New head coaches in the NFL have a fairly broad opportunity to bring in their own guys for key positions. The head count at the club isn't particularly formulaic, so if he wants to find a job for a guy it's pretty easy to create one.

When the GM leaves, all jobs in the building are assumed to be open.

According to NJ.com, Asbury Park Press and Bergen record, he was forced out.
