Somethings going on there. Have to imagine theres some NIL going around there, right? Anyone know? Wild that he brought in a better class than pikiell haha

Not sure if he has anything to do with the Fairfield recruits, but Robert Zito, the guy who runs IPZ, (the agency that Cliff signed with to help him procure NIL deals), is a Fairfield alum.

Goodine....is now on his 3rd team in his career.

Syracuse, to Providence to Fairfield. I don't know how long a 4* rating remains attached to a player, but if you want to say a program landed a 4* player, I guess technically you can. He has played 3 seasons (1 Cuse, 2 Providence) and haa averaged 8 Minutes per game and under 2PPG for his career.

My guess is he is going to go from 8 MPG to 30 Minutes a game.

Part of it is the Rick Pitino effect being in the MAAC. MAAC is a conference on the rise, and recruits recognize it with St Peter's run in this year's tournament

let's look closely at this.
One has his father on the staff, so Johns might be considered a recruiting miracle ( wink-wink)
the other (Goodine) could use the theme song from "The Jeffersons"
Well we're movin' on up (movin on up)
To the east side (movin on up)
To a deluxe apartment in the sky.
Movin' on up (movin on up)
To the east side (movin on up)
We finally got a piece of the pie.

oops that might not be right and looks like the kid is going down a few notches in the type of program first landed at, then moved on from there to another program not quite as respected to one that he left then moving on again to a program that hardly any top talent would consider as a first choice unless their daddy was there..

I don't think Pike lost much recruiting wise, but those with a dull axe to grind might feel it's good bashing material to bring up these players..

Jay did get 2 players that should help in win at the level Fairfield plays in .
One might be better than that level, the other might prove to be better at that level then the level of play his last 2 schools were playing

OP’s Pikiell bias is out in full force on this one.

He applauds Jay for getting a 4-star HS recruit..who hasn’t been great in college.

yet in the Antoine thread, isn’t happy Pikiell is in on a 5 STAR HS recruit who hasn’t been great in college.

can’t make this nonsense up

He can’t help himself. A not very smart. B narcissist.

“A Rutgers coach better produce 4 straight NCAA caliber teams after the school couldn’t produce 1 in 30 years or he’s underachieving” - All imbeciles
Yes, I and many others want better than 18-14 in year 7 of Pike's tenure. You don't?!?

Check this out....you get personally attacked by the Pike-eez by saying I and others want better than 18-14 in year 7 of Pike's tenure....year 7! Why do you always bring up the past, this is year 7 of Pike's tenure and we should all be focused on the the '22/ '23 season and an improving program. Who cares about previous coaches in YEAR 7....YEAR Frikkin' 7, not year 1, 2 or 3....or is the number '7' too difficult for you to understand. I'll give you a hint, it comes after 6 and before 8.

Guess what, I'm going to watch RU Baseball go for a sweep of tOSU today. In year 3 under Coach O they are 35-9 and in 1st place in the B1G wiht a 14-3 record. And that was a pretty shitty program Coach Owens took over only 3 years ago.

3 straight tournaments.

Faster than ANYONE thought possible

You clearly hate him. Fine with me. Just own it
You are 100% wrong. I have nothing to hate about him...he seems like an upstanding guy.
You obviously are mesmerized by him....own that. 18-14 in year 6 was underwhelming with his longest tenured and self proclaimed best team ever. 18-14 is a mediocre record....period. I and many others would expect better than that in year 6 of any coach's tenure....let me repeat... any coach's tenure in year 6 should be better than 18-14. That is where my bar is set.

Hey...you be you. Must be awesome stuck in the shell of a miserable person

I'll support the guy doing things nobody's ever done here before. And judge him on what actually happens vs BS strawman arguments.

Carry on with your childish jabs at the guy. Youre like a 6 yr old holding their breath cause you don't want to eat your veggies

you support last year's mediocre record and take swipes at fans who expect better....speaking of miserable. I guess C+ grades are fine for your kids too. You're a miserable, mediocre expectation, beaten down RU fan. Enjoy your kids C+ report card too.

How come you're not on the football board comparing / complaining Owens to Schiano in year 3? You must like mediocrity.

Also - why are you trying to attack other people's kids on this board?

I have zero doubts in Pikiell's ability to continue the natural progression of this team going forward. The next 4 years will resemble his last 4 years at Stony Brook, 97-38 (25-8, 23-11, 23-12, 26-7). Why people are trying to find a replacement that doesn't need replacing, all of his coaching peers respect him more than a small percentage of Rutgers own fan base. Here is Schiano vs Pikiell...

As a starting point for each,
--Terry Shea 1999-00 1-10(1-6), 3-8(0-7)
4-18(1-13), NC 3-5 0.375, (2000) 83rd/116
--Chris Ash 2018-19 1-11(0-9), 2-10(0-9)
3-21(0-16), NC 3-5 0.375, (2019) 121st/130
--Eddie Jordan 2014-16 10-22(2-16), 7-25(1-17)
17-47(3-33), NC 14-14 0.500, (15-16) 279th/351 KPom, 294th/351 RPI(6-25)

Schiano 1.0, 2-9(0-7, 8th/8), 1-11(0-7, 8th/8), 5-7(2-5, T6th/8), 4-7(1-5, T6th/7), 7-5(4-3, T3rd/8), 11-2(5-2, T2nd), 8-5(3-4, T5th), 8-5(5-2, T2nd), 9-4(3-4, T4th), 4-8(1-6, 8th), 9-4(4-3, T4th), 68-67(28-48, 0.368), 5-1 Bowl

Schiano 2.0, 3-6(3-6, T10th), 5-8(2-7, 11th)
8-14(5-13), 0-1 Bowl

Pikiell, 15-18(3-15, 14th), 15-19(3-15, 14th), 14-17(7-13, T10th), 20-11(11-9, T5th), 16-12(10-10, T6th), 18-14(12-8, T4th), Career 98-91(46-70, 0.397), 1-2(3 NCAAs)

Schiano 1.0 first 3 yrs 8-27(2-19), NC 6-8
BE Home 1-10 Road 1-9, 0-8 vs ranked teams
Pikiell first 3 years 44-54(13-43), NC 31-11
B1G Home 9-19 Road 4-24, 3-16 vs ranked teams

Schiano next 3 years 22-14(10-10), NC 12-4
BE Home 6-4 Road 4-6, 1-4 vs ranked teams
Pikiell next 3 years 54-37(33-27), NC 21-10
B1G Home 23-7 Road 10-20, 10-16 vs ranked teams(4-4, 1-8, 5-4)

Schiano (years 7-9) 25-14(11-10), NC 14-4
BE Home 6-5 Road 5-5, 3-4 vs ranked teams
Pikiell (years 7-9) ??-?? TBD

Schiano 1.0 was 0-11 vs WVU under 2 different coaches in the Big East, first Road win at (17) Pitt in year 8, 4-18, 0.182 vs ranked teams in 11 years
Pikiell has beaten all 13 teams in the B1G, won at (22) Iowa year 3, at (14) Wisconsin in year 6, 13-32, 0.289 vs ranked teams in 6 years.

I would say Pikiell is up trending higher than Schiano did his first go around.

Basketball is in the B1G, has a top practice facility and needs to recruit 2-3 studs a year....football was in the Big East, had bad facoilities and you need to recruit 20 studs a year...far from an apples tp apples comparison. And top players are way more likely to get injured in football. Very thorough analysis but your comparison is flawed.
