It's over, pack it up and go home. Hobbs not supporting NIL at RU.

what’s stopping the AD from meeting with #NIL
Groups, business/community leaders, the law that kicks in 2025?!

Pat meets with boosters all the time.

You are missing the point. OSU's AD never met with their two collectives or led them. They are doing this all on their own.

In fact, he probably doesn't want to meet with them. Just let them operate.

We don't have the boosters. It's really that simple. You are acting as if there is some untapped money just waiting on the sidelines for Pat to tell them what to do.

Boosters at OSU and others are just doing it. It's got nothing to do with the AD.

I’m not missing anything.. With all due respect…

How much does Rutgers approximately receive in external direct to AD donation support?
And how much do other BIG schools receive?

Everyone says our alumni giving is terrible.
How terrible?

Schools cannot enter into NIL deals with athletes or arrange for outsiders to arrange NIL deals with athletes. That's clear. But what a school can do (at least for the moment) is to call together its big donors and say, "Have you heard of this thing called NIL? Here's how it works . . . nudge nudge wink wink say no more!" (to quote the Monty Python skit) I would be stunned if Hobbs has not done that.

This is what Ohio State is doing. Sadly, Rutgers doesn’t to be as supportive, but I’m not sure why.

Gotta start somewhere & that’s by meeting with the #NIL Groups, Business/Community leaders start talking about it. Take advantage of the legislation which doesn’t go into effect till 2025.

As other schools already have $100MM raised and are paying players, all led by boosters.

You realize the schools we are talking about never had to do what you are suggesting right?

I know exactly what’s going on which is why we need to start NOW!

Start now? USC had $100MM raised in 24 hours the day this was announced.

It either exists or it doesn't. We've never had boosters at this level. We aren't magically going to get them. And it's not because Pat doesn't court them. He does. Donations have gone up significantly under his watch.

This is a game we aren't equipped to play. Again, it's not led by AD's. It's led by boosters, and that's the biggest issue around this.

Forget about Pat. He's not the problem.

I promise you if you donate to one of the collectives or create one yourself and donate $50MM to pay players, Pat will shake your hand and say thank you. Just like OSU's AD did.

You Pat Hobbs?! Lol

This is what Ohio State is doing. Sadly, Rutgers doesn’t to be as supportive, but I’m not sure why.
You're experienced enough to know that sports here will never be funded, either by the school or by alums/boosters, on the scale of Ohio State. So we're unlikely ever to be at OSU's level except maybe for a miracle year or two. We have to be content with consistently trying to have a winning record and going to non-major bowls.

Even the OSU AD called him out.

Without support for the NIL from everybody especially at the top, it's over.

Doesn't matter if we win or lose against Neb. Doesn't matter if we beat Indiana.

Best players will be poached, no good recruits will come, no transfer portal players will sign.

The future is bleak and it will be Hobbs' fault.
SIAP...but CFB needs a "salary cap" (aka NIL cap) just like other pro sports.

It's been done. Can we move on from that false narrative?
What’s been done?! What false Narrative 🤔 you & caliknight I believe are saying the BOG is instructing the Athletic Director to adhere to a law that doesn’t kick in till 2025 question is Por Que?!
Why do nothing when we’re already behind the 8 ball?’ Whatta think happens when Rutgers Athletics in whole stands down on a issue that is priority all throughout the college ranks?! We need someone who made this decision to come out & explain his/her reasoning as to why?! We’ll wait!

When is Hobbs going to make a public statement similar to Schiano? These back door whispers to some donors aren’t moving the needle.

We’re not looking to reach OSU’s levels at this time but we’re gonna certainly need all those in leadership, alumni, fans, boosters, business/community leaders or anyone else for that matter to come together & figure this #NIL THING OUT ASAP.
We all knew joining the #B1G conference would require a serious financial commitment-all hands on deck approach 💯 hopefully that mindset hasn’t changed over the years..

Your quoting went a little bonkers in the previous message. It looks like I'm answering myself.

Suffice to say, statements were made at a non-public event, and I will not share the details. But it was made crystal clear that RU needed a certain amount of NIL money to retain its best players. There was no doubt. I'm not making crap up. Sorry if this goes against some false narrative that people want to use to tear down our AD. It is quite shameful how people with no facts or incorrect facts lob out accusations or misinformation. Not sure what the Round Table thread is all about and what one of the collective people had to say. I tagged him in one of my responses above to see what information was in that thread, but he has not responded here.

Ok so he still hasn’t done squat except make some comments behind closed doors. Glad we agree.

That’s not going to cut it. Poor leadership.

My basic problem with this thread, is we still have no concrete statement from anyone IN THIS THREAD about what Hobbs has or has not done to "no support NIL." It is either lacking information, misleading, or at worst, totally false. It is a shame that the thread had been up this long and there are no concrete facts on the assertions made. But it is typical of some of our fans.

We agree on nothing. Nothing.
The largest donors are well aware of what is needed. It has been emphasized. What is shared with donors is not always shared publicly. Not sure what else you want, except to tear down our AD.

Have you joined one of the NIL collectives? How much have you donated? If nothing, that's not going to cut it.

Boosters at OSU and others are just doing it. It's got nothing to do with the AD.

And have been doing it since the 20's. That's 1920s.
Start now? USC had $100MM raised in 24 hours the day this was announced.

And had done the inflation adjusted equivalent since they got John Wayne to play.

RU has some dedicated large donors with long histories of support, but not enough. And small donors don't compare to the rest of the B1G, in numbers of gifts. This board's enthusiasm for RU football and sports in general does not reflect the alumni in general. A much larger % of OSU and Michigan alums, people who don't populate message boards, follow and support their teams.

Thru thick.

But I wonder how that works when it’s mostly thin?

Correct
It’s 6 mil this year for retaining players per GS at July TD club meeting

This really shouldn’t be this hard… Barstool Sports HC is located in NYC, they have their own NIL setup and are owned by one of the largest casino/gambling groups in the country… 1 phone call to Dave Portnoy by Patt Hobbs is all it would take. ‘Hey Dave, it’s Pat. We want to partner with you for NIL deals, setup exclusives that you can provide to our players, and you get to be a major part of this operation.’ Portnoy would jump all over that!

It can’t be this difficult that a moron from a message board can figure out how to get the ball rolling with a MAJOR organization deeply involved in the CFB world whose headquarters are less than an hour from our campus!
