Can someone explain why it’s ok for Davis to chuck a contested three 5 seconds into the shot clock ?
Not excusing Simpson, but Davis has even poorer judgment. If I’m coaching I take a timeout just to take Davis out.

Gavin’s shooting is comparable to almost everyone on this team and unlike most of them he’s already shown that he can get real hot and give us 25.

Still p’ssed on the reverse of goal tending call. It was clearly on the way down What replay did refs look at and how could they overturn the call on the floor. ??
I agree. I take umbrage with all the posts saying that Pike doesn’t run an offense, or the bad shooting is Pikes fault. Illinois jacking up three-pointers on the fast break and making it; driving to the hoop and making it. We do the same thing and don’t make it. It’s just talent.
And then it’s spirals. When shooters make shots, you have to close out, then you can get the defense unbalanced, and get easy buckets. Conversely, you don’t make shots and everything bogs down.

How can he make shots or develop any confidence when he gets pulled after two minutes?
He did that a single time and it was against a low major. He’s shown close to nothing since the schedule picked up at the start of December
Is it just me or compared to teams of the past this season it seems like more guys are only interested in getting their own? E.g. looking for their own shot, not making the extra pass, not driving and dishing. Part of this I think is visible by looking at Cliffs stats this year, apart from this game there's been plenty of times he goes 3/4/5 possessions without touching the ball - imo unacceptable.

Can’t blame anyone but Paul for that. Not Pike’s fault that Paul changed his mind after Pike brought Oskar back.
Shot selection is terrible. It's on the coaches to run stuff to put players in a better position to score. Pike has never been able to do that. If he could do that Baker would have scored 20+ ppg.
As I said — his shooting is comparable to most on the team. Derek shot 3-13 against Nebraska and people went nuts. Gavin hasn’t been given that leash. Last game he went 2-5. Give him 13+ shots and then we can talk.
He had already left - and came back because Mulcahy WASN'T here. Rumor was Mulcahy later inquired about coming back - but that well had been poisoned by that point.
I get that but Oskar wasnt let back there would have been an open spot
