitted here. I am glad he is long gone.

PS - if he was such a decent coach why is he one of the few Schiano left behind?
