Hey, how’s Rutgers’ “best men’s coach” doing with the baseball team these days? Off to a hot start?Yawn....
No. Why have a coach at all ? They don’t score points. Well conceived offense generates good shots. Most of our shots are last second prayers.Offenses don’t score points. Players do.
We don’t have good offensive players right now. It’s not complicated
Cool so does 99% of schools except they don’t have monster classes comingWe still need to hit the portal in the off season. Need 5 or 6 players to leave.
I think those players you just named could run a motion offense that doesn’t look stuck in the mud throwing prayers half the timeCaleb is a great defensive player, Paul is scrappy, Cliff gets garbage points and dunks, Spencer is hot and cold, Oskar and Hyatt are a lot more cold than hot, Simpson is young, etc. Barely any real offensive talent on the roster.
Terrible start... Do you derive pleasure from that?Hey, how’s Rutgers’ “best men’s coach” doing with the baseball team these days? Off to a hot start?
Well don’t you know he’s the CEO of the program? In Business You Must Demand Excellence (TM).Terrible start... Do you derive pleasure from that?
If they could, they would be. As someone mentioned upthread, he had decent offenses at Stony Brook. He’s always been more of a defensive coach but he’s not completely incompetent at coaching an offense.I think those players you just named could run a motion offense that doesn’t look stuck in the mud throwing prayers half the time
Watch his games at SB. Offensive output wasnt because they ran great actions in the half court. Half court offense has never really been his thingIf they could, they would be. it’s because we don’t run repeatable offense or counter actions when teams take away our first option . First options are easily scouted and schemed for but what do you do after they take this away. We have no counters and become stagnant and hold the ball. Then it results in one on one plays and we don’t have those players right now as we did in past years. Not having multiple set plays to get Cam open or him being a screener is a sin. If they are going to not leave our best shooter you have to use this to your advantage and use him as a screener to free up others , especially going to the basket. Personnel wise it’s easy to figure out why we can’t scoreWhatever it is we do, the opposing team is on it like stink on shit.
There’s a hell of a lot more going on than just missing shots.
We are incredibly defended 95% of the time and we have no where to pass the ball.
I’ve never seen an offense like it
then he needs to hire someone who can do this or he or the staff needs to change their philosophyWatch his games at SB. Offensive output wasnt because they ran great actions in the half court. Half court offense has never really been his thing
I do know... And Owens is the CEO just like Pike, and the buck stops with both of them. The baseball season has a long way to go and he's recruited really good players, unlike Pike.Well don’t you know he’s the CEO of the program? In Business You Must Demand Excellence (TM).
You’ve been watching a lot of films of his games at Stony Brook? LolWatch his games at SB. Offensive output wasnt because they ran great actions in the half court. Half court offense has never really been his thing
We don’t make a lot of our shots because we are incredibly defended.I can’t believe people on this board still think the main problem is that our players don’t make shots. Are we a good shooting team…no. We’ve never been under Pike. But this stretch of games we are out there on the court and look like we have never touched a basketball before. We don’t move off the ball, we aren’t deliberate with the ball, and look generally confused. And every time we have a half court set it turns into a shot clock violation or turnover. Every other Big Ten team gets more open looks than us. We talk about players not making shots when nearly every shot they take is a tough contested shot.
Because he's recruited the same level of talent at both places and unfortunately Rutgers is in the B1GYou’ve been watching a lot of films of his games at Stony Brook? Lol
How was he generating points then and why wouldn’t it work in the Big Ten?
As a guy who literally never comes here except after the worst losses (your last post on the basketball board was the day after the Nebraska loss, what a strange coincidence) this line of attack is not really promising for you.I do know... And Owens is the CEO just like Pike, and the buck stops with both of them. The baseball season has a long way to go and he's recruited really good players, unlike Pike.
So let's see how this plays out, and again are you deriving pleasure from the baseball team getting off to a horrendous start
😂 zero shot this clown was studying Stony Brook tapeYou’ve been watching a lot of films of his games at Stony Brook? Lol

Bro (oops typo.. lol) you need to read the thread. You’re basically agreeing with my side.Because he's recruited the same level of talent at both places and unfortunately Rutgers is in the B1G
But what I’m saying is it isn’t a coincidence that we’re always incredibly defended. And teams that are usually poor on defense like Michigan and Iowa have good defensive games against us. It isn’t as much them playing good defenses as it is us not having any offensive intelligence. We don’t make a lot of our shots because we are incredibly defended.
That’s if we don’t turn it over
Pike runs an offense that gives no one good looks
Steve Bardo made the point tonight that he'd like to see RU more often get out in transition and try to get some easy baskets. But they insist on trying to be a half court team with players that can't shoot. We super obviously run offense, which is evident when anyone is actually playing well, but our players lack the skill to run anything against a decent defense and this is especially true when they aren’t playing well.
There is not a single coach on planet Earth that is taking this team tonight and getting more than a few more points out of them.
I mean, we have tried this before and it doesn’t really go well either (and also seems to hurt our defense)Steve Bardo made the point tonight that he'd like to see RU more often get out in transition and try to get some easy baskets. He recruited low major talent but made 3 straight tourneys? He must be Brad Stevens with his X’s and O’s then.Because he's recruited the same level of talent at both places and unfortunately Rutgers is in the B1G
Nah but when we hired him i did watch his 2016 conference championship game. But again, most of this was told to me from one of the top guys in the aau circuit in nj. Pike doesnt shy away from it. He recruits to it telling kids he wants to get out and run and turn defense into offenseYou’ve been watching a lot of films of his games at Stony Brook? Lol

At least it would be watchable and add some juice to the crowd with exciting plays.I mean, we have tried this before and it doesn’t really go well either (and also seems to hurt our defense)
Bro... You and I agree Fluxy??Bro (oops typo.. lol) you need to read the thread. You’re basically agreeing with my side.
There was no reason for him to run any offense with Jameel Warney on the roster. If I put you on a 5th grade roster and the coach just says "hey, throw it to the 25 year old every play" I'm not going to attack that coach for not running an offense.Nah but when we hired him i did watch his 2016 conference championship game. I tend to agree except we aren't good in transition eitherSteve Bardo made the point tonight that he'd like to see RU more often get out in transition and try to get some easy baskets. But they insist on trying to be a half court team with players that can't shoot.
Maybe we should hire Mike BoyntonWatch his games at SB. Offensive output wasnt because they ran great actions in the half court. Half court offense has never really been his thing
This.. devoid of offensive talent this year. Super easy to defend when you only have one guy who can break down a defense, you have a gifted physical center who struggles with the nuances, and the team can't shoot consistentlyWe super obviously run offense, which is evident when anyone is actually playing well, but our players lack the skill to run anything against a decent defense and this is especially true when they aren’t playing well.

You were ready to blow Pike earlier this year and you apologized for being an asshole last year. Wow what happenedBecause he's recruited the same level of talent at both places and unfortunately Rutgers is in the B1G
