We all know how well the PSU and Michael Jackson sleepover things went......creepy

said ‘Tell you what, I’ll just sleep on the floor in your room.’ I said ‘Coach, I have Penn State stuff all over my walls.’ He said, ‘Tell you what, I can help you take it down.’

Maybe after the sleep over they can get on Quinn's Jet and fly to bizzaro world. These two seem like a match made in heaven.

Any other male on the planet announcing he was going to sleep over a HS students house would be labeled a pedophile. Its creepy...NJ recruits or not.

I agree a little odd. But to be honest with all of you, where the heck are his parents? Trust me no head coach was sleeping in my sons room and frankly if my son was OK with this I would be worried about him.

where are the parents? at the house. he said he was spending the night at the house not his bedroom. he wants to talk with the parents as much as nordin. nordin has said his mother has has some questions for harbaugh.

Wrong he said he would sleep on the floor in his bedroom, read the article.

"Under the exact rules, he’s going to be at my house at 12:01 he said. That’s when it’s legal for him to be at my house,” Nordin said. “He said we can watch a movie, see how well we gel and he said he would sleep over after that."

His recruiting visit is basically 95% of tinder dates

Harbaugh should do his own "Coming Home" video with him flying in a maize and blue jet to sleep over at the kid's house. Parents and the kid meeting Jim at the airport, etc. King High can do the edit. :)

Oh yeah .. funny don't recall the stories of Bear Bryant, Bo Schembechler, Woody Hayes, Bobby Bowden showing up at a recruit's house with plans to sleep on the kid's floor

Harbaugh is significantly crazy - sometimes people think he is 'an out of the box thinker' - other times they figure he is just 'out of his mind'

Well he's obviously doing it with the kids and parents permission so while very weird, I don't know if creepy. It seems funny to me. I mean the recruit himself was laughing at it all. He says he's got PSU stuff all over his walls and Harbaugh is like I can help you take it down haha. I don't follow recruiting a ton but from what I've seen it can be a weird, crazy, sleazy, etc.. business and this is just another thing in that vein.

Will Harbaugh wear these for the sleepover?

or these?

I thought I read that he was prepared to sleep over if need be. In other words: He'll do whatever it takes to get the kid.

I'm not sure if that was meant to be taken literally.

This puts a spotlight on how important the kicker position is. Hopefully whoever Nordin rejects does not then go after Barbir.

After hearing the news, Franklin has arranged the entire PSU staff to sleep over at Nordin's house. Sandusky is rumored to have applied as recruiting coordinator.

Agree 100%. I'm sure he said that tongue in cheek to show how much he wanted the kid to verbal to UM, but - as a professional coach who is on a recruiting expense account - he has a reservation (set up by his admin) at the nearest hotel.

Harbaugh is a good coach. But everywhere he's been, he's never been able to quite get over the proverbial hump. Eventually his schitck wear thin and it all falls apart. I give him three years max at AA.

And as far as Jersey recruits going there - it's cyclical. Remember 2008 when Michigan cleaned up NJ with Marcus Witherspoon, JB Fitzgerald and Brandon Smith. Oh, what you don't remember them? Exactly.

What???
His first HC job ever was taking a San Diego to 2 conference champions and 22-2 in his last 2 years.
Goes to Stanford and takes a doormat to the Orange Bowl and wins it.
Goes to SF and takes them to 3 NFC Championships and a Super Bowl in 4 years.
And Coach of the Year in 2011.

What more do some of you want out of him?? The guy is a great coach period! Oh BTW he took a Michigan team that lost to Rutgers last year and went 10-3 with the same players that previous coaches couldn't win with.

The hatred for him and the stupidity on this board is beyond dumbfounding.

But that's the beauty of college, his schtick shouldn't wear thin in the same way because one they're students not adults so greater tolerance for it and two they won't be the same faces as kids are continuously graduating and leaving. If he's winning, I don't think anyone will care. That's really all that counts.

Stupidity? Did I say he's a bad coach? Did I say he doesn't produce? I'm a die hard Niner Fan. So, I know a thing or two about Harbaugh.

Well, it wore thin at Stanford.

Did it? I don't remember that. He left Stanford on a high note. Really the only place where I've ever seen it mentioned is at SF and that was with NFL players. Every other time he left a destination it was an upgrade to a new and better job. USD to Stanford to NFL where his personality became an issue and now back to UM.

This is complete nonsense "But everywhere he's been, he's never been able to quite get over the proverbial hump." Yes that is a stupid statement.
Never got over the hump??? He has been a winner and a great winner where ever he as been!

So, being a runner up in the Super Bowl is a great winner? As Paul O'Neil of the Yankees reminded Joe Torre - second place only means you're the number one loser.

Here is my prediction and you can call me out on it if it doesn't come true - Harbaugh will never win the B1G. Why? Because someone, somewhere, like an Urban Meyer will always be an Achilles heel to him. In the same way as Carrol/USC in the Pac 10 and Carrol/Seahawks in the NFC West. When pitted against other great coaches, Harbaugh loses. Just watch.

Also, eventually, everybody grows to hate Harbaugh. I mean EVERYBODY - fans, coaches, players, you name it. Why do you think the Niners were the most penalized team in the NFL during Harbaugh's years? It's because the Refs hated Harbaugh!!! By the way, have you even spoken to him - do you know what he is like?

Again - does it mean he's a bad coach? No, it does not. Does it mean he won't win a lot of games at Michigan and compete? No, it does not. But will he win the "big one"? Get over the "hump"? Based on past results - my prediction is NO HE WILL NOT. And eventually, they will run him out of Michigan. You want to call that stupid - go ahead.

So only coaches that have one a Super Bowl are great coaches?? Yes getting your team to 3 NFC championships and one Super Bowl in your 1st 4 years is a great accomplishment. Name me another coach who has done that.

Harbaugh has a much better record in his first 11 years as a HC than Pete Carroll did.

This "wearing out the welcome" thing is not imagined - even Harbaugh himself frequently acknowledges that it exists - he is sometimes so 'over they top' competitive & sometimes to the point of offending people.

Towards the end - it was not all sweetness & light at Stanford - oh it did not get super ugly - but you can figure that the folks at Stanford are quite happy with the coach they have now

Just one article for example -

http://espn.go.com/blog/bigten/post/_/id/113365/harbaugh-will-win-big-but-for-how-long
"There are also many stories of Harbaugh clashing with Stanford administrators over admissions policies and other issues. Our sympathies in advance to any Michigan higher-ups who try to tell their new coach no on something."

Harbaugh is good - very very good - but often his restlessness / relentless competitiveness ends up seeing him moving on - before he has reached his ultimate goal ... now maybe a College National Championship was too much to expect at Stanford - but he certainly got them in to some of the conversations ... maybe a Super Bowl ring was still possible with the 49ers - he got oh so close ... but it appears that Harbaugh is built for a powerful beginning leadiing to the apex of his performance - and then on to a new challenge .... not sure he is wired to stay in one place and go through natural cycles of build - rise to top - rebuild - rise again - rebuild again ....

The clashing with admin is possible but IIRC they made a big offer to try to keep him. Actions speak louder than words and stories. If his act wore thin they would have shown him the door like the 49ers did. They didn't and they wanted him to stay and tried their best to keep him. I did a quick look and found an article referencing such.

He most definitely has a personality that can be hard to deal with but as long as he's winning I don't see any issue with the UM admin and him. If someone cuts the relationship it will be Harbaugh leaving for the NFL again rather than UM admin trying to fire him or get rid of him.

He built Stanford up and SF back up and turned what many thought a #1 overall bust into a contributing player. Is he Parcells like in his nomadic ways? I can't say that because really the only place this has come up with any real consequence is SF. Like I said every other job was a "promotion." It wasn't a lateral move. If he moved from UM to UF or USC or something like that then yea I can say he's a restless type, right now can't say that really because all the moves prior to the last one were upward.

From the articles:
Jay Glazer reported that Stanford has upped its offer significantly, and Harbaugh is leaning toward staying.

Harbaugh met with Stanford President John Hennessey and other school officials this morning, and CSN Bay Area reports that the purpose of meeting was so that administrators “could make their absolute best offer to try and retain him.”

See how he met (or captured) his wife in San Diego. Tells you a lot about his persona.
