Kuhr Out - Erb In as RB coach

Clear the way for Charlie Partridge, the ace recruiter of the State of Florida. Or just add him as the additional coach that will be allowed in the Spring. The staff upgrades have been fabulous this off season.
we have ties to FLA with Coach Henry, hes a FLA native.. Need an in state NJ asst added to staff, not FLA. Unless you like to seeing top NJ talent leave the state.I do like this move but find it curious that Drews best buddy Kuhr is now also gone..they were best buds....

The upgrade in experience with the addition of Kill and Erb is outstanding.

Kill 32 years of experience compared to 2 for Drew.
Erb 25 years of experience compared to 3 for Kuhr.

That's 52 additional years of collective experience on the offensive side of the ball.

Many posters said we should have hired this type of staff last December and January and were crucified by this Board. Lots of crickets right now.

It's obvious that the RB position underperformed expectations and that Martin may have been poorly used. I wonder if Taylor's leaving for Wisconsin and Lovett's decommit may have been due in part with Kuhr's performance.

wonder how this plays out with landing Lovett back to RU?

I hope we stop that stupid arm swing on kickoffs.

Attended the Indiana game with a friend who is not a huge football fan, (and multiple games with my kids), and they all thought it was laughable.
If it actually worked, who cares? But yeah, it looks extra stupid when you can only kick off to the opponent's 10-yard line.

Kicking off to the 10 isn't the problem. It's being so slow they are at the 30 before we see our guys down field.

The arm swing on kickoffs is goofy and embarrassing. High school teams do that. If you're USC and you want to do that, fine. When you're Rutgers getting beat by 50, kicking off to the opponents 10 yard line, don't do the arm swing.

As I recall, most of the critics were lamenting the lack of NJ ties first and the lack of experience (which grew louder as the season wore on) as a secondary complaint. The former, thus far, hasn't seemed to be much of an issue while the latter appears as if it is being addressed.

THAT is what you're worried about? About half the teams in the nation many of which played in NY6/playoff games. Let's the kids do what they want.

Here we go again:

- Rick Mantz is on the recruiting staff for a reason

- if you're buddy needs a job maybe he should ask Ash?

- let's see what happens when the NCAA opens up the new coaching staff slot

- Erb is from Pennsy; this is an excellent hire, maybe you should discuss that instead of bringing up the same tired topic you bring up in every single thread?

Come'on man this is some GREAT stuff right here!

So is it true Kuhr went to Texas State? If so, it must've been a move by mutual agreement. Otherwise, how does he land a new job so quickly? And don't we have Texas State on the schedule in the near future?

That's true, many thought an inexperienced HC shouldn't be relying on an inexperienced OC and most of the offensive side of the staff with little P-5 experience
What confused me last year was moving Kurh from being the WR coach he was original hired for to the RB coaching spot Jafar Williams was supposed to be making Jafar the WR coach even thought he was Purdue's RB coach for 2 years before RU hired him.
Williams was WR coach at Howard and Illinois State and guess that was the reason Ash made the switch while Zach had more RB coaching experience, only having WR coaching experience at the HS level and a NAIA Division I school.

I think Ash now realizes he made some mistakes in his hiring assistants for the side of ball he doesn't have any experience coaching.

Good, :) exchange the kiddy coral for some experienced coaches. I like what Ash is doing, the new hires look like huge upgrades. Ash made a good, quick decisive decision by flushing out boy wonder and his sidekick [thumb2]

Yes, Wonder boy back to being a WR coach where he belongs at this stage of his career in the P5 CFB world.

He's the Passing Game OC, IMHO a tad bit of a difference from a "WR's coach" and I'd bet making as much if not more $$$ than he was at RU.

So far OC or co-OC isn't in his Texas bio , just passing coordinator/WR coach
The running back coach is also the running game coordinator and listed as Associated HC.
Beck is in charge of the offense as the OC and both the passing game coordinator and running game coordinator are under him. But Herman probably will be the one really in charge of the Texas offense with Beck having the title of OC
Mehringer just got a fancy title to justify his leaving an OC position at a P-5 program for a lesser role at Texas.
He'll probably be an OC there or another program soon, but not this season.

Given the past history of our running backs, Hicks and Martin, they certainly appear to have underperformed (when they played which is another issue). Even if you want to blame subpar line play, many of the same linemen were present the year before when they both had good years. Erb seems like a good move for all involved.

We didn't do much kicking off when we were getting beat by 50.

Lovett already following him on twitter

Love it!!

;)

Not sure of the impact (from TH interview: http://www.nj.com/rutgersfootball/i...ohnathan_lovett_think.html#incart_river_index )

It appears Rutgers has a legitimate shot at landing Lovett, but does Kuhr leaving hurt Rutgers at all?

"I mean, like, that was my guy. That was my guy," Lovett said. "But, I don't know. It's business. I guess it's the same actually if you get to thinking about it. It's like you lost something but got it back.
"So, I don't know."
